I finally watched the Bloodsport match and

good god was that grisly. Most of it was grappling, fairly good stuff (I especially liked either how well-planned or how quiet they were in communicating), some drama about a countout, there was a brief fight for a single crab until The Spot. Even though Mox hit in his side he decided "nah let's pretend" and went under the ring for the most absurd blade job I've ever seen him pull off. This was Eddie-hits-an-artery level stuff. They were both just soaked and it kept pumping for the next couple minutes as they scrambled, there was a brief stand-up for I think a ten second break at a time limit and then they busted out the wrestling moves. Nice DDT, BIG powerbomb that I thought might finish it, Moxley busts out a Tiger Driver?! And we Warmaster finally getting KO'd from elbows. Mox says to the camera "you said I'm crazy, you said I'm nuts" well we sure will now more than ever. I wouldn't call it MOTY but it was really good stuff that put the Blood in the Sport.

Three hours of Bloodsport is kinda like eating a seven course meal where every course is steak. The final two matches did the most with the format, plus it was cool seeing Santino v Gracie Hunter. That Erik Hammer guy was pretty cool and check out the womens match

Wish Finely and Regal where still active to compete in this

I almost posted a Thumbtack Jack match with DJ Hyde but DJ sucks and he also uses the F slur so I decided not to. Jack is insane and I'm bummed I was taking a break from wrestling when he was over here. I also enjoyed the fact that DJ is having an event at his parents house and the crowd just shits on him, way past the point of "they're playing along because he's a heel."

Oh, CZW fans really hate DJ Hyde. I think they basically feel that Zandig was a legit ace, whereas DJ Hyde is a rich kid who paid his way to a prominence beyond his talent level.

I've probably watched this a thousand times but I've never seen the footage of Dibiase convulsing on the floor and being loaded into an ambulance. Holy shit. As always, this is awesome for Bill Watts' hard-ass interview crapping on Roberto Duran, Jim Ross and Joel Watts freaking out over everything (back when Jim was one of the best guys in the business to be behind the mic, and Joel comes off as excitable as David Crockett back then), Dick Murdoch shoot punching Teddy in the face and killing him with the Brainbuster... and of course, the reason this is here. Laceration! Pressure bandage! "We're not gonna stop it for blood!" Hell yeah.

It spans 1995-2009, was gonna include 2010-2012 and cut off before the switch to Widescreen late in 2012 but I kept making the video longer and had like 40 hours of clipped footage to work with so I had to reign myself in. 2010-2012 highlight will come one day, and 2013-current will require me to seek out and buy a ton of shit I don't have so that may be years. But I wanted to document my favorite era from my favorite company a bit. Thought it would be fun to edit a video again as I haven't done it since 2012 and video editing software had gotten a lot better. Didn't realize the kind of project it would turn in to for my autistic ass. Was fun to go through my hard drive and skim through years of stuff and get sucked in to a lot of the stuff I forgot about. If anyone wants I have maybe 80% of the Big Japan worth seeing in ISO files from 1998-2010 plus a lot of 2011-2012, and a ton of 2013-modern as downloads that I can copy onto a hard drive for a small price, I am in a hard spot financially and would be happy to make a great deal. Also have some old Dragon Gate, M Pro, Zero one, IWS compilations, etc.

That was extremely sick in all the best ways. Brought back a lot of memories of waiting for highspots orders or CrazyMax trades. My first 4 Japanese tapes were CZW in BJPW, the IWA KotDM, Best of Dragon Kid and a Best of Hyabusa. I was hooked on death matches.

My top 5 BJW matches, in music video form. Might do up to 30 since their 30th anniversary is coming up. As I compile a list it's definitely obvious that I have my favorite wrestlers and period. Not a lot of stuff from the first or last 10 years, 2006-2012 was really the sweet spot of quality, though there's been a handful of great matches in the last decade. The older stuff is pretty burnt into my brain but I'm excited to go through the last 10 years and find the stuff I missed/forgot about. There's also stuff like Ito/Kasai that was huge for the company but I don't think was actually that technically great that's kind of hard to place on a list.
