The Nature Boy
The weird thing was when mid 2000s Flair bashed Bret in his book for only having 5 moves.
Firebreaker Chip
In his book Flair describes Eddy as one of the best workers in America regardless of his size, and was annoyed at Hogan telling him not to sell for him - so I guess just game recognising game Could be misremembering but I feel like even post-95, a bunch of guys at EG's level in WCW were always presented as excellent wrestlers and fairly protected; it was just that for all the commentary talk of how they were among the best in the sport they were never really treated as being on the same planet as any of the geriatric main event nWo feud crew so it rang a little hollow
greenbat
It goes back to the nineties how even the midcard had intricate storylines, the Jericho/Malenko feud may of been the fourth match but holy fuck was it intense.
Tromatagon
The pop when Ciclope unmasked to reveal Dean Malenko was one of the biggest in WCW history.

The Nature Boy
Modern day WWE is TERRIBLE at giving midcard guys storylines. It's amazing to watch 90s wrestling and see that almost everyone regularly featured had some kind of a story.
cool arrow
That's one thing I'll give Russo credit for: he gave midcarders stories. (Of course, being Russo, they often sucked, but still.)
The Nature Boy
You would think that WWE would efficiently use their team of writers to do just that. You have an entire TEAM of people, just delegate certain parts of the card to different people. There's no reason for EVERYONE to be focusing on how to get the main event over. cool arrow
Especially since they've been doing such a piss-poor job with that lately.

cool arrow
Yes, but ultimately they're just giving Vince what he wants, so you can't really blame them.
Niners Fan in CT
When will they do away with the terrible overly scripted promos.
cool arrow
Presumably not until Vince retires/dies, at the very least.

Just because WWE has a team of writers doesn't mean they have a team of competent writers. Let's look at it in sports terms, the Arizona Diamondbacks are a team. They're a last place team, but they're a team.

Thomas Bugg
So I watched the Bret Hart episode of the Monday Night War. Jesus Christ, how many fucking times must we be reminded that WCW got big because of WWF guys? And I'm wondering, at some point are they going to throw guys like Sting and Flair a bone?
Brian Fowler
I swear it was reported there was going to an ep on Sting vs. Hogan... But, yeah, this appears to be more "How WWE kicked WCW's ass in the Monday Night War."

Hoarr
I like how the Monday Night War doc talk about the Sunny character ushering in a new era of feminism for the Federation, as women were no longer valets and "lady-wrestlers" but much more. They might have a case if they focused on the rise of Chyna's character... but something tells me that they're not gonna touch that.
Brian Fowler
Chyna got a fair amount of talk/credit in the DX episode.

cool arrow
I'd say Sable was the true groundbreaker. Post-Sable, women in WWE didn't have to have any particular talent, just big tits.
The Nature Boy
Sunny cracked the door that Sable blasted open. After Sunny, women COULD get over and were pushed solely on their looks.
Niners Fan in CT
The Monday Night Wars series is something I wanted to be good and it's the complete opposite. I gave up on it after three episodes. So terrible.
GuerrillaMonsoon
It really is aimed at that 10-18 year old demographic who weren't around during the Monday Night Wars.
