Jrag Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Oh it amuses me but let's not pretend this isn't just responding to childish shit with other childish shit. That doesn't mean it isn't funny, of course. This story ends with a bowl of Campbell's Chunky and the Madden cover. It's pretty much the Richard Sherman path to stardom playbook, but with an added heel presence from the NFL. It's sort of brilliant. Doubt that this was his intention all along if you want, but I will disagree. I'll also be watching Lynch on Conan tonight.
Tabe Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 If I'm the Seattle Seahawks owner, I'm paying for any fines Beast Mode receives. Kinda like what happens with Mark Cuban. Before Cuban became a headache for David Stern, I wish he could have nabbed ownership of a football team and a baseball team. Cuban as a foil for Goodell would be amazing. I believe the reason he doesn't own an NFL franchise is that he'd have to give up the NBA team. One of the leagues doesn't allow you to own any other franchises in any sport. I think it's the NFL. Doesn't Paul Allen own the Trail Blazers and the Seahawks? Must be the NHL or MLB that doesn't allow crossover ownership. It's not MLB - Mike Ilitch owns the Tigers and Red Wings.Perhaps the rule is more specific - you can own NFL/NBA but not NFL/MLB or something.
Tabe Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Ah, here it is: "The NFL, which bans an owner from having ownership interest in other sports teams in NFL cities"
muhammedboehm Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Ah, here it is: "The NFL, which bans an owner from having ownership interest in other sports teams in NFL cities" But we will ignore Mr Benson of the Saints
The Nature Boy Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Perhaps the rule is being read as owning teams in OTHER cities? If Cuban wanted to buy the Cowboys, the NFL would probably let him.
dogwelder Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Yeah, it's fine as long as it's the same city. Hence why the Avalanche and Nuggets are listed as not being owned by Kroenke directly so that he can still own the Rams.
Kevin Wilson Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Yep same city is fine, like the Bills and Sabres are owned by the same person. They just don't want owners torn between two different areas. Or something. So Cuban could buy the Cowboys.
Josh Mann Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 It used to be if you were an NFL owner you couldn't own any other team, period. They loosened the rules to let Wayne Huizenga buy majority of the Dolphins from the Robbies.
RonL21 Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Paul Allen owns the Seahawks and the Trail Blazers. I remember they tried to make him sell one, I forgot which and the reason they let him keep both teams. More than likely Portland not being an NFL threat? EDIT: Late as usual
Dolfan in NYC Posted January 30, 2015 Author Posted January 30, 2015 Cincinnati Zoo penguins pick the Super Bowl winner. 1
_MJ_ Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 And...the full version: This is actually funny. The Mario Kart discussion was my favorite part. Gronk and Marshawn came off well here too. Nice segment.
Burgundy LaRue Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 I love that heel penguin with the troll fakeout.
NikoBaltimore Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Key and Peele had a hilarious Super Bowl special. I can't stress this enough, it is very much worth watching. http://http://www.cc.com/video-clips/docvi8/key-and-peele-super-bowl-special-marshawn-lynch-s-press-conference?xrs=synd_facebook_013015_kp_4 The episode's on their site, but here's "Marshawn and Richard": 1

NikoBaltimore Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 That might have, but I guarantee you there were many segments that were pretty great.
Joe Lucia Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 The best part was that if you showed the first 45 minutes to someone that had never watched football before, they wouldn't be able to tell it apart from the other pregame shows. Brilliant.
hammerva Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 So weird to see ESPN do a special on concussion issue in the NFL on the day of the Super Bowl. Usually they are #1 in the feeding of the Goddell machine Listening to Junior Seau 2 months before his death talking about the problems in the NFL and head injuries knowing what ended up happening is hard to stomach
Niners Fan in CT Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Holy shit, why did I have it on ESPN just now. Carter is insufferable. THE BALLS WERE FLAT. TOM BRADY IS A FLAT LIAR. I MADE A LIVING CATCHING THE FOOTBALL. I CAUGHT A LOT OF THEM. TOM BRADY MADE TWO HUNDRED MILLION. HE KNEW THOSE BALLS WAS FLAT. THEY SEEM TO FORGET THAT THE COLTS BALLS WAS NOT FLAT. Shut the hell up already.
SirFozzie Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 And considering today's NFL.COM report, Carter has apparently taken one two many hits to the head
