Do we have any evidence that they are supposed to be actual bullfighters and not, like say The Mountie was clearly a deranged fool who thought he was a mountie...but really wasn't?

Because, the bull is clearly not a bull.  So the Matadors...probably not really matadors.

Also John Nord was not an actual Viking and was not probably to be held responsible for the hideous crimes of raping and burning villages.

Also Tugboat...not a tugboat.  A maniac who pretended his arm was a tugboat whistle.

Like, Miz is supposed to be an actual Hollywood wannabe douche.  And Repo Man, I think, was supposed to be an actual repo man.

But, say, Fandango is clearly not a real ballroom dancer, and his presence is not a direction to forgive the evils of ballroom dancing.  He is clearly an insane fool who thinks he's a ballroom dancer.

Dude.

Why you gotta expose the business like that?

oh, it's a cartoon gimmick. I don't expect vignettes of Fernando and Diego spearing real bulls, but like most cartoon gimmicks there is a blurred line related to what they are really supposed to be. As a rule of thumb, the most credible the gimmick is, the stronger it is. Fandango's character would be great if he could convince people he was a world class dancer but if you realize he is a wannabe trying to catch attention with a random skit it's a weak gimmick.

Los Matadores spots are supposed to be comedic recreations of bullfighting with other wrestlers, but you must find bullfighting to be funny to do so.

You could do a comedy nazi or rapist character who wasn't actually a nazi or a rapist and you would still turn people off because their reaction would be "how is this supposed to be funny?" and it's worst if you make them babyfaces. Yes, extreme examples, but can't think of a better one rn.

Hmmmm. We may need to take the pulse of the room on this. Because he doesn't seem to have many moves.I suppose that's one field where you can be a terrible ballroom dancer but still technically be a Ballroom dancer Like there has to be some guy on the pro bowlers tour who has never finished in the top 30. But he's still a professional bowler somehow.

That's a decent point.  But I wonder how many people in America see Bullfighting as anything other than a silly cartoony thing that Bugs Bunny did once anyway.  Like, not many probably recognize or know how cruel it is.  But none of those people "respect" it either.  it's maybe one of the few instances where insular American provincialism has a positive effect.

'Muricans see "bullfighting" about as much as a cherished "cultural icon" as they see a Mexican hat dance.  It's something you dress up as for Halloween or if you're a heel wrestler making fun of anyone from any of those "tacoey" countries.

Okay...maybe I'm not actually making this less offensive...

Nah, that's pretty much it. I think it's hard for a country who only experienced bullfighting via cartoons and whatnot to understand how it may be controversial. I mean, it's not even not being able to understand but rather not even considering it.

For example, in Portugal it was a hot political and cultural issue. It is not as hot now as the country is in deep crisis and killing the bulls in the arenas was forbidden, but it is still a talking issue and people have very strong opinions about it, for one side or another.

Just as random example of an anti-bullfighting campaign video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hw0sajf07kA

Daniel and Brie got engaged with the Total Divas cameras there so I imagine the wedding will take place on the show too.Daniel Bryan: Reality TV poster boy.

I'm picturing Nigel McGuinness watching that wedding from his couch, eating a tub of ice cream, sobbing.

I get that E! is bringing Bryan loads of exposure and helping his career, etc.

But, seriously, does the guy want every aspect of his life on camera? The Total Divas crew being at the proposal is so messed up:

Daniel: Brie, I love you. You're the one. You complete me. Will you--

Production co-ordinator: Sorry, guys. Can we do that again? We didn't quite get the lighting right. Also, Brie, try to churn out a tear, OK?

I'm half-expecting E! cameras to be at the birth of their first child now.

I'm pretty sure the real proposal was done elsewhere in private. If they're really getting married,

I think Bryan takes this as a challenge and as a chance to get better at being a tv personality.

I know the World Heavyweight title is not in the same level that it was back when HHH and Batista were champions, but having Del Rio in non-title matches on TV every week is lame as hell.

And losing so many of them!  Which reminds me, there's no way he should be selling so much for Zack Ryder.

I thought when I saw Zack Ryder in the ring, "oh, this will go barely a minute and then he'll call out RVD or something." Instead Zack Ryder is getting shots in on the world heavyweight champion. Well, his fans cannot complain he isn't on tv.

With no brand split the title is no meaning. At least, before, he could be the "Smackdown champion"

It's time to clean up their messy title situation. Just unify the IC and US and at this point I would also unify the WHC with the WWE title.

And how will you make up the lost revenu from belt sales?

I'm pretty sure Fandango is an actual ballroom dancer. It's only because Summer Rae doesn't have the same grace and talent that the original Fandangirl has, that forces him to dumb down his enchanting dance moves for the general public..

Wait...was she named Fandangirl? Because that is gold.

The problem are the House Shows as they want to have a title match in every House Show and they still do branded shows.

Still, is a ADR defense selling any ticket? Meh, everybody knows that it's bad to have all those titles. Just put the WHC in Cena to elevate it back and feud the two titles like Gabe Sapolsky always tries to do.

Do collection editions of belts and overprice them. If they want to have titles make titles that mean something: have them be age or weight related or have some sort of gimmick.

has any decent fed made a gimmick title where the champion decided in what kind of matches the title would be contested? One guy could make it an hardcore title~, the other a submission title, 2/3 falls, stupid rules etc. Would allow to put some prestige on the title and still change its flavour and keep it fresh.
