RIPPA Posted February 12 Author Posted February 12 Per Dianna Rossini via the Athletic (so use whatever you usually use) - part of the reason the Jets and Aaron Rodgers are parting ways is because Aaron Glenn told Rodgers that he was to show up at training camp and that he was to stop all external media (specifically he had to stop doing his weekly hits on Pat Mcafee’s show) 1 1
Tabe Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Don't blame Glenn for shutting down the interviews. Don't blame Rodgers for saying no to a million dollar pay cut.
Dolfan in NYC Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Cincinnati's Benjamin Pratt has requested a trade.
Cobra Commander Posted February 12 Posted February 12 James Gladstone looks like a guy who manages a tag team of douchebag frat boys in AEW
Pete Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Aaron Rodgers has been FE'd. Our long national nightmare is over. 1
Dolfan in NYC Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Gladstone looks like he has thoughts about 1/6. Anywho.... lol sure, why not. (If you believe him, the deal would supposedly be this year's 1 & 2 for TL.)

Dolfan in NYC Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Because... My guess, and this is just theorycraft... They're going to try to move to #1 in the draft. If they're dumb enough to move up and pay the Titans sure to be outrageous price, they grab Ward or Sanders and cut Rodgers immediately, taking the hit this season. In the much more likely scenario where they can't move, they wait til next year, draft Arch Manning (or whomever) and deal with the dead money then.

BobbyWhioux Posted February 13 Posted February 13 not two years ago Lawrence was leading the greatest comeback in Jags history for a playoff win and treating fans to Waffle House after the game. That's real mythos, history and lore building stuff that a "new" team like the Jags is always going to be hard up to produce. Normally sports teams need to be over 100 years old to have that kind of organic aura about them, relics of when actual connection to the community could exist.. The QB leading fans on a Waffle House run is the closest you are ever going to get to Original Oakland Raiders shit, like going to Ricky's Sports Bar after the game and Phil Villapiano is already there pounding beers next to you, or even Marshawn Lynch taking BART home amongst the people from a Thursday Night game.] Lawrence should be a fucking folk hero down there to say nothing of the face of that organization. But of course they're dumb enough to make a rich get richer poor get poorer trade and give him to the fucking Steelers. 3
BobbyWhioux Posted February 13 Posted February 13 fuck it, the whole NFL is missing out on a story like that. Here's a proper babyface to stick in 87 commercials instead of trying to force us to like Rockey Miavia Seamus Roman Reigns Patrick Mahomes. Waffle House. The Jags could be THE SOUTH'S Team if they ran with that hard enough. He's actually a good QB, too, by the way. 1
BobbyWhioux Posted February 13 Posted February 13 and he's handsome. Someone in the NFL marketing dept. should be twisting themselves into knots trying to make a new Joe Namath out of this kid.

BloodyChamp Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Trevor Lawrence is a good quarterback. I don’t know what the heck happened to Doug Pedersen. He hasn’t looked like the same coach for a long time. The Jaguars have always been a fun surprise team who just shows up and kicks butt like Marty Jannetty did on Raw, but then something always happens like with him. WARBORTLES 2
Cobra Commander Posted February 13 Posted February 13 it took a few days for this ESPN article to circle around to Chiefs tweeters who are not happy about this quote: Quote When a coach realizes his quarterback could be the greatest of all time, it should be a feeling of pure joy, right? Not in the case of the Kansas City Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes. "It makes it so much more stressful," Chiefs passing game coordinator Joe Bleymaier told ESPN on Wednesday of Super Bowl week. "You feel the burden as a coach and as you're putting a game plan together to not waste his abilities. To not go through a season where you don't give him the opportunity. To not screw it up as the coaching staff. So rather than feeling like this just unbridled excitement that we could do anything, it's actually more like a terror, like we cannot be the reason that we screwed this guy up or this team up." https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/43625458/kansas-city-chiefs-patrick-mahomes-super-bowl-2025-loss-three-peat-denied The fan reaction amounts to "if you're that stressed/burdened, no wonder things have moved backwards since you took the job".. or some variant of "why are you being quoted as saying this, you idiot" Meanwhile, the Chiefs are losing a Safeties coach to the Ravens (where he'll become a DB coach) and the Chiefs are bringing Matt House back into the fold after he spent two years at LSU and a year in Jacksonville since leaving the Chiefs

Lawrence at least is proven, and with time could hit Nabers 10-12 times a game.
Cobra Commander Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Lawrence feels like a guy that either NY team would want purely for the sake of being marketable with his abilities as a bonus
Kevin Wilson Posted February 14 Posted February 14 I think people are getting a little too excited (not here, just in general) about the Steelers/Lawrence thing. I am surprised that even leaked out in a way that made it sound important, the GMs will be calling each other a lot over the next month inquiring if someone is available, I don't really think that's news. I think that guy was just trying to say something cool to get attention. Now if the Jags directly or indirectly confirm they are open to trading him (like the 49ers with Deebo or the Rams with Kupp) or Lawrence announces he wants to leave (like Myles Garrett) that would be totally different. Lots of teams would love to have him, I think in a better situation he still has the skill set to be a Top 10 QB. 1
BobbyWhioux Posted February 14 Posted February 14 oh don't start teasing me with visions of Deebo and a 1 For Lawrence

The Chiefs through the ball downfield less than any other team. If you go into every game hoping not to waste your quarterback and then try to dink and dunk your way down the field every game, you should be fired immediately.
RIPPA Posted February 14 Author Posted February 14 The Giants announced they are looking to sell up to 10% of the team (they are just the latest team to take advantage of the NFL allowing teams to sell up to 10% of ownership to private equity firms) The sale is expected to set the record for an NFL franchise valuation. The Giants are currently valued at (depending on the source) between $7.3 billion and $7.85 billion) For context, the Eagles sold 8% in December. Prior to the sale - they were valued between $6.6 billion and $7 billion. They sold the 8% in two separate transactions. At the sale, the were valued be worth $8.1 billion and $8.3 billion

Over the last two seasons combined, Lawrence threw 4 more touchdowns and twice as many picks as Aaron Rodgers. And Rodgers didn't even play one of those years. And people trashed his play. Lawrence has never thrown more than 25 TDs. 1 of every 40 passes he throws gets picked. He has a career 85 QB rating. That's 14 points lower than Deshaun Watson's and not that much above what Watson has done the last two years as a godawful quarterback. I get that he's had a terrible situation in Jacksonville at times but...

Something I was saying months ago is that, we saw the backlash against Kansas City really boil over this year, and you get all the normal statements about people getting sick of the same team winning every year, but I really don't think that's nearly the full story with the Chiefs. I think the reason so many people have moved to hating them the last two years is that they've gotten incredibly boring. The team with Tyreek Hill and Mahomes just throwing bombs down the field was fun in a way they just haven't approached the last few years. Now they take few chances, play good defense, and basically just rely on Mahomes to not make mistakes until the final ten minutes when they finally ask him to go win the game. It usually worked, but it's boring as fuck. If he was still throwing for 5,000 yards and 40+ touchdowns, I don't think they get anywhere near the level of hate. 2
