I love the conspiracy theorists who think Belloni’s source on the AEW TV deal has to be Nick Khan because they get on and Nick was recently on his podcast. Better than even odds he’s getting it directly from someone in WBD.

I treat any 'leaked' news now the same way I do about anything related to the NFL Draft. Everyone will have an agenda as they get close to when AEW can shop itself around. AEW is going to leak how much demand there is for their show, WBD is going to leak how they have limited options, etc. its all just part of the game. Probably best not to take too seriously anything leaked by one side or the other as we get closer to the date when AEW can take offers from all parties.

I haven't decided yet in my own head if WWE going to Netflix has a good, bad, or no impact on AEW. Its obviously a new way to go about weekly wrestling, on one hand its one less place that can be interested in AEW but on the other hand, Amazon Prime has been spending a shit ton of money on NFL lately as well as their own shows. Would Prime (or another service) be interested in getting a wrestling show of their own at 15% (made up number) the cost of WWE? I have no idea but it'll be interesting to see what happens if WBD doesn't make an offer that AEW "can't refuse" and it opens up to bidders.

Prime is allegedly getting some sort of NBA package, so they’re definitely in the market for more live sport. No idea how that translates to AEW though. And if you’re AEW, in terms of visibility of your product, would you want to be on a streamer if it’s not the number one? Who knows.

Well, Amazon is definitely going to still be in business eight years from now. It makes a big profit every year. Whilst Netflix is drowning in debt and has never made a profit in it's whole existence.

Ha, good timing on these - I just found out what WWE Speed is, so I was asking basically the same questions in the monthly omnibus thread a half hour ago.

The theory I've been operating under is largely similar to what Alvarez floated on the show the other day: I would bet Turner is making probably a decent-to-good offer for the three main shows, but isn't willing to pony up for the tape library or PPV on MAX aspect.

The question then becomes: is there a world where Turner is willing to drop the exclusivity clause so AEW can have TV, but also expand their streaming footprint beyond YouTube? It just feels like a lot of money left on the table not having the last five years of TV/PPV accessible (nevermind the thousands of additional hours between Dark/Elevation and the entirety of ROH)
