BloodyChamp Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 In a world where every quarterback is overrated, Purdy is probably not going to get enough credit for this game because of other recent hiccups. He’s got a young Brett Favre or Steve Young thing cooking right now. If it’s not there get it to the TE and if that’s not there run for 5 YDs which is good enough. And the busted Packer sweep throw when he ran was also a good play that won’t make a highlight reel.
RIPPA Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 Bears CB Tyrique Stevenson issued a public apology for his actions on the last play Which isn't surprising because Matt Eberflus basically blamed Stevenson (without actually blaming him) in his post game press conference Oh - it also should be noted that after getting burned earlier in the game, you can find clips of Terry McLaurin saying directly to Stevenson "You ain't shit" To paraphrase Pat McAfee "29's gonna have a BAAADDDDD time in meetings this week" 1
hammerva Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 Meanwhile Anthony Richardson is getting his fair share of grief for asking for a rest because he was winded. Quarterback is the one and maybe only position where you can't use the "I need a breather" card. Even if he is probably going a ton of moving giving their O Line

He got tackled awkwardly, it probably hurt, but he was ultimately fine. He probably said this not wanting to sound like a bitch, but ended up sounding like an asshole. 2
Tabe Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 Fun stats from yesterday's Lions game: Kalif Raymond became the first player in NFL history to have a punt return TD and receiving TD in the same game. I'm flabbergasted that's never happened before. Raymond's 38.0 punt return average is a single game record (minimum 5 returns). Jack Fox's gross average of 60 yards and net average of 55 yards on punts are both single game records (minimum 5 punts). I think the most amazing stat is that Detroit scored 52 points and still punted 5 times. 2

Ooof... 3
RIPPA Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 Oh as a reminder how ass like a third of the league is The New York Giants at 2-5 (soon to be 2-6) would hold the 10th pick in the draft There are 10 teams with 2 or less wins.

So many guys that were great returners that also would see the field on offense, yet never got 1 of each in the same game. IMO, what I would think would be harder feat to accomplish has actually been done *11 times* in history; Pass, Rush and Receiving TD in the same game. 1
BloodyChamp Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 Not even Deion Sanders? Eric Metcalf? Rocket Ismail? Wow. One reason is because many returners didn’t play alot of offense but I would have thought it would have happened.
BloodyChamp Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 How close or far removed to Vince McMahon do you put Lawrence Taylor?
hammerva Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 (edited) Steelers had 2 TD called back. One on a blatant penalty and other because Pickens for some reason couldn't get that foot down. I am sure this won't come back to hurt us Luckily the Giants is equally incompetent around the end zone Edited October 29, 2024 by hammerva
BloodyChamp Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 The Giants defense sucks so bad wow. They can’t even squat and do a basic pee wee football tackle to upend a ball carrier, which is all it would take because the Steelers aren’t exactly running at them like Franco Harris.

Metcalf only had 2 point return TDs - both in 1990, a year where he had just 1 receiving TD. Rocket didn't have any punt return TDs. Side note: TIL Rocket had a pair of 1000 yard receiving seasons. I thought he played like 5 minutes in the NFL.

Even if he is probably going a ton of moving giving their O Line I know Giants/Steelers is going on but Richardson legit tapping out is just wild. McAfee champions everything Indiana yet this is the short version of a 20 plus minute tirade. Between the Thursday facemask non-call, Tyrique fucking up bad and this this is one of the damndest weeks I've seen in a while. And it's only halfway through the season. odessasteps Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 I could have believed Brian Mitchell had done it.
BloodyChamp Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 Brain Mitchell was another one I would have guessed wow. They actually benched the guy who couldn’t tackle they just said.
BloodyChamp Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 I’d fire him ftw. All game yelling and crying on the sidelines like Mike Ditka while they break the record for presnap penalties, and that’s his decision when it comes time to calm down and make one. 1

He returned punts in his 2 CFL seasons and had one touchdown each year 1
