RIPPA
Pirates beat the Nationals 2-0 in a game that took 1:50 to play Tied for the fastest game this year (and those two games are the quickest full games since 2010) It is also the quickest game in "Nationals" history (I haven't found clarification yet if that means franchise history or not)
RIPPA
The now reported timeline of the As moving to Vegas November owners meeting - Vote to approve relocation Early 2025 - New stadium construction begins 2028 season - Team starts in new stadium Based on that timeline - team would need a place to play for the 2025, 2026 and 2027 seasons
BobbyWhioux
Hence the new (empty) promises to put Oakland at the top of the expansion list in the hopes the city will be rube enough to extend the lease instead of rightly telling Fisher/MLB to pound sand for three years. Kansas City had to grab the antitrust exemption by the short & hairys to force MLB to create the Royals and nothing less than comparable duress would be needed to (re)birth the Oakland Oaks

RIPPA
So in LAA news In the appetizer - Anthony Rendon says he has a fractured tibia not a bone bruise, which is what the team keeps saying. Basically, 4 doctors said it was a bone bruise but Rendon's personal doctor said it was a fracture. Quote A source close to the team told ESPN that Rendon initially saw four doctors -- two chosen by the Angels, two chosen by Rendon's side -- that diagnosed him with a deep bone bruise. A fifth doctor diagnosed him with the fractured tibia. Rendon, who didn't provide details on the process, said the fracture diagnosis occurred while the team visited his hometown to play the Houston Astros during the second week of August. The main course is that Shohei Ohtani has cleared out his locker. The Angels say they will provide an update about that today.

He's in the middle,or was anyway, the worst season by a starter ever. Before this game, he had a 7.95 ERA and 1.98 WHIP. Nobody has ever been worse in both categories while pitching any quantity of innings. And anybody close pitched 90+ years ago.
Contentious C
Ozzie Albies got over 30 HRs, making the Braves the second team with 5 30-HR players in the same season. Ridiculous.

RIPPA
Shohei Ohtani had elbow surgery (it is a little unclear if it was full TJ as doctors and his agent did not clarify) He will not hit pitch at all in 2024 but his doctors say he will be fully cleared to play otherwise for the start of the season
Cobra Commander
The Twins are one win or one more Guardians loss away from a division title after Cleveland got swept in Kansas City. Twins are 81-72, Guardians are 72-81. Guardians won the season series vs Minnesota, so they would need 9 Cleveland wins and 9 Minnesota losses to win the Central. Brian Fowler
Corbin Carroll of the D-Backs became the first rookie with 20 home runs and 50 steals. Then later in the game he became the first rookie with 25 home runs and 50 stolen bases. (Mike Trout was the only other with 25 and 40.)
Contentious C
Sounds like the Cys are the only awards that are really up for grabs at this point, but then again they're frequently "blindfold yourself and throw a dart" compared to the others. Also kinda nuts to look at the SB leaders. A lot of guys putting up good to great overall years...and then there's the # 2 guy with his 0.0 WAR. There are some guys it just loves for no real reason. Guy hits 15 homers with an OPS of .793, gets a WAR of 5.7. Another guy hits 45 homers with a .935 OPS and has a WAR of 4.9. Most of the time it's good but there's a ton of headscratcher cases.
