Craig H
So let’s recap… 17.5/1 year for a glove only CF. 17/year for a #3 or #4 pitcher. 17.5/year for the leader of the team that also has a good bat and strong arm? Nope. No fucking way. Sorry Willson, can’t afford ya. Had to save that money for FUCKING CODY BELLINGER. Fuck this team. The dumbfucks talking about money and how AEW should be run in the AEW thread could run the Cubs better.

He was awesome as a rookie. 2 years later, he was freaking Ted Williams for 90 games and wins an MVP. Since then, he's freaking Mario Mendoza with a little more power. Craig H
Yeah. The Ricketts are notoriously broke and poor having suffered "biblical losses." If not for the World Series win, I'd say this team now is run worse than the Zell/Hendry years. And from what I understand, Jed is the perfect yes man/dope to just do whatever Tom Ricketts wants so I'm sure Jed will remain as GM until his soul is finally crushed by ownership and Theo helps give him a soft landing with whatever F1 stuff he's secretly/not so secretly into. Although, even without such a corrupt owner, I think Jed still sucks as a baseball executive and honestly always has sucked as an executive. There's no excuse for how poorly this team is run when you can look at smaller market teams and see how much better they're run and how much better they perform. cubbymark
As much as I agree with Craig about Bellinger possibly being Heyward 2.0, it's only a 1 year deal for now. Had the Ricketts given him an 8 year deal, that would truly have been lunacy.

Death From Above
The Blue Jays have signed *checks notes* literally nobody, seems great Though in seriousness the pitching staff has some real problems. Kikuchi is... who fucking knows at this point, there's no guarantee Hyun-Jin Ryu is going to be any good when he comes back, and Ross Stripling bailed out your ass last year but are you really sure he can do it again? They need more starting pitching or being a contender is a non-starter of a discussion.
