If you are too young to have seen the glory days, it must really suck to hear about them with the current teams.

It could be worse though... I mean, it could be Nebraska.

In a brutal blow for undefeated Air Force - starting QB Zac Larrier will be "out for awhile" after injuring his knee

Senior Jenson Jones will replace him which is a little ominous since when Jones came in this past week - he immediately fumbled twice

Someone who was 6 years old the last time Texas A&M won a national championship would be 90 years old currently.

Forget about national championships.  A&M has only had three years that would generally be considered "good" since I graduated 29 years ago.

- 98, last conference championship won, with the out of nowhere win over undefeated K State

- 2012, 11-2, Manziel's Heisman year

- 2020, 9-1 in the Covid year

Yeah but with them you don't really have the people around who remember the national title.

Not like Miami that won all those titles in the 80's plus 2001, or Nebraska being the dominant program for decades and winning titles in the 70's and 90's and being a contender so many other years in there.

TAMU is more like Minnesota where, sure, they have had success but it's not really in living memory.

Didn't Schiano after the game make it clear he was talking about some questionable calls by the refs?

Yes.  It was obvious in context if you watched the game as well. This is just somebody on Twitter trying to come up with something out of nothing.

So there's no rule against stealing signals unless you use electronic communication to tell the players.

And the NCAA rulebook doesn't have any stated penalty for in-person scouting so even if Michigan is determined to have done so, nobody knows what happens.

Not true. The rule says “any attempt to record, either through audio or video means, any signals given by an opposing player, coach or other team personnel is prohibited.”

A low-level staffer with a military background has emerged as one of the linchpins in the NCAA investigation into Michigan's alleged sign-stealing operation, sources told ESPN on Thursday.

Connor Stalions, a football analyst with the Wolverines and a retired captain in the United States Marine Corps, is a person of interest in the investigation into whether No. 2-ranked Michigan violated an NCAA rule by scouting future opponents in person at games, sources said. The NCAA prohibited such scouting in 1994.

Sources said the NCAA enforcement staff's level of interest in Stalions is so significant it sought access to his computer as part of its investigation. Sources indicated that the process is underway, although it's uncertain what investigators will find.

Attempts by ESPN to reach Stalions were not returned. Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel did not return a request seeking comment.

A source told ESPN that the Wolverines have used an "elaborate" scouting system to steal signals from future opponents since at least 2021. With the ongoing NCAA investigation into Michigan recruiting and coach Jim Harbaugh potentially facing additional penalties there, this separate investigation could significantly increase his exposure to additional suspension.

If the allegations are proven to be true, Michigan would have violated NCAA Bylaw 11.6.1, which states: "Off-campus, in-person scouting of future opponents (in the same season) is prohibited."

I think it's obvious that the NCAA must have a fair amount of evidence to go ahead and inform the Big Ten and future opponents.

The big question, I guess, is whether this was a male conspiracy from the top of Michigan's program and athletic department or if one staffer with a rep for being good at sign stealing was putting some serious effort into impressing his bosses. As a Michigan fan, clearly I prefer the latter possiblity (also it's a lot harder to run a conspiracy the more people who are involved.)

One thing is for sure though: every team Michigan plays the rest of the year is going to have all new signs and signals for Michigan week, or they are gonna huddle a lot more than usual. Or both.
