RandomAct
So ESPN is reporting that Melo has said he will opt out and test free agency because that's 'what every player in the league wants to try once in there career' You know that's right.

Rolando Blackman Michael Jordan...in Miami Buck Williams...he may have told them to retire his number, and you don't say no to Buck Williams Dan Majerle Tom Chambers Vlade Divac Jeff Hornacek Mark Eaton Larry Nance Don't get me wrong, he is being an idiot, but are trying to tell me that Dwight wasn't better in Orlando than anyone on that list. RandomAct
Those guys never held their team hostage, got a coach and GM fired, then decided to leave anyway. It's not about quality of play, it's about what he meant to the team. Blackman, Majerle, and Hornacek were beloved players on their teams.
Burgundy LaRue
It's petty on Orlando's part. They're clearly trolling Howard, because they know how he'd react. Dwight should have ignored it. But since when has he done that? Which they knew.

So, you are trying to say that Jeff Hornacek was more beloved in Utah, than Dwight Howard was in Orlando? If you gave the Orlando fans the choice between having Dwight back or having anyone other than Shaq back, they would take Dwight 100 times out of 100. With that said, the way Dwight left was handled horribly, but he is still the 2nd best player in the history of the franchise, and probably the most loved. But how many fans do you think he has in Orlando right now? Hornacek could walk on the floor in Utah and get a hero's welcome. I really doubt Dwight would get the same treatment in Orlando. Lawful Metal
Hard to see Canaan cracking the Lin/Beverley/Brooks rotation. I like him, but he just seems like a D-League player to me. Canaan is headed to the D-League. Rockets like to send their rookies there anyway; also, he's not getting any playing time barring an injury to Lin or Beverley. Harden can play PG if necessary, so it's likely a three guard rotation between Lin/Bev/Beard. Brooks may or may not make the team; while he can score in a hurry off the bench, he is an absolute defensive liability. If Canaan can show some instant offense and not crater too horrifically on defense, he'll probably take Brooks's spot on the team. And then spend the season down in the D-League.

mco543
Further more, everyone on that list was already retired from playing professional basketball at the time of their jersey retirement. Dwight is an idiot, he was comparing his new teammates to guys he had on the Magic in an interview On Tuesday, Howard compared Rockets small forward Chandler Parsons to Hedo Turkoglu and Rockets shooting guard James Harden to Courtney Lee but also added that Harden has more scoring ability. He compared Rockets point guard Patrick Beverley to Rafer Alston and Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin to Anthony Johnson. This is probably insulting to every single person on this list in one way or another.

Charlie M.
He's comparing them to the team that went to the Finals. You just see that list and you realize how bad that team really was beyond Dwight. I think that team must have also warped Dwight's perception of NBA reality. It was too easy to make the finals with a bunch of average guys. I don't think he gets what it actually takes to get back there.

Josh Mann
That Magic team was in the right spot in the right time. They were in a spot against a team who was overconfident, who had no #2 option on offense, played crappy perimeter D, and had a coach who could be rolled in game-decision situations. The real big winner from that series was Hedu, who signed a huge deal that offseason because Cleveland didn't have an answer for him.
