Playa Shunna Ver 3.0 Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Alvarez says he is dropping the scoop on the WOL radio show.....right after the break.
Dolfan in NYC Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 RuPaul's Drag Race & BBQ Pitmasters are the only reality shows I'll watch. I'm a fucking weirdo. Bob Ryder @brydertna Welcome to the neighborhood @RingOfHonor! 1
John Austin Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 I'm not a member of the WO forums, but someone said Alvarez mentioned that TNA officials were informed of the ROH signing this morning, just before it was officially announced, true or no?
RIPPA Posted May 27, 2015 Author Posted May 27, 2015 Wade Keller @thewadekeller 11s12 seconds ago I'm told this DestAm-ROH deal was in works long before any falling out between DestAm and TNA. This was not a rushed deal, in other words.
Raziel Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 If so, Bix was right, who the fuck negotiated the deal for TNA with DA, and *not* make it exclusive? 2

He just said this on the radio show. He said the timing was a coincidence and that today was always the planned day they would announce the ROH deal. ROH was close to a deal with Spike for special events, but this fell through.
SirSmUgly Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 If so, Bix was right, who the fuck negotiated the deal for TNA with DA, and *not* make it exclusive? To be fair, it's not like TNA had any leverage. It appeared to be DA or no TV, and with no TV, TNA is worthless. Well, even more worthless than it already is.
DouglasC Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Maybe if I'd watched more than maybe 15 minutes of the show over the past year, I could have made this funny... 2
Brian Fowler Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 This is amazing. In related news, Samoa Joe reportedly has not stopped laughing all fucking day. 12
Matt D Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 If so, Bix was right, who the fuck negotiated the deal for TNA with DA, and *not* make it exclusive? To be fair, it's not like TNA had any leverage. It was a mild success to begin with that they were paid in something more valuable than bobbleheads.
Playa Shunna Ver 3.0 Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 2 more notes. Destination America has no booking input into ROH. The Destination America VP who signed TNA has been using the contract as toilet paper all week. 1
Michael Sweetser Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 This is essentially being sold as Destination America simply syndicating the Sinclair ROH show - it airs first on Sinclair, then the following Wednesday on DA. So in reality, it's no different than them syndicating any other show to air - this one just happens to be pro wrestling.

It's being bought as the funniest thing since Ultimo Dragon's Wrestlemania entrance.. 1
Spritenaut 32 Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Yeah, I actually don't see this as a big deal. Picking up a syndicated hour of a show that aired in a lot of markets several days earlier is probably a small investment. You might still have the same problems attracting advertisers, but your breakeven point is a lot lower. If they go on to replace TNA with a ROH show that only airs on DA, it will be interesting to hear about the economics of both shows. Curious to hear if DA refused to give TNA an exclusivity clause in the contract, or if TNA never asked. If TNA didn't try to write some sort of clause in the deal preventing this, lol.
Michael Sweetser Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Really, with this promotion's history, I can see Dixie being pleaded with by her advisers to add an exclusivity clause, only for her to remark "Who's going to stop us? ROH?" and then erupt into maniacal laughter while signing the contract in Josh Matthews' blood. 1
cool arrow Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Seems to me Dixie was in no position to make any demands of DA anyway.
RIPPA Posted May 27, 2015 Author Posted May 27, 2015 Reminder - via Bix -- For however much you may want to fault TNA for not having exclusivity, remember that United Talent Agency negotiated the deal for them.
Phantom Lord Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 I bet TNA never asked for exclusiveity. I mean they were probably like "pfft, who else are ya'll gonna sign darlin". 2
Michael Sweetser Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Damn, I forgot the "darlin'". That's essential for any Dixie Carter dialogue. 1
Raziel Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 An error occurred You have reached your quota of positive votes for the day 1
Matt D Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 An error occurred No, tech support jokes are for the GFW thread. Get it right. 3
Michael Sweetser Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Days like this seriously require a temporary lifting of the likes limit.
