odessasteps
Re: Terry Garvin's "change" My memory is a bit hazy from the original ESPN broadcasts, but I seem to recall Terry Garvin/Sims telling the interviewer that he changed his gimmick and name to "Sims" for his son, who didn't know who his "real daddy" was.I guess he couldn't go on TV and say that he was changing his name so he wouldnt be confused with the alleged pedophile Terry Garvin that works for the WWF. J.T.
RASTA THE VOODOO MAN puts a curse on Brian Adias' knee! Now, El Fantasma from CMLL! I have to laugh everytime I see that. If he is a Rasta, then he'd be practicing Obeah since Voodoo is Haitian. Doesn't really bother me since only a fool would assume that it is a necessity for wrestling gimmicks to be culturally correct.

He claims that, when he was using the name "Terry Garvin" in Memphis, he was unaware that there wrestler who had used the name "Terry Garvin". Though, since his gimmick is sorta based on the other TG's real life, I've never quite believed that.
hammerva
While Jobber vs Knapp is a classic match up, I don't think I have seen a weirder match of Rainbow Brown vs Nuke. Rainbow Brown kind of looks like Skip Young but probably not. Apparently Nuke carried some goofy green syrup with him. This is some backyard shit here And I really don't get the obsession with brandon Baxter in 1993 Global. Everybody is messing with that kid. Too bad we don't get to see the angle where they set him up and convicted him of stealing something from Akbar,
rzombie1988
Rainbow Brown may be the worst wrestling name ever. I would have loved to have been there during that conversation where he got that name. It had to have been a rib.
hammerva
Is this Ed Robinson guy the same one who played "The Gambler" in WCW? Looks familiar Wow Bill Mercer as a special guest announcer for this show. And that Fritz Von Erich was supposedly going to be Chris Adams corner? I figure they wouldn't want anything to do with Global.

MGFanJay
Oh my yes. It had all the colors of the rainbow in it. John Tatum has been quite a highlight of these shows - it makes me want to see him in his prime if he's this good past it. Even then, he's still a 52nd degree black belt in Jumbo Tsuruta karate. I like Akbar's updated suit and tie getup - made him look a lot younger.

odessasteps
Turned on tonight just in time to see The Patriot vs Scott Anthony. Oh, this next match is a Matt D special. Lightning Kid, having just come back from the Orient (according to Scotty), came to the ring with a bag of salt.

goc
Buddy Landell should have had a really long run in GWF. Shame he only seemed to stick around for the North American title tournament. He was the highlight for me from the DVDs I watched of the first few tapings.
