  1. Haven't posted in a bit, took a bit of a social media and online break after I hurt my ankle back at the start of the year and was feeling depressed, especially after I was laid up on the couch wearing a walking boot. Good news is that I got the boot off last week and I'm doing well!

  3. This Wrestle-1 show has: -Terry Funk and Mil Mascaras having a very fun legends match with Honma/Nakajima -AJ Styles and Kaz Hayashi doing the most -Murakami trying to kill Tenryu with a broken bottle -Sasaki and Choshu going at it -Shibata and Akiyama trying to kill each other with their bare hands. Like the man used to say: you want ALL of this. OK, maybe not the Predator match. https://archive.org/details/wrestle-1-2005.08.04-wrestle-1-grand-prix-first-round

  8. Visiting a close friend in NC for the weekend and we got to talking about wrestling (he isn't a huge fan). Long story short, him, my daughter, his girlfriend and myself will all be attending AEW Revolution. It will be my daughters first wrestling show ever and she'll be getting to see Sting's final match. She's so excited.

  10. March sees Sting's last wrestling match at AEW Revolution, my last birthday in my 30s next Wednesday, NJPW 52nd Anniversary Show and the build towards WWE WrestleMania XL. The first quarter of 2024 comes to an end, gone quick.

  11. "Liked" just for the Suzie Greene reference. I assumed it was a Julie Winters tribute but I also admit that's probably too deep a reference. Note to Americans, "getting pissed with the missus" means something different in the UK. I need to rewatch the Austin Powers "let's speak English English" scene to get ready for Will's run. Other notes: God damn, The Bang Bang Scissor Gang is a waste of everyone involved, which is a tremendous accomplishment in mediocrity. Its only saving grace would be if it ends in a blood feud where Billy Gun is forcibly retired and the belts are unified. When did FTR changed the name of their finish back to "Shatter Machine?" They had been calling it "The Big Rig" in tribute to Brodie Lee. "40 extra black bats" is in Sting's rider with every venue.

  13. It's too bad the Good Brosephs are over on NXT now, they could be screwing up the tag scene over here too EDIT: Shamefully, The Wrestler was exiled to ROH after he became ALL ELITE instead of getting the spot Moneybags is gonna have. Good job boys. EDIT II: You know, the American Triple Crown actually wouldn't be a bad secondary World title for all these guys to be fighting over, if you want to keep Smo Joe and MJeff and Bad Hair Day and Hungmin and Who's House and Bladefreak in the running for the actual one. (I'm leaving out Storytime, he sucks.)

  14. I think the strangest moment I've had with meeting an athlete was when I met Clinton Portis. I remember looking at him and thinking, "were about the same size," then I looked at his forearm while he was signing something and it looked like the muscles in his forearm were replaced by steel cables. I'm about 5'7 and can be in damn good shape at about 200 lbs. I'm not tall, but I'm a big strong guy. Portis looked like he could ball me up and shoot me like a fake jumpshot.

  15. For anyone who wants to gauge whether they want to snag the Coffin Joe set or not, he's got three movies on Shudder (so maybe Prime too) this month: At Midnight I'll Take Your Soul, This Night I'll Possess Your Corpse (the first two in the initial Ze do Caixao trilogy) and The Strange World of Coffin Joe. And also they got Perdita Durango which you should see if you haven't because it's among the most bonkers shit to ever hit celluloid.

Not happy with Dr Chadwick for that or the mental health nurse either when I said I'll think about it. Will wait to get put on the Trazodone 50mg with Dr Eldridge. Shame it's a fortnight away.

  21. I wonder if the outpouring of people who talk about how great he was and how much they respected him, will cause an uptick in votes and get him into the WON HOF. I have to say that it'd be pretty funny for him to get in after he passes. Considering that his reaction to getting passed over 20 years ago was basically "I don't give two shits about this goddamn hall of fame!"

  23. I'm a big believer that your top singles title and tag titles should both carry the same weight and gravitas, where both should regularly main event shows. So I would have no issue putting my tag champs over

  24. I mostly tuned out on them after Joshua Tree and definitely after Achtung Baby but their first couple albums when they were a young, hungry band who wrote ringing melodic rock songs and some sharp political anthems were amazing. “I Will Follow” makes my arm hair stand in end still. And the martial snare beat to “Sunday Bloody Sunday” is perfect. I just about wore through my cassette of Under a Blood Red Sky (never saw them live, really wish I had back in those days although really Joshua Tree was the first tour I probably would have been allowed to go to if I could’ve afforded it). My first college girlfriend made me a really great, eclectic mix tape and “All I Want is You” was on there and I hadn’t thought about that tape of that song in years but yeah, it’s way up there. Has the heart of the early stuff but the epic anthemic tone of Mark II without drifting into the eventual self-indulgence. Man, I am going to have to listen to some early U2 tomorrow!

  26. I'm a big believer in the (Bill Watts?) philosophy that a regular tag team should always defeat two regular singles competitors thrown together in a one-off. Conversely, when a guy that regularly works tag matches works a singles match against a regular singles competitor, the tag guy should lose. Booking logic.

  28. Reading the WrestlingClassics Ole thread and one poster mentions that David Crockett said Ole Anderson's favorite publication was Mother Jones.. which is certainly a little bit of a surprise Let me attach the Wikipedia description of Mother Jones for the unaware: There's no shortage of crabby people who could potentially be MoJo readers. Just remembered that the title of Ole's book could have been a hint... that book being titled "Inside Out: How Corporate America Destroyed Professional Wrestling". Yeah, I can imagine Ole's perpetual ball of anger being focused on rich fucks that were a pain in his ass when he worked with Turner/TBS.

  36. There are other clips edited in like Dave LaGreca you can skip, not sure if that would save you much time. About 9 min in is when he sort of explains why Cody gave him the shot, around 14 min is when he starts to dig in on Seth but 18 min on is the final run. I like that he got in some old school live date promotion in at the end

  40. The only benches that are itemized are the Chocobo Stops, which only unlock after you catch the region's wild Chocobo. There are still regular benches that are unlimited use. So, thoughts 5 hours in: I think the intro is just telling us how fucked the timelines are right now after whatever occured during the ending of Remake. I loved Remake so I'll just finish this before I say anything about the story. So I wasted about a hour looking around at stuff before progressing through the first 3 stops post Calm and unlocking the Chocobo and Chadley's stuff, and now the game is wide open and there's a fuckton to do. I do know that all Chadley's shit is region specific so I'm going to clear it out a region at a time, so it's going to take me a while to get out of teh Grasslands and move onto the Mythril Cave and Junon. I can see this game taking forever. I'm ok with the crafting as it seems a cheaper alternative to get stuff (possibly better than store stuff?) given the abundance of materials and how quickly they and other fiends respawn. I do like how regular stuff are in yellow chests and equipment are purple. It also looks like the Folio is doubling as Remake's Weapon upgrade stuff, as it looks and acts like the Sphere Grid from 10, which given some other theories and how the Fiends "die", makes a lot of sense depending on how you feel about the "7 and 10 are in the same universe" theory. I do like the Weapons' unique abilties go quickly. Also, that non-active party members also get XP and Materia levels as you go, although I'm guessing there's some issue with Synergy if you don't swap around when needed.
