odessasteps
Interesting that they did not mention Nancy when discussing the Army of Darkness. And too bad they didn't show the Mike Davis part of the angle. And didn't think that they could also have had Garvin or Barry, not that I fault any of the choices. You def needed Keirn and Roop if they were going to discuss that angle.
Cobra Commander
Brian Blair really didn’t do much out of the 5 panelists, aside from the mooning rib story, but he’s the CAC President so maybe he was helpful for the sake of helping contact guys who could be on episodes?
odessasteps
Yeah, I figured that might be part of it. But he's also a Tampa guy and grew up watching the 70s stuff so he's got that perspective too.
Curt McGirt
Remember that there is cutting room stuff on these episodes so we're getting more stories when they decide to do those extended versions with the creators.

DreamBroken
6 hours ago, HumanChessgame said: The most recent episode made me wonder...did Hogan and Dusty ever wrestle eachother? 2 singles matches in Japan in 1980/1981. Dusty won by DQ and countout. A low quality version of the December 1980 match can be found here in the middle of this Dusty in Japan comp: 1
Cobra Commander
Matches with Hogan and Dusty against each other, all New Japan: 12/9/1980 5/22/1981 (Hogan/Stan Hansen vs Bobby Duncum/Dusty) 5/25/1981 5/26/1981 (Dusty/Inoki vs Hogan/Hansen) 5/29/1981 (Dusty/Bob Backlund vs Hogan/Hansen) 6/1/1981 (Inoki/Backlund/Dusty vs Hogan/Hansen/Bobby Duncum) There's also two matches with Dusty and Hogan on the same team 5/17/1980 (Sakaguchi/Kobayashi/Fujinami vs Dusty/Hogan/Tito Santana, best 2 of 3) 6/1/1980 (Inoki/Sakaguchi/Kobayashi vs Andre/Dusty/Hogan, best 2 of 3) There probably weren't a lot of opportunities for Hogan/Dusty tag team matches on WWF house shows. Although I did find a Hogan/Bossman vs Andre/Haku tag match from March 1990 with Dusty/Savage on the same card that was the last match with Hogan and Andre, and one of two matches with Hogan/Andre after Summerslam 1988 (the other being Hogan/Andre at the Omni in October 1988) So the world didn't get too many Hogan/Dusty vs Dino Bravo/Earthquake matches, or Hogan/Dusty vs Earthquake/Dibiase matches in late 1990. Man, is Andre/Dusty/Hogan a monsters of American Wrestling trio or what. Even if this was a few years before Hogan became big in Japan, that's a loaded trio

Cobra Commander
feels like a catastrophically bad idea to try kidnapping one of David Schultz's family members when you consider what he did for a living post-wrestling
TheVileOne
Dave Meltzer said on today's WON that he heard about a possible Dark Side of the Ring episode being done on Kane and apparently Jim Cornette turning down an appearance in it. Cobra Commander
I believe that Cornette mentioned turning down Vice on his podcast I want a show where the host mentions news he heard that were pretty blatantly on other peoples podcasts
odessasteps
That’s odd, since he did stuff for Tales. he did say he’s not doing any documentaries made by a promotion themselves or partners, like the A&E/WWE stuff.
Cobra Commander
I think Cornette's decision has more to do with Kane/Jacobs as opposed to Vice.
odessasteps
He certainly had a strong anti-Jacobs part of his pod recently.

Cobra Commander
with the World Series game at 7-0, i've remembered to tune in on time for Tales From The Territories Time to get weirded out by the visual of Abdullah the Butcher talking like a normal person
Cobra Commander
Dr. D worked at least 8 tag matches with Bad News Allen, but they were in July 1984 (and one in March 1985), so maybe Dr. D's timeline of "I worked with Bad News in Japan and then we came back to Calgary and he wanted my spot" was a little off? There was an 11 minute six man tag from March 1985 putting Inoki/Sakaguchi/Fujinami vs Bad News/Schultz/Steve Wright. When there's a group of 6 and the least bad man of the six is Fujinami or Wright, that's a group of dudes. Next week is Polynesian Pro?
Curt McGirt
Yep, Poly Pro. Abby almost breaking down was unexpected; Bret's closing words were pretty powerful. Overall though this was a weird one. It felt like you had to know about Calgary beforehand. Bobby Bass was a bump on a log and there wasn't a fifth person. Things were just... off. Cobra Commander
Stampede having 4 panelists instead of 5 really tells you how many plausible panelists are people who died way young, or how Bret wouldn't want to be on a Stampede panel with Bruce and anybody with a brain picks Bret in that situation. They kinda ended the story once Bret was in the WWF. Not sure if there was much else to tell after that.
odessasteps
You’ve got Owen, Pillman and Benoit in the later Stampede, so maybe better to leave it be.
Curt McGirt
Yeah and not just because of the infamy but because they've already covered all of them on Dark Side. Finding out that Vince cheated Stu on the Stampede sale infuriated me. That son of a bitch...
odessasteps
They could have gotten Ferris, but that may not have been made for a good show.
hammerva
The retelling of the Bad News Allen & Archie Stomper angle by Bret kind of paints a different story of Ed Whalen. The argument is that Ed ruins the angle because he was upset about the piledriver on Archie's son and quit. But now it sounds like what really pissed Whalen was Bad News beating the shit out of a really old fan who punched him in the back of the leg. Now whether that was the reason the territory was killed because of the angle not working out is seriously debatable.
Curt McGirt
I dunno. If you read the Stampede book, Whalen was constantly whining about the violence, and even getting the station(s?) to cut up the footage. If he was censoring stuff then fuck that.
