ChesterCopperpot Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Spoiler regarding Ward when AOS returns Wheedon had confirmed he's turning into Hive
Big Fresh Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 I'm gonna add Secret Warriors to my Marvel Unlimited "gotta read" list.
The Natural Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 My early review of Daredevil Season 2, which is completely spoiler-free FYI. Cheers.
The Natural Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 We’re reached the halfway point on Agent Carter Season Two in the UK. Great show, best thing about it is the interactions between Agent Carter and Edwin Jarvis. I chuckle at their exchanges, my favourite was Mr. Jarvis showing Miss Carter around Howard Stark’s gimmicked up car for the females. I must also mention Jarvis’ nod and wink to the fans saying he doesn’t want to be a disembodied voice all his life. I prefer the last season though.
Johnny Sorrow Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 So we probably aren't getting another season of Agent Carter and this one ended with a cliffhanger. Fuck me.
TheVileOne Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Honestly, I'm not so sad. IMHO this show was just kind of boring me at the end of the season. I mean the action was just so dull. Characters were just standing around talking and joking the whole time. Characters are sitting and eating sandwiches in the last episode. There was no threat. No sense of urgency. Whitney Frost was a joke of a villain. All that power and she didn't really do anything at all. She certainly never became Madame Masque. I'm a little let down because Madame Masque has always been a favorite character of mine, and now that's all we will ever see of her in the MCU. I wish Iron Man 3 could've gone the route of characters like Madame Masque and Ghost instead of Fake Mandarin.
Eivion Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 I'll miss it. I enjoyed the characters and thought the general plot was decent. The cliffhanger ending definitely hurts a little as well.
Johnny Sorrow Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 I'm sad cause I loved the show. It was fun and I looked forward to seeing these characters each week. There aren't many shows I actually get invested in, but Agent Carter was one. I just adore every part of both seasons. Daredevil and Jessica Jones are fucking great, no doubt. But Agent Carter is FUN and bright and not all serious, while still not being silly.
NikoBaltimore Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 I'm sure going to miss Agent Carter. I loved most of the characters, especially Jarvis. That was a fun dynamic between him, Peggy and his wife. If it ends, so be it, but it was fun. And they did tie everything up nicely, the cliffhanger's not too earth-shattering for me to wonder what could have been. 1
The Natural Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Great poster. Look at Daredevil's new suit as well.
Jingus Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Having just marathoned through the second season of Agent Carter: I'll miss it too, although it's a bit harder to lament when so much of the show felt so frustrating. Except for Jarvis and Howard, pretty much all of Peggy's male colleagues were either passive simpering love interests or conniving macho sociopaths. That's a combination which gets really fucking old in a real fucking hurry. Character motivations turned on a dime, people switching wildly back and forth between face and heel with no rhyme or reason, with people making murderous betrayals in one episode and being immediately forgiven in the next. "This gangster is such an evil piece of shit that he'll happily murder his own henchmen on a moment's whim... but it turns out he's buddies with Howard, so we should forgive him" and other horseshit like that was just awful. And while I liked the idea of Whitney Frost (basically, "what if Hedy Lamarr was a supervillain?") and appreciated the go-big-or-go-home enthusiasm of Not Christina Applegate who played her, TVO was on the money about her never doing anything. She was like Adam in season four of Buffy, an incredibly powerful enemy who rarely ever used their power, and a brilliant intellect who frequently acted like a total idiot. And HOW MANY TIMES does Peggy have to save the entire fucking world before ANYONE she works for ever believes a single word that she says? 1
Big Fresh Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Forbes reviews Season 2 of Daredevil: "A Little New, A Little Same, All Great, Never Dull" http://www.forbes.com/sites/merrillbarr/2016/03/01/daredevil-season-2-review/#14854378104d
Jingus Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 No no no, that's Hedley. THIS is Hedy: She was an Austrian Jewish actress who became notorious for doing nude scenes and having the first ever on-screen orgasm in a legit non-pornographic film, the European arthouse hit Ecstasy, way back in 1933 (and at the ripe old age of 18). She married one of the wealthiest industrial magnates in all of Europe, but eventually found him to be an abusive, controlling man; she fled him (and the Nazis) and was eventually re-discovered by Louis B. Mayer and put to work in Hollywood. She's probably best known for playing the titular temptress in Cecil B. DeMille's Samson and Delilah. Meanwhile, she found the life of being a movie star to be so fucking banal and boring that she turned to scientific studies just to have something to keep her occupied. She co-invented the concept of Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum, an innovation which allows a single broadcast to constantly change frequencies while maintaining the coherence of the signal. She'd intended this to be used on WW2-era torpedoes in order to avoid enemy jamming of their targeting radar, but the idea proved to be so far ahead of its time that it wasn't adopted for military use until twenty years later. Today, it's still used in practically all wireless technology and every cell phone in the world. And despite brains like that, when she applied for membership in the National Inventors Council? They turned her down flat. Said her time would be better spent acting as a celebrity mascot to sell war bonds, and sent her on tour. So yeah, not only did TV's Whitney Frost completely rip off Lamarr's remarkable life, but so did the MCU's Captain America.
supremebve Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 For what it is worth, there have been reports that ABC is going to bring Agent Carter back for a third season despite the ratings. All of these reports are from anonymous studio people, but apparently they see it as an ongoing companion to Agents of SHIELD which has already been renewed. 1
Johnny Sorrow Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 I don't think Frost was a rip off of Lamarr, as much as inspired by. Same as Howard Stark essentially being Howard Hughes.
Casey Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Agents of SHIELD was pretty good tonight. Ward is going to be a huge badass leading to the Season Finale, he already feels evil as fuck. There was also a pretty cool Daredevil S2 promo at the end. 1
TheVileOne Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Behold the awesome. Batman v Superman can go to hell at this point. This is the only comic book superhero property you should be excited about this month. 1
Casey Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Yeah, that's the one. Totally disagree with what else you said in your post, but it's a pretty cool promo nonetheless. 1
TheVileOne Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 It's OK Casey. In a little over a week, you aren't going to give even the tiniest of craps about Ben Affleck and Zack Snyder's questionable choices in direction.
