Pete Posted July 2, 2019 Author Posted July 2, 2019 Most criminally underrated ELP song? I say yes. Will you stand up or will you freeze That savage woman make you please Turn your inside outside in Still you don't know where she has been Living sin Can't you see through She's going to realize the way to sound you Finally ground you Sudden Never cured by a one night lover Sell you Stories of a meeting with a younger brother Twisty All the people lyin' were just a blind cover No one Ever gonna pry her from a two-faced mother Can't you see through She's going to realize the way to sound you If you never saw it coming Hooked you up with Coca-Cola coming Nice and slippery
Pete Posted July 9, 2019 Author Posted July 9, 2019 Time is never time at all You can never ever leave Without leaving a piece of youth And our lives are forever changed We will never be the same The more you change the less you feel Believe, believe in me, believe, believe That life can change that you're not stuck in vain We're not the same, we're different Tonight, tonight, tonight So bright Tonight, tonight And you know you're never sure But you're sure you could be right If you held yourself up to the light And the embers never fade In your city by the lake The place where you were born Believe, believe in me, believe, believe In the resolute urgency of now And if you believe there's not a chance Tonight, tonight, tonight So bright Tonight, tonight We'll crucify the insincere tonight (Tonight) We'll make things right, we'll feel it all tonight (Tonight) We'll find a way to offer up the night (Tonight) The indescribable moments of your life (Tonight) The impossible is possible tonight (Tonight) Believe in me as I believe in you Tonight, tonight, tonight Tonight, tonight
MORELOCK Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Sold you my therapy You can suss it out Bought a new enemy She can smoke this doubt Every disgrace already made Every word tasting bitter and betrayed Looking for lies, sympathy fuck Useless heart didn't want to change my luck What about today? Sold you an alibi Place me at the scene I live a sorry lie It burns like gasoline What about today?
sabremike Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 This is such a beautiful song. IIRC it was actually written by one of the guys from Blink 182.
Lamp, broken circa 1988 Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 Friends are warmer than gold when you're old And keeping them is harder than you might suppose Lately, I tend to make strangers wherever I go Some of them were once people I was happy to know Mounting mileage on the dash Double darkness falling fast I keep stressing, pressing on Way deep down at some substratum Feels like something really wrong has happened And I confess I'm barely hanging on All my happiness is gone All my happiness is gone It's all gone somewhere beyond All my happiness is gone Ten thousand afternoons ago All my happiness just overflowed That was life at first and goal to go Me and you and us and them And all those people way back when All our hardships were just yardsticks then, you know You know It's not the purple hills It's not the silver lakes It's not the snowcloud shadowed interstates It's not the icy bike chain rain of Portland, Oregon Where nothing's wrong and no one's asking But the fear's so strong it leaves you gasping No way to last out here like this for long 'Cause everywhere I go, I know Everywhere I go, I know All my happiness is gone All my happiness is gone It's all gone somewhere beyond All my happiness is gone

J.T. Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 I am not normally a big fan of pop songs, but this sweet little downtempo track has been stuck in my head all day ever since I heard it on the radio this morning on the way to work. It's that song that plays for your life soundtrack when you're sitting on a park bench on a warm July day and that cute girl from Apartment 201B smiles at you and starts walking your way and suddenly the world is moving in slow motion in a good way.
odessasteps Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 Youtube introduced me to the patti labelle version. Not a fan.
J.H. Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 Fuck does Letterkenny just have a great selection of music but damn if Lisa Leblanc just rock my world James
Curt McGirt Posted October 29, 2019 Posted October 29, 2019 Gotcha! Just found a decent copy of In Color and Black and White for $15 at one of the local record stores, which has moved for the second time since I've lived here and is thankfully far less cramped and dim. The song is Trick at their most BÖC.
J.T. Posted November 5, 2019 Posted November 5, 2019 (edited) Pulled up Demon Days by Gorllaz on Spotify for the ride into work this morning. Totally forgot about this collab they did with MF DOOM. How fitting since November has actually come. Edited November 5, 2019 by J.T.
Pete Posted November 5, 2019 Author Posted November 5, 2019 The singing sea The talking trees Are silent in a noisy way The stars are bright But give no light The world spins backward everyday Oh, look at that! A rainbow rat A checkered cat Go tail in tail along the road The mouse is pleased The moon is cheese The sun is shining hot and cold A golden bird Today I heard Sitting upon a silver branch His little song was very long Which made me sad and start to laugh Hmm, let me see My sister he My brother she But there is only me in the family When I grow up I'll go down The river to the singing sea
Robert C Posted November 5, 2019 Posted November 5, 2019 On a greyhound bus, Lord I'm traveling this morning I'm going to Shreveport and on down to New Orleans Been driving these highways, Been doing things my way It's been making me lonesome on'ry and mean Now her hair was jet black, And her name was Codene Thought she was the cream of the Basin Street queens She got tired of that smokey whine dream Began to feel lonesome on'ry and mean We got together, and we cashed in our sweeps. Gave 'em to a beggar Who was mumbling through the streets There's no escaping From his snowy white dreams Born lookin' lonesome on'ry and mean Now I'm down in this valley, Where the wheels turn so low At dawn I pray, to the Lord of my soul I say do Lord, do right by me You know I'm tired of being lonesome on'ry and mean
