I’n still placing my bets on Swerve & Hangman’s final match being an exploding barbwire match. It’s not over and Hangman is clearly in that inbetween phase while we wait for Swerve to come back, the Jarrett feud being just a stopgap. If it’s truly not over between them, this is the only place left to go in terms of violence. 4

He could save himself some breath if he just printed out that "Rusev is on a tank. Your argument is invalid." meme and showed it to people when apropos. (And it probably would have been funnier had I linked to the actual image, but it seems to have disappeared from the internet. Weird.)
Gordi the BJW fan Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 ELEVEN (11) HOURS of Nigel in ROH. It's no secret that I think Nigel bullying Tony S and relentlessly ladling out heel cliches and misusing five-dollar words on commentary is the absolute dirt f'n worst and I hate it so much that I basically can't even watch Collision most weeks. On the other hand, I LOVE watching him fight and this is an absolute f'n treasure trove. Good Lord, it's excellent of them to put this up on YT for free. It's not like most of us here need to get MORE hyped for Nigel vs Bryan... But if anyone needs reminding of their truly great ring chemistry, there is PLENTY of that here. 3

Crowds are dead for him, if not giving “go away” heat. I dont watch weekly tv only big events, but I disagree as I think Perry has been a great heel and probably the only redeeming part of the horribly botched Elite storyline. Okada is meant for better things and TYB are barely even relevant at this point, Perry is the only one involved in storylines and the American Dragon match was excellent. 3
The Natural Posted September 24, 2024 Author Posted September 24, 2024 (edited) 5 matches on AEW Grand Slam Dynamite 2024 and 6 on AEW Grand Slam Collison looking at the Wikipedia entry. Feels too much, some matches are going to get short changed. Hope the matches that need the time get it. Edited September 24, 2024 by The Natural
Casey Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 tbh if Nigel/Bryan is anything more than 10 minutes then it’s a joke. Dude has been a full time commentator for years now, and hasn’t wrestled outside of that battle royale in like 13 years. He should not be taking the World Champion to the limit. Especially if this is just a one and done thing, and he’s not going to be an active wrestler from now on. Fair play if this is the catapult for Nigel back into the thick of things, but I don’t think it is.

I thought it was just me! I can't STAND Nigel's commentary. It's just so phony and obviously him playing the "bad guy colour commentator" role that it doesn't suit him at all. And the majority of his insults to Tony are just kind of lame or mean-spirited, unlike Taz who generally tweaks Tony in a way that you can kind tell Schiavone gets a kick out of (Though they've both crossed the professional line a time or two). Plus, his "obsession" with Danielson generally takes over the match and undermines whatever story they're trying to tell in the ring. He's like the Dollar Tree version of Jesse Ventura. 3 1

Now the rest of his run is on him and badluck/injuries, but i don't think he ever got that momentum back. He murdered MJF on PPV then three days later MJF is "shooting" on Dynamite and evertone forgot what happened. I think what was bigger was the lack of follow through he goes from squashing MJF to feuding with Mark Sterling? Also I've never seen his as a sure fire main eventer

'Misusing 5 dollar words'? Yes, he's a heel, the cliches part is certainly questionable. To anybody paying attention, he saves commentary from drifting off into his colleagues sometimes silly remarks. Especially true on Saturday Nights with Schiavone (every time out) and anytime he's joined the inconsistent ROH team. He clearly does his homework and his in ring knowledge accentuates a heckuvalot of the action he calls. He's a highlight of any PPV commentary team. To each their own. In my estimation Nigel McGuiness is the best color commentator in the game. Anybody got any recommendations within that 11 hour set?

He pushed hard because he found out that if you don't get motion back soon with stuff like this it may not return. Heh, funny coincidence. I fell and broke my humerus and dislocated my shoulder in I wanna say 2016? They put a metal plate (with ten screws) in it, basically butchered me to where my scar is just disgusting. I rehabbed for six months but I still can't raise my arm above my head anymore, unless I throw it up to something higher to hold onto, then when I remove it it just drops like dead weight.
A.M.B. Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 From what I’ve seen the Outrunners are getting more and more over and I really think AEW should just put the titles on them. The Young Bucks’ reign has been extremely aimless and the only thing it’s good for right now is putting over an act that really needs it. It probably should be on Grand Slam cus if they run that match on a PPV I feel it’d be more telegraphed and less surprising if the Outrunners get the big win. There’s not a single team I can think of right now who’s on the precipice whose act is actually going to be enhanced by holding titles. They’re one of the few acts on the show who’s having consistently great vignettes. Pretty much every title is all about having these epic, long matches and having the tag titles being more light hearted would give shows a good change of pace. The Acclaimed were kinda like that but were never having that great of matches and aren’t quite entertaining enough to be mindless fun for me. Having the Outriders just be comedic underdogs who can hang on to the titles with a roll up would be a great change. When they do go out and finally try for a barn burner it’ll actually mean something. Knowing AEW tho they’re probably gonna add some random to their team, have them win the less meaningful trios titles, and defend them regularly on Rampage. 1
AxB Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 The Outrunners already have a third man, but he's injured for the forseeable future. Spoiler Dalton Castle. 1

YES. the tag titles are LANGUISHING right now. an unexpected title change would be hugely welcome. And I would love to see the Outrunners get the win. might i suggest Battle of the Belts? they happen roughly quarterly, so the next one would be due in October-ish. 1
Phantom Lord Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 Wasn't there a report that The Outrunners were moving serious merch and making money for the company? If the iron is hot, strike with it. 2

Go2Sleep Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 As stupid as it would be, I would even take Ospreay/Fletcher winning the belts, then Callis forcing Will to give up his belt to Takeshita or a returning Davis. Anything to get the belts onto a team with heat. 1
