Robert C Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 Kind of an obvious thing to get stuck in my brain right about now. That last line still give me chills. I played the Red River Valley He'd sit in the kitchen and cry Run his fingers through seventy years of livin' And wonder, "Lord, why has every well I've drilled gone dry?" We were friends, me and this old man We's like desperados waitin' for a train Desperados waitin' for a train He's a drifter, a driller of oil wells He's an old school man of the world He taught me how to drive his car when he was too drunk to And he'd wink and give me money for the girls And our lives was like, some old Western movie Like desperados waitin' for a train Like desperados waitin' for a train From the time that I could walk he'd take me with him To this bar called the Green Frog Cafe There was old men with beer guts and dominos Lying 'bout their lives while they played I was just a kid, they all called me "Sidekick" Just like desperados waitin' for a train Like desperados waitin' for a train One day I looked up and he's pushin' eighty He's got brown tobacco stains all down his chin Well to me he's one of the heroes of this country So why's he all dressed up like them old men Drinkin' beer and playin' Moon and Forty-two Jus' like desperados waitin' for a train Like a desperado waitin' for a train The day 'fore he died I went to see him I was grown and he was almost gone. So we just closed our eyes and dreamed us up a kitchen Wrote another verse to that old song (spoken) Come on, Jack, that son-of-a-bitch is comin' We're desperados waitin' for a train Was like desperados waitin' for a train

RandomAct Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 I watched "Bad Times at the El Royale"(really good movie btw) the other day and I've had "Can't Hurry Love" stuck in my head ever since. I've always loved the Phil Collins version, and for shoot had no idea it was a Supremes cover all these years.
Southside Jim Posted May 26, 2020 Posted May 26, 2020 One of the real negatives of working retail is that you have to listen to the SAME GODDAMNED FUCKING SONGS EVERY FOUR HOURS thanks to the in-store radio network. I've developed an almost pathological hatred for The Pretenders' "Back on the Chain Gang," and if I ever meet Chrissie Hynde, I'm going to ask her why she was too fucking lazy to put some more lyrics into the song instead of just putting more and more "oh oh ohs" into it.
Curt McGirt Posted May 27, 2020 Posted May 27, 2020 I felt the exact opposite whenever I heard it at the banks I used to work at. The middle section is so dark and out of nowhere. There are way worse songs... f.ex. Shania Twain's, to give you one from the grocery stores I worked at.
Pete Posted June 2, 2020 Author Posted June 2, 2020 (I don't know if you can, but can you get an order for Ons, that's O-N-S, Junior Market, the address is 1934 East Anaheim, all the windows are busted out And it's like a free-for-all in here And uh the owner should at least come down here, see if he can secure his business if he wants to) April 26th, 1992 There was a riot on the streets Tell me where were you? Cole Miner Posted June 17, 2020 Posted June 17, 2020 Wish I had known about this album when we did the 70s album project. Would have finished very high for me.
AxB Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 So on Friday, Boris Johnson said that the Coronavirus crisis would be over by Christmas. And ever since, I can't get this out of my head:
Curt McGirt Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 (edited) Christ, that sounds like the Newtown Neurotics, especially the vocals. Wow. EDIT: HA! Funny enough the Neurotics would have some things to say about Boris Johnson. Edited July 21, 2020 by Curt McGirt

moribund Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 Because apparently I am approaching an existential crisis that heavy drinking can no longer stave off, and my internal DJ is aware of the fact...
Robert C Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 Was grilling steaks last night and got this stuck in my head. My five year old thought it was great and tried to sing along with me. For some reason, my wife didn't enjoy it as much as we did.

OSJ Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 Pete: You get the oddest damn songs stuck in your head... Of course I was watching some Jimmy Garvin matches earlier and now I have "Sharp Dressed Man" pounding away in my head when I'm trying to work on a Frank Belknap Long collection... If I make some weird choices I'll just blame it on Billy Gibbons. 1
John from Cincinnati Posted August 7, 2020 Posted August 7, 2020 *Don Johnson wandering the streets intensifies*
Contentious C Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 I still have that stupid fucking Killers song stuck in my head from MNF. FUCK YOU MNF. FUCK YOU BAND FULL OF AMATEUR MAGICIANS FRONTED BY AN ALTERED CARBON CLONE OF JOHN MULANEY & HUGO WEAVING. I AM NOT MISTER BRIGHTSIDE! OK, I'm done. Nope, nope, there it is, stuck again. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrgh.
NikoBaltimore Posted September 29, 2020 Posted September 29, 2020 Not the most random of songs but I've had this in my head the past week. It started when I wanted some Black Sabbath while working out and these lyrics just stuck with me. Looking at the comments it's crazy just how many people are interpreting this in ways that make sense for this year and I can't fault them for that. Generals gathered in their masses Just like witches at black masses Evil minds that plot destruction Sorcerers of death's construction In the fields the bodies burning As the war machine keeps turning Death and hatred to mankind Poisoning their brainwashed minds Oh lord yeah! Politicians hide themselves away They only started the war Why should they go out to fight? They leave that role to the poor Yeah!Time will tell on their power minds Making war just for fun Treating people just like pawns in chess Wait 'til their judgement day comes Yeah! Now in darkness world stops turning Ashes where the bodies burning No more war pigs have the power Hand of God has struck the hour Day of judgement, God is calling On their knees the war pig's crawling Begging mercy for their sins Satan laughing spreads his wings oh lord yeah! 1
