Dolfan in NYC Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 The biggest tournament in the Americas is coming to the USA next year. CONCACAF has just announced the 10 host cities: New York (Metlife) Boston (Gillette) Philadelphia (Lincoln Financial) Orlando (Citrus) Chicago (Soldier) Houston (NRG) Phoenix (U of Phoenix) Southern Cal (Rose) Northern Cal (Levi's) Seattle (CenturyLink) Finals are supposed to be at Metlife. The field - USA Mexico Jamaica Costa Rica Argentina Bolivia Brazil Chile Colombia Ecuador Paraguay Peru Uruguay Venezuela Final two spots will be determined by a playoff game on 1/8/16: Trinidad & Tobago vs Haiti Panama vs Cuba Everyone is supposed to be sending their A team, so this should be a LOT of fun. Tournament will run from 6/3 - 6/26. 1
Death From Above Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 I assume it being in the USA virtually guarantees it actually ends up on a somewhat normal TV channel for a change.
odessasteps Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 I assume it being in the USA virtually guarantees it actually ends up on a somewhat normal TV channel for a change. CTV for you. Fox or espn in usa.
Dewar Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Using the Gold Cup as a way to determine the playoff game qualifiers is whack. Cuba? For real?
Cristobal Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 What else are they going to use, FIFA rankings? That'd put Antigua and Barbuda in Cuba's place. At least with Cuba we have the chance of seeing how much of the team defects by the end of the tournament if they advance.
sabremike Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Watching the Cuban National Team is like watching Victory for real.
Dewar Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 FIFA rankings are horseshit too. They could have run an actual qualifying tournament for the two spots. We all know how CONCACAF loves holding overly convoluted qualifying tournaments.
Cristobal Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 They do that to get US and Mexico games in as many Caribbean venues as possible. A tournament without those teams in it wouldn't make a dime.
CanadianChris Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 FIFA rankings are horseshit too. They could have run an actual qualifying tournament for the two spots. We all know how CONCACAF loves holding overly convoluted qualifying tournaments. They did run a qualifying tournament. It was called The Gold Cup.
Dolfan in NYC Posted December 16, 2015 Author Posted December 16, 2015 Official announcement came today, the finals will be at Metlife Stadium on 6/26/16.
Guest Edwin Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 No matter how much these games will most likely suck, I'm going to go to pretty much all of them at the Citrus Bowl. Any combination of Brazil, Colombia, USA would easily sellout within minutes.
Dolfan in NYC Posted January 11, 2016 Author Posted January 11, 2016 And Panama destroyed Cuba 4-0, which sucks because now we won't hear about half the team trying to defect.
Dolfan in NYC Posted January 29, 2016 Author Posted January 29, 2016 Fox got the US rights. Final will be on network TV, qualifying rounds will be on Fox, FS1 & FS2. All games are on their app. http://www.foxsports.com/soccer/story/fox-sports-to-air-copa-america-centenario-012716 Guess I need to find those channels. (Or just turn to Univision and watch it with people who are actually happy about doing a soccer broadcast.)
Marcel Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 The draw is on Sunday, 2/21 at 7:30 pm Eastern. The US first round matches will be in:June 3 (Friday) - Levi's Stadium, Santa Clara, CA June 7 (Tuesday) - Soldier Field, Chicago, IL June 11 (Saturday) - Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, PA Willing to bet that the four seeds will be USA/Mexico/Brazil/Argentina, with hopes that those end us as the final four. And if they are....take my money, just take it.
odessasteps Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 $150 cheapest ticket for Philly for the three group matches.
Dolfan in NYC Posted February 22, 2016 Author Posted February 22, 2016 Well, USA has themselves *quite* the group. 3-0 is possible, so is 0-3. GROUP A USA Colombia Costa Rica Paraguay GROUP B Brazil Ecuador Haiti Peru GROUP C Mexico Uruguay Jamaica Venezuela GROUP D Argentina Chile Panama Bolivia
Guest Edwin Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 So I get to see Costa Rica/Paraguay, Brazil/Haiti and Panama/Bolivia which means I'll go see the Brazil B team drop 12 goals on Haiti and Costa Rica vs. Paraguay.
Dolfan in NYC Posted May 3, 2016 Author Posted May 3, 2016 So Argentina just won... everything. "The truth is... the best they can do... is not let us come in." 1
RIPPA Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Jozy Altidore is out 6-8 due to his hamstring injury and thus out of Copa
sabremike Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 I am going to wait until the tickets for that mouthwatering Haiti-Equador clash at MetLife are below $20 on StubHub.
piranesi Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 The combination of suddenly hearing all my commercials in spanish and seeing the hopeful doomed faces of Mexican futbol fans really makes today feel like the first true day of Summer.
piranesi Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 So it's just about 9:45 EST on the first night of the tournament and so far the USA is still in thSHIT
