Holy Fuck, if you didn't watch the first run of this ep, get on the replay.

Archer being unaware of there being a porn fetish for something. Hilarious.

3 weeks for the next new episode?  The fuck...

But it's Archer as the Bandit.

I would gather it's because of the Olympics.

I love that Archer has enough sex that he's basically never looked at porn on the internet.

...AND that the show somehow frames HIM as being weird because of it.

Was watching this episode at my Mom's when some people collecting for charity came to the door, shooed them away (Who gives at the door anymore anyway?!) and watched them walk down the walkway and look up into the window where I'd paused this episode and it was apparently the scene where they were tying up Pam and her boobs were sticking out through the ropes so it looked like I was into some weird cartoon bondage porn.  "Is that a thing?"

Do you think it means anything that from what I can tell the last two eps of Archer haven't had the actor credited who usually voices Woodhouse(George Coe), but the character was in them anyway along with a voice actor in the credits who I don't recognize(Tom Kane)?

A quick googling reveals that Kane does Yoda's voice on 'The Clone Wars'.  Perhaps that's part of the "Yoda's dad" joke from 'Archer' last night, maybe he's replaced Coe?!

That would make sense since no one has mentioned it officially.

Episode 6 / Production #509 - "Archer Vice: Baby Shower" (Airs March 3, 10:00 pm e/p) - Archer decides to give Lana the perfect baby shower gift by forcing Kenny Loggins to sing a duet with Cherlene. Something something Danja Zown! Written by Adam Reed.

I won't see season 5 until it's on Netflix, of course, but Tom Kane's been around a while (he was the voice of Magneto in nearly every cartoon and game of the 2000s, Quincy Sharp in the Batman: Arkham games, etc.)  If George Coe's no longer able or interested, he's probably the best choice working today to take over the role based on the general timbre and texture of his voice.  I'd be surprised if there isn't a sizable number of viewers who don't even notice the change.

It's pretty distinct to my ears, but I've seen the show a lot.

Unless that entry came from someone involved with the show, I wouldn't trust that 100%.

I'm probably remembering them as less distinct than they actually are, simply because I initially thought it was Kane to begin with until I looked at the cast list.

Episode 7 / Production #506 - "Archer Vice: Smugglers' Blues" (Airs March 10, 10:00 pm e/p) - Archer travels to Columbia on a secret mission that becomes not so secret after he gets drunk. Written by Adam Reed.

I was thinking that Woodhouse sounded a little different this season.  I just chalked it up to weak writing of his character for those scenes.  He sounded even more feeble and subservient than in the past.  I really enjoy the show but sometimes Archer hitches himself to one punchline and just beats the dead horse with it for the rest of the episode. Off the top of my head I'm thinking about the episodes that took place in Switzerland/Canada/Uzbekistan.

He can talk about the "danger zone" for the entirety of every episode.  That never gets old.  His rampage from a few seasons ago was also awesome to unattainable degree.

That's sort of an Adam Reed thing. Call-backs are such a major part of it that he makes it part of the humor and ends up mocking himself for over-use of stuff.

I have nothing of value to add here except that I'm disappointed in myself for taking this long to discover this awesome show. It brings the LOLZ like few can today.

I understand why they took a break rather than go up against the Olympic ratings juggernaut, but i still have trouble believing there is that much overlap between the Olympic viewing audience and the Archer audience.  Also, they now count DVR and On Demand viewers in Nielsen ratings, irrc. so it's not like they'd be forcing most of the audience to choose.

Sterling Archer starring in Smoky and the Bandit 2K14 should be great fun.

Episode 8 / Production #507 - "Archer Vice: The Rules of Extraction" (Airs March 17, 10:00 pm e/p) - Archer, Ray, and Cyril raft down a crocodile-filled river while Lana and Pam plan a spa day for Malory. Written by Adam Reed.
