Joe Hendry is headlining a WWE PLE tonight.

Imagine saying that to yourself 2 years ago.

Id had said “is that someone’s new wwe name?”

Yeah, seriously. Or "Hendry Jones," "Joseph Fendlee," maybe even "Bronson Bron Braun."

Mongo's chihuahua was only the second-most over animal in the company with that name during the Nitro Era, funny enough.

Chaco really went hard with every stupid thing they gave him. To this day, I can remember “look Uncle Eddie, I’m cheating to win!”

What are some popular/heavily hyped wrestlers you were in the minority on? Low-Ki, Shawn Michaels, Will Ospreay and Marty Scurll for me. Scurll, long before what he'd done. You thought Marty had a big future as a prominent Bullet Club member, and would go to AEW like Cody, Kenny Omega, Hangman Adam Page and the Young Bucks who I don't like either. Instead, Marty Scurll became head booker of ROH then Speaking Out.

Shelton Benjamin. He was a fine wrestler and had some rather good matches but he never struck me as the future top guy tons of people claimed he was.

At one point AJ Styles was this for me but he changed my views after he left TNA and went to NJPW and WWE. I never got the hype for Scrull either he was always the worst guy in the elite IMO, and I’ve never been big on the Young Bucks either (though they can really nail it when they want too.)

Scurll, always seemed like a midcarder posing as a main event guy to me. The aura of sleaziness was also offputting long before 2020.

Shawn Michaels is largely responsible for the only time I've stopped watching wrestling since 1991, I just couldn't stomach him as a babyface main eventer, and when I was 11 I didn't really have the option of migrating to ECW or Japan.

More controversially, I was never as big a fan of Eddie Guerrero as a lot of people. I was still delighted when he beat Brock, but I don't think I fully appreciated how great he was in real time, and even though he made the whole cheating routine as charming as it was possible to make it, I'd prefer it if most heels didn't cheat, let alone faces.

That stupid finger breaking spot he used to do! Have any of you been to a massage parlor? That’s all he’s doing!

I liked Marty Scurll to the point of being into the plague doctor cosplay. Yes, I still have the plague doctor costume.

I’ll be the one to say it. Bryan Danielson during his AEW run. If he wasn’t into faking injuries every match I’d love him as much as you do, but that takes away my enjoyment of his work. I’ll admit he’s the greatest ROH Champion ever though.

I’d also throw in FTR as being my version of what the Bucks are to you and others. I can’t stand the Bret Hart tribute act and Dax in particular annoys the hell out of me.

The one act I’m really loving in AEW at the moment that I’m glad to see getting love here is The Outrunners. When I attend Dynamite and Rampage in two weeks I hope to see Turbo Floyd and Truth Magnum (oh and Mariah May).

I think we all know. Adam Cole. I have no idea what his appeal is. He's tiny, wrestles like he's huge, and has no idea how to structure a match or sell.

I was never as high on Steve Austin as others. It used to piss me off that he Stunned other babyfaces. Guys who were trying to help.

The Hardy Boyz. Mostly because of their fans, I guess. I get along with both my parents and so I don't know what it would be like to identify with the aesthetic they were going for. I always like E&C and the Dudleys more. And the New Age Outlaws.

He's right in the fact that the fans who still LOVE Benoit, ARE the fans who would probably forgive Hogan. In a general sense though, are you fucking kidding me?

I'm with you on Adam Cole. Surprised I didn't mention him in my OP.

I can't watch Chris Benoit anymore and see him in the same light after the double murder suicide. This is coming from someone who idolized Chris Benoit: he was in my top five wrestlers of all time, my username was The Crippler here from September 2005-June 2007 and I was so made up when I won a signed Chris Benoit picture. I framed it for my wall but took it down where it's remained in a folder ever since.

F Hulk Hogan. I was naively hoping WWE would sever ties with the racist pos.

I'm going to make a weird comparison here , I don't know if you guys have Starbucks across the pond but years ago they introduced the Pumpkin Spice Latter and would only bring it out during fall (and then bring out the Gingerbread Latter for winter) it was unique and I would usually pick up once during the season. Now we have pumpkin spice everything all the damn time everywhere.

That how I feel about Will Ospreay being progenitor of the so called Video Game Wrestling. I thought his BOSJ match against Rick O'shey (who should be teaming with Great O'Khan) but now I see that style up and down the card of every indy show I go to

We have Starbucks. Prefer it to Costa.

Funny you mention pumpkin items during the Fall we call Autumn here as I was looking at Greggs, a bakery chain in the UK yesterday and they're bringing out pumpkin flavoured items for the season.

It's an apt comparison. When I think of Will Ospreay, he does the odd good thing and the rest bad. Ospreay's biggest fault is doing too much in matches, over indulgent. The big moves, quick recovery. Some of his matches go way too long. The Steel Cage match, United Empire vs. Bullet Club War Dogs in NJPW this year a prime example.

I think it was a few years ago we had a Will Ospreay vs. Kenny Omega discussion here. I much prefer Kenny Omega to Will even though Kenny's OTT facial expressions can irritate me.
