Most notably the rise of the Outrunners whom I too am all for strapping. I'm hoping they get a nice build to such a momentous occasion. I like the Fletcher-Ospreay team and would welcome them on top for a run. Not at all with the fantasy booking of an Aussie Open split. They're too good as a team (exactly what the division needs) to let them both flounder as a pair of midcard singles. Further, I like that Fletcher-Ospreay rep two singles stars coming together - this should happen more often. There's a lot of great wrestlers without momentum or a secure place on the card that could benefit from banding together with somebody in a similar place. Not that Ospreay is a good example. The Division needs some star power. Here's hoping Rush and the Beast or Roddy and the Beast become a real true threat. The trios titles always seemed like a weak idea. Trios matches don't need nor benefit a great deal from championships being passed around. There's little to no prestige. More often wrestlers end up seeming stuck in the pointless builds/feuds. It also never feels like there's actually a division. Number 1 contenders seem to happen from somebody randomly cutting a promo on whomever the title holders are. And as mentioned, teams are shoehorned into either Trios or Tags and unable to mix between. It also often messes with the booking dynamic of having a trios match to build to the more important tag or singles match. Said dynamic sometimes reveals far better trios teams than the ones battling for gold. All that said, more intrigued by the Pac/Claudio/Wheeler team than most any of the stories they've told. Curious who the mystery challengers might be. Edited September 25, 2024 by HarryArchieGus 2
Technico Support Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 Six man tag belts need some sort of gimmick or hook. Otherwise, they’re just “our regular tag belts with an extra dude.” Off the top of my head, I’d go with actual trios rules or at least the “no tags” rules. Or every match is tornado style or elimination. Something. Put he belts on some crazy highspot workers and make it the crazy ass PWG party match title. Make it so you know that a six man title match means crazy shit is incoming. AEW does enough multi man matches that they could defend it every week. And it goes without saying don’t let the Acclaimed and Billy Gunn anywhere near them. 6

Go2Sleep Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 The tag division has booking issues due to the Bucks not doing anything with the belts, but the division is probably the deepest it's ever been. Bucks, FTR, Acclaimed, GYV, BCC, HOB, Outrunners, MXM, Top Flight, Kingdom, potentially Aussie Open, various Conglomeration and Callis Family combos... If nothing else, Tony could fall back on the good old 16 team tournament, or the old All Japan style tag league. 2
EVA Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 I think the plan was clearly to do Bucks vs. reunited Edge & Christian at Wembley, and Copleand’s injury derailed everything. Seems like we’re in a classic TK holding pattern until he’s healthy and they can circle back around to it. 3

Might as well give The Outrunners the belts and freshen things up rather than keep them on the stagnant Bucks. If re-uniting Cope & Christian is still in the cards when Cope returns, then so be it. Keeping the belts on the Bucks isn't helping anybody. 1

In all honesty, though, I actually thought Raw Underground (Shane's big idea) was kinda cool and, at least, a little different presentation-wise for WWE. I think if they had tweaked it and, more importantly, kept it separate from WWE they could have at least built up some new stars with it. I liked Shane as the mouthy Dane White-esque leader of the group and while the shootfights were..ehhh....they could have worked on the concept a bit. I think if the concept had been a little more "This is different" and less "This is really REAL" it might have stood a chance, plus keeping Vince and Dunn away from it. 3

I assume we can agree to forego the bad lighting? I'm failing to remember an example where the stipulations chosen weren't a disappointment or a weak intrusion. The concept seemed, at times, confusing to the audience, and in need of Excalibur explanations. More than any of that, I never understood why the defending Champions would offer their challengers a potentially advantageous stipulation. Because they're so bad ass? A difficult concept for the chicken shit heel teams. 4 hours ago, AxB said: Saraya re-signed for another year in AEW. Saraya alongside Harley have been quietly killing it on Rampage. An incredibly fun heel duo. Looking forward to the Hayter bout on Collision. I still think Harley/Saraya would be better with a third - a stronger worker. Somebody lacking the charisma Harley/Saraya bring. 4

AxB Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Nyla and Saraya, in the same stable? They're not exactly politically compatible, on a personal level.
