Gonzo Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 (edited) If we weren't starting a new thread for this for the year, I apologize. Reports are out there that Ken Rosenthal is out at the MLB Network because he criticized Rob Manfred. Edited January 3, 2022 by Gonzo
RIPPA Posted January 5, 2022 Posted January 5, 2022 Per the NY Post - Alex Rodriguez is being removed from the Sunday Night Baseball booth... sorta Instead they are going to be giving him his own version of the "Manning Cast" David Cone is the leading candidate to replace A-Rod on the actual broadcast (The complete booth would be Karl Ravech, Cone and Eduardo Perez)
dogwelder Posted January 6, 2022 Posted January 6, 2022 Various sources are reporting that the New York Times will buy The Athletic for $550 million. No word on whether it will be kept separate or, like The Wirecutter, be rolled into the NY Times.
RIPPA Posted January 6, 2022 Posted January 6, 2022 The deal has been officially announced - they were waiting till after the stock market closed to make it It is supposed to be finalized by the end of the first quarter of 2022 In the statement - the Times is claiming that the Athletic will continue to operate separately. However... Quote The Athletic’s founders, Alex Mather and Adam Hansmann, will remain on board following the acquisition, though each will now report to Times Company executive David Perpich, who will be named The Athletic’s publisher.

cubbymark Posted January 17, 2022 Posted January 17, 2022 Chicago overnight sportscaster Les Grobstein found dead in his home. He was 69.
