I'm pretty sure Kota did sign. I remember him getting an All Elite graphic. I'd be fine with never seeing Ricky Starks, Wardlow, or Miro ever again. Edited September 17, 2024 by Nice Guy Eddie 4

The commentary team can just say they phoned up Jericho and asked him how the match went, and Jericho told them he won, and then sent them the clips they showed on TV (and nothing more). this is probably shoot what happened

EVA Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 (edited) Very unfortunate set of circumstances for Keith Lee that A) the wrestling business as a whole was slow to come around to him, B) when it finally came time to cash in, he chose the promotion that didn’t value his skill set, and C) Covid impacting his health in such a way that effectively closed the window in which he was physically capable of using his full skill set. hammerva Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 It might already be out there but the next NFL Films Presents will feature segments with Tony Khan on how he is juggling both the Jaguars and AEW. It seems like it was film during that draft and his neck brace. You know remember when the lead heels injured Tony Khan and stretchered him out and it was completely ignored about 2 weeks later. 2

Everyone swore he would run the world if he left WWE, yet hes been completely forgettable and apparently turned down plenty of storylines. Kind of seems like a headache to deal with(remember him announcing his Lana proposal mid storyline with Lashley?)and I've yet to see a single match that proves Miro is actually good, hes just a beefy dude with 4 moves. He apparently is signed for 2 more years, will be interesting to see if he actually wrestles in that time considering he's apparently injured every 2 weeks and since 11/21 he has wrestled less than a dozen times. 2
Nice Guy Eddie Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 I seem to recall Miro having a good match against Eddie Kingston for the TNT title, but if he's a headache to deal with and turns down storylines, TK might be better off cutting bait. 2

I assume AEW can add all the time they want to Cole's contract but I think it has gotten to the point where we have to wonder both when will he actually returns and what he will look like as his injury is clearly worse than most anyone assumed it'd be. I have an online friend who broke the hell out of his hand in a sparring accident (got tossed, hand planted and snapped a bunch of things) and ended up with a metal chain/plate put in and even with rehabbing as hard/early as he could the part near said metal bit is an issue. He pushed hard because he found out that if you don't get motion back soon with stuff like this it may not return. I mention this as he read what got put into Cole's foot (feet?) and when he heard how close the metal bit was put to his ankle joint he said that he wouldn't be shocked if he was never the same, he couldn't think of a worse place based on his experience with one to have to put that kind of plate. I dislike watching Adam Cole wrestle but I feel bad as he seems like a swell human being and I think we are now at live odds to his career being potentially forever changed. 1
odessasteps Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 I wouldn’t be surprised if Cole could make a decent living just streaming, given the way some of his fans on stream drop the coin while watching. And if is back living in central PA, the cost of living is probably better than living in Orlando or Tampa. 1

SovietShooter Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 It's interesting... when it became clear AEW was a viable product, one of the first things people did was look at who was perceived as being underutilized in WWE, and wanting to see those guys get a shot in AEW. And for every success like Swerve or Danielson, you have a Miro and Andrade. It just goes to show that sometimes the promotion/booker/company isn't the problem. Some guys just had bad luck with injuries... Cole headlined the first Wembley show, so it is hard to call his run a failure, but it is hard to call it a success either. Keith Lee's run was short, but it was really solid; If this was the territory days and he came in for a run like that and moved on, I think it would be classified as a success... but by today's standards it is not. And guys like Wardlow and Starks... they're kinda victims of AEW's success. Yeah, Wardlow cannot stay healthy, but he also never really showed much progression. He has been eclipsed in his role by guys like Big Bill and Hobbs. It probably is time for those guys to move on, and see if they can get a fresh start. 7
Casey Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 Wardlow’s best shot at starting over would be TNA now, and maybe he gets a look from WWE that way if that partnership continues. But they’ve already got people that do stuff he can do (and more), are his size, and have a star quality about them. I’m not a fan of Ricky Starks, and see him as a dollar general Rock, so whatever. To me, their best shots were in a place like AEW but we’ve already moved past what their roles would typically be. Why get behind Wardlow when you have Big Bill now? Why get behind Ricky when you have literally anyone else on the roster (I kid, but I really just don’t get the appeal). Miro is a weird combination of AEW being too relaxed on things (at the time?) and him probably just being too difficult to work with when he’s outside of a place with an established, structured hierarchy like WWE. It’s one reason why I don’t think Punk is going to lash out there like he did here, because there are systems in place to keep people in check. AEW doesn’t (or didn’t) have that, so things just kind of ran amok. 2

Ricky's role has really been taken by Okada of all people. Cool, funny heel who can back it up in the ring. I mean, it's not really fair because of the resume Okada brought with him, but I'm impressed with Okada's dedication to trying the American style and it's paying off for him big time. 2

You could kinda say the same thing about Adam Cole, and Jay White. I think Adam Cole is a solid worker and has a ton of charisma (that hasn't always been showcased properly, IMHO), but Jay White is probably better, and has just as much charisma. I mean, Bang Bang Gang > Undisputed Kingdom 2
Casey Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 The weird saga of Danhausen continues, with him getting a new Diamond Select statue that’s releasing this week. Take a moment to consider that the people that previously got one of these are Punk, Danielson, Sting, Jericho and Mox. The dude is obviously a moneymaker, and popular, but hasn’t been around in… months? A year? Not like he’s injured anymore, he’s doing the indie loops pretty heavily right now. Now, granted, production on this likely started awhile ago, but still. All of those names are main eventers and big stars, and he’s the next one up. (also those things are pretty cool, if you’re a fan of any of them and like buying their stuff, it’s a worthy purchase) 1
