Cobra Commander
The AL Central starting shortstops are now a unit where yesterday's "hyped prospects" are today's "worst shortstops in the division" Those 5 starting shortstops are now Tim Anderson, Amed Rosario, Javy Baez, Adalberto Mondesi until he gets hurt, and Carlos Correa. Out of those 5, I'd think Rosario and Mondesi are a bit behind Anderson/Baez/Correa in reputation/hype/etc. Of course the Royals are gonna move the top prospect in baseball to third base for the time being. If not for that, then that position would have Anderson, Rosario, Baez, Witt Jr, and Correa at the same time.

He must not have gotten any longer offers that he/his agent found acceptable to take this one.

Death From Above
If he'd signed that contract with the Orioles he might have ended up owning the team with what the buyout would have ended up costing

Lawful Metal
Fans trying to rationalize this are stupid. It’s not our money. It’s some feckless billionaire. Cheap ass bastards. Pay the players what they’re worth. Don’t send a home grown franchise World Series winner to fucking Minnesota
cubbymark
Minnesota would have been the second last place I would have expected Correa to land after Tampa Bay.

Lawful Metal
So it’s about the opt out after this year? Why not rent Carlos and do the dance next year? So stupid

Kevin Wilson
The double opt-out thing for both Soler and Correa is weird to me. The Twins and Marlins both have low-ish chances of making the playoffs and aren't considered WS contenders, so what is the advantage of paying that much for best case is a one year rental, worst case they fall off a cliff and you are stuck with them for two more years. I can understand it better if Houston, Yankees, Phillies, etc. did that, not the Twins and Marlins.
RIPPA
Well in theory - expanded playoffs are supposed to be mean more teams in contention. Plus the AL Central is a shit show so the Twins absolutely can be in contention. Also both clubs need to be seen as a place that FAs will sign with. Like that is partly why the Os made a play for Correa - they are always gonna be mocked until they are not... and a starting point is overpaying a name FA to come to your team. RIPPA
So one of three things are happening (since Story was insistent he wouldn't change positions) 1) The Sox are going him an absurd amount of money and told him to shut the fuck up 2) Story is full time DHing 3) They are moving Xander Bogaerts to somewhere else in the field
RIPPA
Story's deal is 6 years, $140 Million with an opt out after 4 years Part of the reported reasoning for the move is that Boston wanted insurance in case Bogaerts opts out after this season (Bogaerts is scheduled to make a straight $20 million each of the next 4 seasons)

The Tigers had to do that back in the early 2000s. They overpaid Ivan Rodriguez and it turned the franchise around.

Tabe
So apparently there's a lawsuit/case regarding sign-stealing/cheating by the Yankees? Anyway, there's been a ruling that will unseal a letter that allegedly reveals that MLB was aware of sign-stealing by the Yankees and covered it up:  https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/court-rules-on-yankees-investigation-mlb-world-reacts/ar-AAVkp7b?li=BBnbfcL
