@Zakk_Sabbath Danielson made his AEW debut in September 2021, so if he was on a three-year deal, maybe it does legitimately end in August 2024. But, out of habit, I assume anything being said on TV or in interviews is folks working. If no one had said anything at all about this and Meltzer or someone reported his contract was ending before All In & Out, then maybe so. I'm just not seeing a huge difference between the MJF & Danielson "contract situations" as far as how they are being presented in AEW canon.

I just watched Giselle Shaw cut a promo on Mickie James after Mickie wrestled Hyan, and it's driving me nuts where I know her from (Hyan I remembered from an episode of Dark once the booth mentioned she was a Booker student). According to Danielson, he asked for two things before leaving WWE: getting to wrestle in New Japan and getting to bleed. Hunter said no to the latter, while TK has given him both PLUS he's gotten to wrestle Blue Panther. I would sincerely hope that while he may eventually go back to the 'E, hopefully he feels like there's still lots of unfinished business outside of that company.

I mentioned in another post that I loved that Scotty Flamingo, Johnny Polo, and Raven are all clearly the same dude and that there's a connective narrative tissue that explains how Scotty Flamingo ended up as Raven. In the abstract, this is theoretically a neat angle with Raven's emo nature being sort of fraudulent (if you think that upper-class teens and twenty-somethings can't have ennui or be disaffected, that is). But I agree with you in practice that it's not doing much for Raven, and there are surely better things that you could do with a guy who got over as your number three heel at worst (with an argument for being number two).

I do agree with your post from the other day saying that the constant mention of this being the last year, and the recent Claudio stuff is building to something/possibly a Nigel match, so fully with you in that sense - but with regard to the off screen contract stuff, I'll just say this: word for word, your post was my post when we all found out Cody hadn't signed a new deal yet so... while I have no real counter-argument or evidence to the contrary, I'm just a bit gunshy to declare it fully a work yet for that reason.

I know things thread-wise are kept pretty neat and tidy here, so do delete if needed. I've only ever fully watched the 1991 G1 Climax, whilst dipping into bits of the other ones. However, a lot of coverage of the tournament are unsurprisingly modern focused, so it can be quite hard to work out what tournaments are worth watching from a match quality or a historical viewpoint. I feel like there are a lot of very knowledgeable people who might be able to suggest to me some of the best tournaments over the course of the past 30+ years of the event. I know 2003 is often lauded as a particularly good one and some of the more modern ones are admittedly generally good, but any specific recommendations would be really helpful. Thanks all.

While we're here.... I don't think you've been following the story. Mercedes came in the same way Punk came in with this big "I missed you guys so much!" hoopla in her hometown etc... but it was VERY quick following that where we started to see the REAL Mercedes come to surface. She's been interrupting Willow and stealing her spotlight for weeks now. The commentators have been pointing it out. She's put on the "aww gee whiz guys" fake smile and disingenuous tone but the commentary and Willow herself having been speaking the truth. The last two weeks fast-forwarded that slow burn into being a heel outright. 'Double or Nothing' will likely be the final step.

I don't know what I or Wes Lee did to deserve a multi-month feud with Karrion Kross in Universe mode, but I got it.
