John from Cincinnati
It's crawled its way to 67% fresh, but weeks of stink from the Cannes screening lingers. Box office projections looking soft. As someone else who has it #1 on BO, my prediction: Pain.

I wonder why people still do the out of competition screenings when Cannes probably has little bearing on the North America box office. You're basically taking a unnecessary chance that people (a much harsher sect of film critics) crap on it. It can only detract from the general audience's interest in seeing it.

My theory is they were following the template of Maverick at Cannes last year and all the Cruise fanfare that went into that kind of legacy sequel/moviestar rollout. They were chasing that with an inferior product, and are suffering the consequences. Mangold is so getting canned off that Star Wars movie. Nobody has ever been so fired.

I think I had it in the middle of my ballot so I should get a few more points because of the bad money draw, but I should be okay review wise.
