Hey, who won the national championship in 1989? 🙂

Vanderbilt is nationally ranked.

Vanderbilt is nationally ranked.

VANDERBILT IS NATIONALLY...

Nice to see a bit more content variety in the top ten, even if the top five is still all Big Ten/SEC.

Through seven games, Michigan's quarterbacks have combined to throw six touchdowns and nine interceptions. Now they play Michigan State and quarterback Aidan Chiles, who has thrown... Six touchdowns and nine interceptions.

Notre Dame. The 1989 title wasn't won until 1990 🙂

I mean, in 5-10 years everything that's left is going to either Big Ten or SEC anyway so that really can't be helped.

I’m sure that Arkansas/Mississippi State won’t be the best game of the week but at least it’s starting at 11:45 so that it’s not at halftime at the same time as all the 11:00 games. Sort of a “Turner Time starting 5 after” time slot

We better get the marching band playing the theme song tonight.

Controversial Opinion: I think it sucks to see CFB programs engaging in minor league baseball promotional tactics.

Even worse, it didn’t turn out any fans.

I've been to a couple of Troy games in the past where the attendance was this depressing. I said I had been to high school games for bad football teams that were better attended. Towards the end of the Blakeney era, it was one of the signs that a change was needed.  It's kind of what's a bummer about this year's team as well, and I'm a little worried it's the new normal for them.

The most important story coming out of this game. First post-transition season for the Kats.

Oregon St and Washington St will basically play a home and home against each other next season due to the challenge of being pseudo independents for the year

They will play both games in the month on Nov

Well, they did get the second, but to no avail. Liberty is eliminated from the playoffs.

Lord why hath thou forsaken your worst followers?

Is it just me, or is 16.5 an absolutely wild spread for Alabama/Mizzou?

Like, I expect The Tide will probably win, but nothing that has happened since halftime against Georgia makes me think that should be favored by more than two touchdowns against a ranked opponent.

Brady Cook and their starting RB Nate Noel are doubtful for the game, and Iine has moved 3 points since the start of the week because of that.

Um does Kyle McCord have money tonight on Pitt.  3 INT and 2 of them pick 6 in the first half is definitely not his usual performance

Actually 3 pick sixes in the first half, got the third with about a minute left in the half.

Pitt with another INT! If the Panthers were in the Big Ten they’d be ranked in the top 5.

Brother, Indiana *IS* 7-0 in the B1G and is only ranked #13.

Both of y’all are off to fun starts that you should definitely be enjoying relative to how bad you’ve been recently, but both sets of schedules have big “ain’t played nobody” energy to this point. Voters tend to recognize that, not matter what conference you’re in.

(Good news for Pitt: the only real “somebody” left on the schedule is Clemson, so 10+ wins and at least being in the playoff discussion is definitely on the table.)

Honestly, if you look at 10-25 in the rankings, there are a lot of teams where I’m like, “yeah, that record is nice, but in the grand scheme of things, what are you really?”

Looking at Iowa State, BYU, Illinois, Indiana, Pitt, SMU.

And you typically see that a lot at the end of September, but it’s kinda rare to see that many possibly-fugazi records at the end of October. Conference realignment/imbalanced scheduling causing SOS discrepancies to have a bigger impact deeper into the season, IMO.
