TUESDAY IS SONG STUCK IN YOUR HEAD DAY!

Recommended Posts

Most criminally underrated ELP song? I say yes.

Will you stand up or will you freeze
That savage woman make you please
Turn your inside outside in
Still you don't know where she has been
Living sin

Can't you see through
She's going to realize the way to sound you

Finally ground you

Sudden
Never cured by a one night lover
Sell you
Stories of a meeting with a younger brother
Twisty
All the people lyin' were just a blind cover
No one
Ever gonna pry her from a two-faced mother

Can't you see through
She's going to realize the way to sound you

If you never saw it coming
Hooked you up with Coca-Cola coming
Nice and slippery

Time is never time at all
You can never ever leave
Without leaving a piece of youth

And our lives are forever changed
We will never be the same
The more you change the less you feel

Believe, believe in me, believe, believe
That life can change that you're not stuck in vain
We're not the same, we're different

Tonight, tonight, tonight
So bright
Tonight, tonight

And you know you're never sure
But you're sure you could be right
If you held yourself up to the light

And the embers never fade
In your city by the lake
The place where you were born

Believe, believe in me, believe, believe
In the resolute urgency of now
And if you believe there's not a chance

Tonight, tonight, tonight
So bright
Tonight, tonight

We'll crucify the insincere tonight
(Tonight)
We'll make things right, we'll feel it all tonight
(Tonight)

We'll find a way to offer up the night
(Tonight)
The indescribable moments of your life
(Tonight)

The impossible is possible tonight
(Tonight)
Believe in me as I believe in you

Tonight, tonight, tonight
Tonight, tonight

Sold you my therapy
You can suss it out
Bought a new enemy
She can smoke this doubt

Every disgrace already made
Every word tasting bitter and betrayed
Looking for lies, sympathy fuck
Useless heart didn't want to change my luck

What about today?

Sold you an alibi
Place me at the scene
I live a sorry lie
It burns like gasoline

What about today?

This is such a beautiful song. IIRC it was actually written by one of the guys from Blink 182.

Friends are warmer than gold when you're old
And keeping them is harder than you might suppose
Lately, I tend to make strangers wherever I go
Some of them were once people I was happy to know

Mounting mileage on the dash
Double darkness falling fast
I keep stressing, pressing on
Way deep down at some substratum
Feels like something really wrong has happened
And I confess I'm barely hanging on

All my happiness is gone
All my happiness is gone
It's all gone somewhere beyond
All my happiness is gone

Ten thousand afternoons ago
All my happiness just overflowed
That was life at first and goal to go
Me and you and us and them
And all those people way back when
All our hardships were just yardsticks then, you know
You know

It's not the purple hills
It's not the silver lakes
It's not the snowcloud shadowed interstates
It's not the icy bike chain rain of Portland, Oregon
Where nothing's wrong and no one's asking
But the fear's so strong it leaves you gasping
No way to last out here like this for long

'Cause everywhere I go, I know
Everywhere I go, I know

All my happiness is gone
All my happiness is gone
It's all gone somewhere beyond
All my happiness is gone

To your soul
To your soul
Cry
Cry
Cry

You leave in the morning with everything you own in a little black case
Alone on a platform, the wind and the rain on a sad and lonely face

Mother will never understand why you had to leave
But the answers you seek will never be found at home
The love that you need will never be found at home

Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away
Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away

Pushed around and kicked around, always a lonely boy
You were the one that they'd talk about around town as they put you down
And as hard as they would try they'd hurt to make you cry
But you never cried to them, just to your soul
No, you never cried to them, just to your soul

Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away (crying to your soul)
Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away (crying to your soul)
Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away (crying to your soul)
Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away

Cry, boy, cry
Cry, boy, cry
Cry, boy, cry, boy, cry
Cry, boy, cry, boy, cry

Cry, boy, cry, boy, cry
Cry, boy, cry, boy, cry
Cry, boy, cry, boy, cry
Cry, boy, cry, boy, cry

You leave in the morning with everything you own in a little black case
Alone on a platform, the wind and the rain on a sad and lonely face

Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away
Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away
Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away
Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away

Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away
Run away, turn away, run away, turn away, run away

Woke up with this in my head yesterday and sat on it all the way until now just to play by the rules. Now it's YOUR turn to hear those horns for hours...

Stuck in my head all day, despite having not listened to it in like... 25 years? Shit.

Hell of a thumbnail there. Anyway, late 80s Glam Metal. From Wales!

Do yourself all a favor and take 6-7 minutes to watch the completely spectacular video for this, which blew my 8-year-old mind to pieces when it first came out.

If you look around
The whole world is coming together now

Can you feel it, can you feel it, can you feel it
Feel it in the air, the wind is taking it everywhere
Can you feel it, can you feel it, can you feel it
All the colors of the world should be
Lovin' each other wholeheartedly
Yes, it's all right
Take my message to your brother and tell him twice
Spread the word and try to teach the man
Who's hating his brother, when hate won't do
When we're all the same, 'cause the blood inside me is inside you

Can you feel it, can you feel it, can you feel it
Can you feel it, can you feel it, can you feel it

Sing out loud
Because we want to make a crowd
Touch a hand and sing a sound so pure, salvation rings

Can you feel it, can you feel it, can you feel it
Can you feel it, can you feel it, can you feel it

All the children of the world should be
Loving each other wholeheartedly
Yes, it's all right
Take my message to your brother and tell him twice
Take the news to the marching men,
Who are killing their brothers, when death won't do
Cause we're all the same
Yes, the blood inside me is inside of you

Can you feel it, can you feel it, can you feel it
Can you feel it, can you feel it, can you feel it

Every breath you take
Is someone's death in another place
Every healthy smile
Is hunger and strife to another child
But the stars do shine
In promising salvation, is near this time
Can you feel it now
So sisters and brothers
Show we know how
Now tell me

Can you feel it, can you feel it, can you feel it
Can you feel it, can you feel it, can you feel it

And so, my fellow Americans
Ask not, "What your country can do for you?"
Ask what you can do for your country?"
And now, back to New York

Pete Nice
Heart as, hard as, Chinese arithmetic
Avante Garder, not a heretic
Figure out a right rhyme, stick it in my cranium
Pete Nice, elemental like uranium
Throwin' joints, blowin' like a cool breeze
Swimmin' in, I lift on juice, I wax M.C.'s
These hoes go frontin' on my Jimmy
I smack 'em on the back, sit 'em down, say

Gimme some rhythm baby loosen up my collar
(Rhythm)
I'll lay you out, like a funeral parlor
Ready willin', fillin', killin' for a billin', top
I never stop, with search and Sam drillin' it
Soul in the hole, M.C.'s workin'
Kickin' it, vickin', the suckers who be jerkin'
Me and my posse are hardcore, you want some more
Reason that I'm squeezin' your girl
(You never please her)

So I pleased, then I threw her in the gutter
Cut her off, my wisdom wiser so I muster
Rows of all opposed, lows conquer all
Those who pose as dope I say nope, I wear def clothes
Dapper like Dan from, three the hard one
Never stigmatize as a rapper or I'll slap ya
You're stung from my tongue as you run from the drum
(Diggy drum)
Three the hard way, wordz of wisdom

This time there was three
One two three the hard way
This time there was three
One two three the hard way

MC Serch
A branch of the hip-hop tip grills your dome
You're toe ingrown low showin' you ain't got nobody home
Prone to the microphone, light up, and take out
Make out your will Bill, three is gonna break out
The stylee, me and P E T E
Embark on a mission that's deadly, break out the ammo
Aiyyo Sammo, hook up the beat
And I'll lay the plan oh man

You just got taken, I took a head out
Attack on the back of the six of the Guinness stout
Usin' abusin', those of the past tense
Funning gunning, but I'm summing up the nonsense
Three, the hard way, cards laid are okay
Gettin' up and settin' up, just for a payday
The minister, sinister
(I ain't no devil)
Ten snakes circle and scoundrel Sam level

This track to smack, the smile off a doubter
The brother's, another M.C. who's about
Frontin' like he's buntin', deceivin' the delinquent
Rappers on track, bustin' out a medium
For those opposed, who manifest a diss
Pete tell 'em (Manifest this!)
Not righteous, but might just, make you wanna listen
Yo I'm Elvis with the wordz of wisdom

This time there was three
One two three the hard way
This time there was three
One two three the hard way

Pete Nice
A Ludacris Buddhist, boo this when I do this
So true to this, perpetrators view this
Style, empirical, lyrical, it's critical
Three the hard way, boy you need medical attention
I'm like a surgeon in my left hand
Hold a microphone like a scalpel so you understand
Wordz of wisdom, woven like a spider
Bitch on my tip, I get busy and I ride her

Uptown, then I drown her like a psycho-pathic
'Cause I'm graphic on the mic I never let go
Light skinner eat dinner like a soul man
Prove with the rhyme I'm down, Sam's hands
Transform strong as a good pitch
(Too strong)
Switch up the wisdom, into word which
Kicks out the benzi in a frenzy it sends me
Up the Bronx river back to Brooklyn apprehends me

Like a D-tech bustin' my man in the projects
I'll send you up north, I ain't givin' respect
Prejudicial, your style artificial
As live as limb that's attached to a criple
It's simple eliminate you like Gotti
(So simple)
I chill in Bed-Stuy and drive a Maserati
With the body of a freak on my side, how am I livin'?
(How ya livin'?)
Larger than large, with the wordz of wisdom

MC Serch
Hyper-selective, Serch is attracting
Females who focus on the future, not slacking
Rhythmic it's too quick, feel it, I let it flow
Sam sever seas'll submerge, so let it go
Throughout, or put out, lyrics like a D-valve
Speak up, a deeper meaning as I leak out
And seek out, a three the hard way endeavor
Pete Nice, search, produced by Sam Sever

Livin' in my shoes boy, this is not shoe town
A showdown for Motown, it's a new sound
Lyrics that lick, the tick off a timepiece
Foamin' at the mouth punk, you need a leash
What are you sick? I'm a slick stupid scientist
Rhymin' that you can't comprehend
(But you're buyin' this)
Record I'm wreckin', my homeboys are breakin'
Hopin' that you're copin', no slopin', I'm not takin' no shorts

'Cause I'm playin' the high post
Ask any girl in the place, who's the fly most
Brother with a cover, shootin' to my cribbo
The tease wants a please, girl screamin' ditto
So I did this, I needed the bed rest
Hangin' with the bangin' on the strength, there's no contest
Physically or lyrically, it's my kingdom
Stingin' 'em and bringin' 'em the wordz of wisdom

This time there was three
One two three the hard way
This time there was three
One two three the hard way

Shammo, hook up the Def mix

Ahh, ahh

All but three of the defendants were found guilty
All but three of the defendants were found guilty

See-ya

Yo yo, that's ridiculous shit

I am not normally a big fan of pop songs, but this sweet little downtempo track has been stuck in my head all day ever since I heard it on the radio this morning on the way to work.

It's that song that plays for your life soundtrack when you're sitting on a park bench on a warm July day and that cute girl from Apartment 201B smiles at you and starts walking your way and suddenly the world is moving in slow motion in a good way.

Gotcha!

Just found a decent copy of In Color and Black and White for $15 at one of the local record stores, which has moved for the second time since I've lived here and is thankfully far less cramped and dim. The song is Trick at their most BÖC.

Pulled up Demon Days by Gorllaz on Spotify for the ride into work this morning.

Totally forgot about this collab they did with MF DOOM.

How fitting since November has actually come.

The singing sea
The talking trees
Are silent in a noisy way
The stars are bright
But give no light
The world spins backward everyday

Oh, look at that!

A rainbow rat
A checkered cat
Go tail in tail along the road
The mouse is pleased
The moon is cheese
The sun is shining hot and cold

A golden bird
Today I heard
Sitting upon a silver branch
His little song was very long
Which made me sad and start to laugh

Hmm, let me see

My sister he
My brother she
But there is only me in the family
When I grow up
I'll go down
The river to the singing sea

On a greyhound bus,
Lord I'm traveling this morning
I'm going to Shreveport and on down to New Orleans
Been driving these highways,
Been doing things my way
It's been making me lonesome on'ry and mean

Now her hair was jet black,
And her name was Codene
Thought she was the cream of the Basin Street queens
She got tired of that smokey whine dream
Began to feel lonesome on'ry and mean

We got together, and we cashed in our sweeps.
Gave 'em to a beggar
Who was mumbling through the streets
There's no escaping
From his snowy white dreams
Born lookin' lonesome on'ry and mean

Now I'm down in this valley,
Where the wheels turn so low
At dawn I pray, to the Lord of my soul
I say do Lord, do right by me
You know I'm tired of being lonesome on'ry and mean
