Toni was kiiind of right that she got screwed in that one and the fans didn't really seem to care. I wish they would lean more into this being Britt's karma and her now atonement. She made Ruby's life a living Hell when she first arrived and tortured Toni too, which is why I appreciated Ruby's Mean Girl reference of getting rid of Britt's "skanks" on the last show. With her own beef with the Outcasts, I'm looking forward to Ruby/Skye. 4

If it’s not a draw and a rematch in front of a much bigger crowd Tony is lighting some money on fire. Here's a crazy thought: what if Joe wins? 2
JLowe Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 Watching that opening tag, all I could think was how much DEAN~! would have loved it. Darby bumping like a freak and getting bealed halfway across the ring by Keith Lee, who wrestled like the monstrous dude that his is. Swerve and his strange style. OC being OC. Prince Nana at ringside. Darby and OC slowly having to chop down the huge guy. Keith laughing at hurting Swerve as part of the impressive tower spot. A million billion stars, that’s the good shit right there. Acclaimed Every Wednesday, but still doing the same greatest hits match. I have never seen a crowd go from 100 to 0 quite like they did during that Harley Cameron interruption. Yikes. Somebody just drop this bit, give the Acclaimed something real to do, and bring Harley back with a different look and vibe in 2-3 months. I truly hate how much I love the MJF-Adam Cole stuff. The skits really play to MJF’s strengths as an actor/comedian a lot more than his 15-minute promos. He’s doing such a good job at being desperate to gain acceptance from one of his idols, and Cole is doing and excellent job at being the straight guy getting suckered in. The match itself was fun, hard to believe that MJF was basically FiP getting beat down by Daddy Magic. They did a great job of micing the ring and the crowd, but at the expense of the commentary. Boo boo Britt was back, half-assing it while giving Ruby almost nothing and only able to be beaten by the three cheating at once. Best part of the match was when the ref was warning Toni and Saraya about something and Saraya (rightly) yelled “what, we weren’t doing anything!” Willing to bet Ruby gives a hell of a lot more to Skye next week. Main event was really great, Omega was putting Yuta over huge right up until the fuck finish. In the context of the overall match, I didn’t have a problem with Omega getting the pin because of how much he gave to Yuta, but in the context of the interference by Lard Lad I can maybe see giving Yuta another cheap win. Apparently Wheeler hurt his knee or leg there at the end, really sucks and hope it’s not serious. Nick Wayne intro with Darby was great. The Eddie Kingston and Mox segment was great. Really a lot to love on Dynamite, but also a lot to work on. 12

Alvarez had a good booking idea to have Joe win by some kind of fuckery, but start building to Punk vs Joe in Wembley and that's where Punk gets his first win over Joe. From there, and this is where I'm not too keen on the booking, that win earns Punk a title shot at MJF at All Out. Personally, I'd rather keep the booking idea to have Punk lose on Saturday, but do a rematch at Wembley. Then for the title, keep it on MJF and have him drop it to Eddie at Grand Slam, which would be a huge, gigantic moment and it would be a huge, gigantic moment on TV. Again, if it works and it brings in more viewers, then awesome. It shows Eddie should have a little bit of a longer run. If viewership drops and it shows Eddie actually isn't a draw, but is a fan favorite for live shows, then you can move the title off of Eddie after a couple months. Not every title reign needs to be long as fuck and not every short reign needs to be short just because the champion got injured. 4
Craig H Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 Plus, MJF losing to Eddie would be about the greatest MJF meltdown ever. It's the last guy he would want to lose the title too. 3 1

Also, either wrestlers are lying pieces of crap, OR Adam Cole is deceptively strong. The weight on that bench was (supposedly) either 170kg, 140kg or in an unlikely case 110kg (so about 375lbs, 308lbs or 242lbs). With those reps, I'd have no chance of doing what Cole did even if it was 242, let alone anything higher. I guess that sent a message (Cole was an hour into cardio at this point, too)! Ahem Cole wasn’t doing full reps DARBY YOU WANT NO PART OF CHUCKLING KEITH LEE!!! Outcasts win with Teamwork! Wholesome! as an aside feels like some women are missing from the originals coughAbadoncough MJF is your borscht belt comic and world champ 2

Unless he was unintentionally exposing himself though his pants, or something similar? ...Come to think of it, that WOULD explain the tight camera shot in the post production, right? This was a marvellous piece of business, I'm sure there are very few who dispute that and they are probably bad-faith actors, anyway! The level of self-awareness was priceless. That's why I'm doing the whining about Adam F'n Cole effortlessly out-benching me, like it ain't no thing mere two weeks after I said I like my wrestlers looking better than your average 46-year old factory worker (i.e. Me)! Nice one. You win. 1

Curt McGirt Posted July 8, 2023 Posted July 8, 2023 Not sure which was better from that main: Nana yelling "IT'S OVER! IT'S OVER! IT'S OVER!" and the mics catching a fan clearly yelling "SHUT UP!" or Matt Sydal absolutely dying on the finish. Also, that might've been the best Shida match I've ever seen. Her and Shafir did not seem to get along. 3

If Cole was actually doing partials with that weight that’s legit impressive. Could be he just struggles to gain size making him stronger than he looks. (I have the same issue) On an aside MJF could really have a good run as a rough face, pick up that mantle from Eddie
SirFozzie Posted July 8, 2023 Posted July 8, 2023 Ah, Evil Uno. I remember when he got mad and punched out Delirious for calling Princess Peach a Tramp. 3

Somebody who can do 315 for reps comfortably is going to have a potential 1 rep max in the 400s. Cena's biggest bench is 481, and he's a beast who cares about this stuff. Cody apparently used to rep out 315 and indeed tore his pec doing 315 cold (silly lad), Claudio has peaked at 405 1rm but doesn't care, Triple H apparently peaked at 405 too. Otis has a ludicrous 225 for 46, and there are lots of videos of Boogs doing all kinds of ludicrous things. But generally speaking, in recent times I don't think wrestlers who weren't part of the Hard Nocks South crew care about bench. You almost never see it on Celtic Warrior Workouts. AEW used to have a workout set-up at Daly's Place iirc, & they used it for weight skits that were obviously fake because it basically makes no sense to do big bench sets on camera to time. You can be 'stronger than you look', but there are limits and The Man That Hypertrophy Forgot doesn't have the tricep development that might compensate for lack of pecs & delts. It ain't happening, & I am almost certain he doesn't care - infact the whole thing was obv a rib. But anyway, unless you are a powerlifter heavy bench press is pretty stupid unless you absolutely positively need maximal pushing strength. And here's the neat thing - you don't. Even in most legit sport-based scenarios you actually need power, maybe control, which isn't quite the same thing. Yeah I'd still quite like a 315 bench one day. 1

Ryback Hates Bullies Posted July 8, 2023 Posted July 8, 2023 I know it's wrestling, but tbh I find the whole Hangman-Dark Order thing to be very, very bothersome as yeah, Hangman is a bad person and there's no going back from that. You can understand a certain loyalty to The Elite, because without them he almost certainly wouldn't be in the position he is today....but everything the Dark Order said is true and a lot of the fans know it. The Young Bucks, in kayfabe at any rate, are dicks who never really officially face-turned and have never really done anything to compensate for their heel run except get attacked by BCC. So what do you do with this mess? In order to make Dark Order full heels they have to join Callis, but I'm not sure that's the way to go (maybe Uno could join). As far as I can see, the only real way to go to protect the character long-term is to turn Page and have him side with Callis. 2
Curt McGirt Posted July 8, 2023 Posted July 8, 2023 (edited) That's another thing about last night -- Evil Uno and by extension Dark Order finally got a win when it feels like they never had one on actual TV. I'm sure there's been plenty of 'em on Dark and Elevation but I dunno about Dynamite or Rampage. (Brodie doesn't count, sorry) EDIT: There's a * connected to that... it was a cheap interference win!
