And that possession ended with Harden getting an assist on a three anyway. He said something about trying to lighten the mood and get the team out of the fog they've been playing in lately.

Warriors lost, Rockets officially only one game back for the 10th seed.  Of course, Jabari Smith got suspended a game for his altercation with Kris Dunn.  Then again, we're playing the Blazers tomorrow.

The teams that finish 7 and 8 play each other, winner is the 7th seed.

9 and 10 play each other, loser is eliminated.

The winner of 9/10 plays the loser of 7/8 for the eighth seed.

Games are at the higher seed's building.

IS IT ONE AND DONE?

So theoretically, 10-Rockets would play the 9 Lakers, 8 Mavs would play 7 Kings, then 7 Kings play 10 Rockets, and then Rockets are rewarded with a 1 seed Thunder or Nuggets?  Sweet!

The 9-10 game is one and done. The 7-8 game isn't.

But yes, if theoretically the Rockets take the tenth spot from GS and win both play-in games, they'll be the eighth seed.

Toronto's Jonay Porter is being held out of the lineup today because of "irregularities with prop bets" about him.

Incredibly funny scandal brewing. Massive betting on all the unders on his prop bets. Dude also has a subscription service to his Discord where you can get financial tips from him. Perfection.

The plan to move the Wizards and Capitals from DC to Alexandria is dead.

According to the Washington Post:

D.C. Mayor Muriel E. Bowser and Ted Leonsis, owner of the Wizards and Capitals, said Wednesday they were finalizing a deal that — if approved by the D.C. Council — would keep the teams in downtown D.C. until 2050, ending the owner’s planned move to Virginia.

An announcement is planned for late Wednesday afternoon at Capital One Arena downtown.

Under the terms of the deal, D.C. would spend $515 million over three years to help Leonsis modernize the arena and the owner would sign a new lease keeping the teams in D.C. for 25 more years.

The agreement includes other provisions that address some of Leonsis’s concerns about the state of downtown and allow his company, Monumental Sports and Entertainment, to additionally expand in the city.

Among the provisions to which the two sides have tentatively agreed, D.C. would allow Leonsis to take over management of the Mystics home facility in Southeast D.C., utilize parking at some District-owned buildings for Monumental employees, keep a minimum number of police officers downtown and plan for a new future downtown practice facility for the Wizards.

Minnesota Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor is no longer selling his controlling stake in the franchise to minority owners Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez, he announced Thursday.

Taylor alleges Lore and Rodriguez failed to meet certain contractual deadlines and obligations of the sale process, which began in 2021. Sources told ESPN that the relationship between Taylor and his successors -- Lore and Rodriguez -- disintegrated over the past two years.

Minnesota (50-22) is having its best season in years, and is just a half game out of first place in the Western Conference.

In a statement given to ESPN, Lore and Rodriguez maintained they have met their financial obligations to Taylor, including a final payment last week. In 2021, Taylor agreed to sell the Timberwolves and WNBA's Minnesota Lynx for $1.5 billion, with a structure that called for a transfer of power over a number of years as Lore and Rodriguez made a series of payments.

"We are disappointed with Glen Taylor's public statement today," Lore and Rodriguez said in the statement. "We have fulfilled our obligations, have all necessary funding and are fully committed to closing our purchase of the team as soon as the NBA completes its approval process.

"Glen Taylor's statement is an unfortunate case of seller's remorse that is shortsighted and disruptive to the team and the fans during a historic winning season."

Since the sale process began in 2021, NBA franchise values have skyrocketed, with the Phoenix Suns selling for $4 billion, the Dallas Mavericks for $3.5 billion and Charlotte Hornets for $3 billion.

In his statement, Taylor maintained he was no longer selling the franchise, but that he "will continue to work with Marc, Alex and the rest of the ownership group to ensure our teams have the necessary resources to compete at the highest levels on and off the court."

Draymond just got ejected tonight. 3 minutes into the game for lipping off about a play he was not even involved in.

I guess the message of his cell phone ad didn't get through.

There have been a few stories around for the past few years about A-Rod and his partner not having the money. Considering A-Rod does "financial freedom" seminars with Pitbull and has licensed out his name and the like with the scumbag who wrote "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" -- all stuff where you try and get people to pay money for these worthless rip-off classes -- I'm of the belief that A-Rod doesn't quite have the amount of money you need to buy a controlling share of a NBA franchise.

In a follow up Tweet - Wojo says that A-Rod did make all the required payments but Taylor is claiming they didn't met the contractual deadlines

Well, the important thing is that some cash-strapped city gives a billionaire a pile of free money.
