Jenalysis
That Regal match- I'm kinda inclined to agree with Regal in retrospect- it did make Goldberg look like a better wrestler. I remember the steak. I remember everyone for some reason thinking Goldberg was Kendall Windham out of prison. I remember being impressed with the monster that knew a few moves. Goldberg should have been a lot bigger than he was, but he had the bad luck of being a WCW guy at the end, which was a curse to many careers. mattdangerously
Triple H going over in the Elimination Chamber did far more damage to Goldberg's credibility than the skit with Goldust.
twiztor
just watched his debut this last Monday on Nitro. i decided to do a "live" count of his streak, since i watch Nitro/Saturday Night/Main Event/Worldwide anyway. i'll have to grab the Pro results online tho, can't find those shows to watch. 1-0 so far. anyway, i hated Goldberg with everything i had as a 15 year old fan. i can't expect my reaction will be much different this time, but i'm looking forward to seeing my views. DEAN
I remember everyone for some reason thinking Goldberg was Kendall Windham out of prison. I was the one who started that. I remember getting confused and going, "Goddam, Kendall worked out like a motherfucker in prison." Then my little brother hipped me to the truth. I am a fool. jstout
Goldberg's streak in WCW would take impossible leaps each week. Has anyone ever figured out, with the help of today's modern Internet, what the streak was closer to being?

twiztor
Goldberg's streak in WCW would take impossible leaps each week. Has anyone ever figured out, with the help of today's modern Internet, what the streak was closer to being? i haven't seen numbers, but i know wcw sometimes would and sometimes wouldn't count house shows. if you include them, i assume the number would be higher than what it is (133 i think) but if you don't it should be substantially lower
jstout
Nah, count house shows, definitely. It just seemed like his streak, once it got so high, would go up by 10 a week or so, which wasn't happening.

Mistah Na1m4rk
The biggest Vince-era WWF/WWE writing screw-up ever? He was a megastar when they brought him in and an odd punchline when he left. Can't all be his fault. As someone who didn't watch wrestling during this period would someone be kind enough to summarize what happened when Goldberg came to WWE? Was he buried in the way that McMahon loved to humble top stars from other promotions when they came to his walled garden? Always liked Goldberg, great athlete, great explosiveness. He was training MMA submissions with Tim Catalfo before it was cool.
Cole Miner
Someone at PWO covered the streak. Well started doing the streak and ended up doing his whole career. Here is the post WINS - 308 LOSSES - 27 NC/DRAW - 18 Most of the losses were 3-Way, 4-Way matches, Battle Royals or some other type of multi-man match. If anyone is interested in the raw data, I'll be happy to send you the excel file. THE STREAK SOURCE: THEHISTORYOFWWE.COM and DDTDIGEST.COM 20 Wins - The Giant (*21 counting handicap against him and Hogan) 10 Wins - Jerry Flynn, Perry Saturn 7 Wins - Curt Hennig 6 Wins - Brad Armstrong 5 Wins - Scott Hall, Yuji Nagata 4 Wins - Fit Finlay, Glacier, Meng, Steve McMichael 3 Wins - Bobby Eaton, Hugh Morrus (*4 counting handicap match against him and Barbarian), Raven, Rick Fuller, Sting, Van Hammer 2 Wins - Barry Darsow, Barry Horowitz, Buddy Lee Parker, Konnan, Renegade, Scott Norton, Sick Boy 1 Win - Al Greene, Bam Bam Bigelow, Barbarian (*2 counting handicap against him and Hugh Morrus), Brian Adams, Buddy Landel, Chavo Guerrero Jr., Chris Kanyon, DDP, Disco Inferno, Hulk Hogan (*2 counting handicap against him and Giant), Jim Powers, John Betcha, John Nord, Johnny Attitude, Kendall Windham, La Parka, Len Denton, Lodi, Manny Fernandez, Mark Starr, Mike Enos, Mortis, Ray Traylor, Reese, Roadblock, Rocco Rock, Scott Putski, Scotty Riggs, Steve Regal, Stevie Ray, Terrance Black, Vincent, Wayne Bloom, Wrath, 9-Person Battle Royal No Contests - Disco Inferno, Chavo Guerrero Jr., Bam Bam Bigelow, and Kevin Nash/Bam Bam Bigelow in a handicap match. Losses - Kevin Nash From 6/23/97 to 12/27/98 - That gives me 148 Wins, 1 Loss, and 4 No-Contests. It is possible I missed quite a few house show matches, but I'm thinking the list started getting padded middle of the way through. After his win over Perry Saturn at Spring Stampede 1998 (4/19), He is announced at 74-0 and the next night on Nitro when he wins the US Title over Raven it's 75-0. At this point I have 68 wins and 2 No Contests. It's highly plausible I'm missing seven House Show/Dark Matches and the record is legit. After the 5/18/1998 Nitro win over Glacier, he is announced at 88-0.(+13) I have this as win 82(+14). His Great American Bash PPV win over Konnan 6/14/1998 is announced as his 100th win.(+12) I have this as win 95(+13). So far I've went from a difference of 7 (75/68), to a difference of 6 (88/82), and now 5 (100/95). His Bash at the Beach PPV win over Curt Hennig 7/12/1998 is announced as win 112(+12). I have 105(+10). The difference is now back up to 7 (112/105). On Nitro Xtra in early November 1998 a win against Meng is counted as 160(+48), but counting the results I have even the announced number would only be 150. My result count is 143(+38). Difference 17(160/143). The night of Starrcade he is said to be at 174-0(+14), but results I have show announced number should be 165(+5) now with 4 total No-Contests. As of the night of his loss to Nash, results I found show a record of 148(+5). So it looks like the streak was legit (+/- 5) until he won the title from Hogan. At that point it started to get a bit inflated, adding upwards of 25 phantom wins. jstout
^Incredibly impressive. If I recall correctly, here's what happened with Goldberg in WWF: 1. He comes in, Rock puts him over like Rover like the true champ he is. 2. Silly skit with him wearing a Golddust wig softens monster status in some people's eyes, but not terminal. 3. The problem: His next program is with HHH, who doesn't give Goldberg the same treatment Rock gave Goldberg. First Goldberg loses in an Elimination Chamber match, then goes way too toe-to-toe with HHH at a time in his run when Goldberg should've flattened HHH like a steamroller. End of momentum, and at that point, momentum was everything. Those with better recall, feel free to chime in.
