Another thought - MJF and Cole get enough of a babyface reaction that they need to get those belts on Jay and Juice right f'n now. FTR can take the loss, they're tied to Punk and don't need to be champs to be relevant. Plus MJF/Cole vs. FTR rushes an MJF vs. Punk storyline that doesn't need to happen until after All In. Cole as ex-Bullet Club, Jay White as the guy who almost ended Cole's career, Jay vs. MJF on the mic, Juice just SCREAMING LIKE A FOOL while all the goofy 80's babyface spots happen... it's an absolute no-brainer.

p.s. I've been calling Jake Hager the most underrated guy in the company the entire time. The timing on his release of the hat... I'm heartbroken. Jake Hager vs. Chris Jericho for the Lineal Lucha Underground Championship in whatever LU gimmick match you want.

I'm not sure why Blood and Guts is on Dynamite and not a PPV (it's got to take up the entire second hour, right?), but the lineups for both teams has my interest.

Because WBD is paying a Tony K a lot of money...

Adam Cole teaching MJF the value of friendship is surprisingly wholesome, MJF as the new Eddie Guerreo has some legs if they choose to go there

I'm just saying I wouldn't kick the outcasts out of my bed if I caught all three of them eating crackers in my bed.

Both tag matches where great in their own way

Swerve is so much better as a heel

We get a QTV segment... meanwhile where the fuck has Keira Hogan been? Maybe book a second womans match instead of this garbage

Its okay to do a main event angle or opening match promo. Just cause the other place does it don't mean its bad just don't do it all the time

Are they doing Dustin/Lee vs Menard/Parker on Rampage? That’s booking directly for me.

TEAM DADD IS BACK AND I AM HERE FOR IT!!! On a similar note I am of the opinion that Matt D and Don Callis are one and the same

If they have MJF turn on Cole after this, it will be one of the biggest misses in AEW history. He's had a great run as a heel, but it's time to send him to the next level as the face of the company. He had the crowd chanting whatever he wanted and he got the freaking bodyslam spot over like crazy. I could see some subtle hints at a Cole turn with Roddy telling him he's changed and some couples bickering on the phone with Britt, but I really hope they don't turn him either. The biggest swerve of all would be MJF finally finding real friends and having a nice supportive circle with Cole, Roddy, and Britt. I think someone said last week that Cole and MJF should hit their first double clothesline on Schiavone, and with a few more weeks of him going all Frank Grimes on their team, I think that would be pop of the year.

I'd rather watch 8 Gambler matches than one 40 minute match where Roddy gets all his shit in. I eagerly await  Jericho v Gambler 30nyears in the making rematch on Dynamite in 3 years

Kiera's spent the last 2 months on ROH if you haven't seen, I highly recommend her feud/matches with Athena there

This tracks with your typical AEW wholesomeness.  For example, Kenny telling the BCC that they'll defeat the BCC's bully shit with love and friendship was amazing.  But I just don't see MJF turning face yet.  I feel like it's going to be a scorpion and frog thing where MJF just can't fight his nature to be a shitheel.

Skye Blue has lapped Jade Cargill, hasn't she?

In-ring, the list of women on the roster Jade is better than is shorter.  She has a ton of charisma and presence but she's stagnated in-ring and also as a character.  I can understand taking time off but fuck, after losing the title, couldn't they have had her cut a promo like, "my head got too big and I surrounded myself with yes-people who didn't look out for my best interests.  I'm taking time off to work on myself and I'll be back to kick ass."

Even if they had her cut such a promo once she returns, without regular house shows currently, they really ought to be leveraging that NJPW partnership to try and get her over to Stardom. I'm not a big Joshi guy, so maybe there's something im missing that makes it a terrible idea, but she was whiffing on moves *before* the x-month-and-running layoff - I think time in their dojo would serve her super well

Edit: I DID forget when I wrote that, that reportedly, part of why she didn't go to WWE was because of time away from her kid - so I could see a tour of Japan being unappealing for the same reasons

Jade may or may not be done with wrestling

I remember seeing that posted here but was rolling with the general consensus that she was likely working - but who knows. If that's the case, there's probably still some $ on the table (at the very least for a one and done Stat rematch) but what can ya do.

As I said, MJF can make anyone interesting. It’s interesting to me that TK will stop at nothing to put Cole in a position where he looks like a top star. Imagine if Khan went out of his way this much for a guy with actual star power, like Swerve Strickland or Ricky Starks.

Also, it sucks a fat bag of llama dicks that the BCC guys keep having to take a powder when the young bucks show up. If I were going into a 5 on 5 street fight and I found out two of my opponents were the fucking Jacksons, two guys who wrote a passive aggressive chapter in their book bitching about how they got beaten up in a professional wrestling match, I’d be licking my chops. But EVP’s get to EVP, right? “Tony said sell!”

While I immensely appreciate your opening Wesley Willis/Winamp reference, I had a little bit of a different read on it - like the Bucks are getting a little big for their britches, and BCC is simply patiently waiting and biding their time for the B&G match itself.

The build HAS been a little repetitive, and I DO like the Elite guys more than you (duh lol) so with that said, I'll say: I agree with you, but with the caveat that it bothered me purely based on the repetitious aspect, and not for the actual content.

(Though, I will say, conventional booking wisdom dictates that with BCC having powdered a couple times, that they're likely to dominate the match, if not go over - so at least there's maybe that for you to look forward to as an Elite/Bucks non-fan)

Quick edit: If I were a betting man, I think the smart money is on Kenny or Ibushi sacrificing themself for the other for our finish

Quick edit (Stu) Dos: Maybe we get a redux on the year one Elite/Hanger angle, but this time, Hangman is united with the Bucks, and you've got Kenny 'on the outside' with Ibushi in the 'Dark Order new-friend' role?

It's a shame

Spoiler

that Liger is done because he did wrestle Owen. There's a 30 second clip of it on Facebook that shows Owen's freakish agility but the clip immediately after it that it changed to was hentai porn apparently so I ain't posting it here.

Dang! Rampage gonna be Willow vs Ember, Limitless Dust vs 2.0, Archer vs Trentylocks, and a Takeshita squash.

That is booking straight at my heart! Four bullseyes and zero bullshits. Four straight matches of nothing but wrestlers I really like kicking each other's asses all over the arena.

Then it's straight into the G1! If nothing else, we'll get Kingston vs Ishii, Kingston vs Shingo, and Ishii vs Shingo matches, since they are all in the same block.

Pro wrestling, ladies and gentlemen! Pro wrestling.

Don't forget him fighting Giant Baba and Antonio Inoki in the same night in Japan and flying to America do all that in the same day, brother!

EDIT: Shit... Canada. Does that ruin my joke? I mean Baba and Inoki are both dead so that probably ruins it too.

I caught up to Dynamite on the treadmill last night. Back from vacation now. Vacation was good. The girls were happy. All is well.

Let's see what I even remember:

  • Jericho taking a lucha guy's offense is never pretty. I liked some of his power moves from 1998 like the double power bomb though. It got a lot of time and matches like this are always good for Komander's development.
  • MJF/Cole vs Darby/Cassidy is a way more interesting match to me than vs Sammy/Garcia so I'm a little sad it didn't go the other way. On the other hand, I hope this is building to a coffin match with Darby vs Swerve because those always deliver. I kind of like the idea that Swerve has a bunch of enemies. The Garcia/Sammy at odds stuff is just a little weird. A lot of course correction and stop starts but the end place isn't bad or anything. It wasn't that long ago that Sammy was the mentor giving Garcia the vest and everything and now that Garcia's embraced it, Sammy's a lukewarm babyface.
  • The Cole/MJF stuff is absolutely working and I am stoked for the double clothesline when it hits and loved the bodyslam bit. It is a little weird so soon after the abrupt MJF/Sammy thing (which I liked a lot too!). They should run with it for a while. This is the ideal role for Cole, a smarmy babyface in a weird tag alliance. I wished we would have seen Bill and Cage interact a bit more. They were two guys working a tag match instead of a tag team which wasn't the feeling I had on Friday.
  • I loved the "learned psychology/familiarity" in the Skye Blue/Ruby Soho match. Lots of Skye's spots were dodged and she had to adapt, and on one leg, so it was all clever stuff. I guess she's shifted from the skyfall to the code blue as her finisher which is fine. The announcers didn't really go up for it(which reminded me of Kelly/Nigel not being aware of "The Juice is Loose" last week).
  • I did not like the Swerve vs Nick Wayne match much. The early dancey was just terrible. Once it settled in and Swerve started bullying him, it was a lot better and there were a couple of good spots down the stretch but the last sort of people I want to see Wayne wrestle are the PWG house style guys. He needs that contrast. I'd like to see him against Big Bill, for instance, or the Embassy. Or Yuta/Garcia/etc. I'm dreading the eventual Sammy match for instance.

That’s an interesting way to look at that. I remain dubious that the Bucks have the self awareness to allow themselves to be booked that way, but I would certainly enjoy watching them get the shit kicked out of them.
