Ryan Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Which of these first round picks of the new era Browns count as successful?1999 Tim Couch2000 Courtney Brown2001 Gerard Warren2002 William Green2003 Jeff Faine2004 Kellen Winslow II2005 Braylon Edwards2006 Kamerion Wimbley2007 Joe Thomas2007 Brady Quinn2009 Alex Mack2010 Joe Haden2011 Phil Taylor2012 Trent Richardson2012 Brandon Weeden2013 Barkevious Mingo
Assassin Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Alex Mack made a Pro Bowl, and is still the Browns starter at Center so I would say he would be considered a success. Jeff Faine was a Pro Bowl alternate as well, but it was after he left the Browns. Joe Thomas is one of the best linemen in the league, so I would he would be the most successful of the bunch. Edit: Outside of that? There is nothing there, nothing at all.
Josh Mann Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Thomas, then Haden. Everyone else is playing for 6th place.
Burgundy LaRue Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Hate to be a downer, but Dwayne Allen is done for the year. I'm trying not to think about it.
Josh Mann Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 You could also say the same thing if you look at the Dolphins' first round picks of the last 15 years, but Ireland is actually on a three-year plus streak (Odrick, Pouncey, Tannehill) with Dion Jordan looking promising as well. So there's that.
Death From Above Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 http://www.buzzfeed.com/joelanderson/tim-tebow-is-probably-not-going-to-play-football-in-russia This is not an Onion story. I think.
Kuetsar Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Guys the Browns play the Jaguars on December 1st. Realistic shot at 0-11 vs. 0-11. I demand national TV coverage if this comes true. Its either going to be a 0-0 tie, or one team with win 3-2. . . .its should be glorious from certain, demented pointed of view.
Kuetsar Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1779000-redesigned-logos-for-every-nfl-team Obligatory every few months "redesign the logos" porn. Some look better (Cleveland Browns) while others look the same (New Orleans Saints). Good to see new artistic spins on the old logos Let me say this very plainly, you touch the Bills logo, you DIE. Don't give me the shitty AFL logo, or this one, which is okay, but much shittier than the present one ,which maybe the best in sports today. . .
Sammy Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Speaking of Browns first round draft picks...
Brian Fowler Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Good move for the Colts. Recognizing they over achieved last year and need more talent, and that Richardson might be significantly better with a good passing attack arond him. Cleveland has 7 picks in the top 4 rounds which could work out...
Josh Mann Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 ...assuming they don't draft a kicker , a passable lineman over an all-universe WR or a 270 lb quarterback who had one good game in college. Lombardi has done all of these things in the first round. With the caveat that Grampa Al was over his shoulder, but still.
JRGoldman Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 I am optimistically going to call it a win win. I think Trent will be really good for the Colts, but the shelf life for a between the tackles runner is short, he doesn't have a history of health to begin with, and which ever QB the Browns end up with in 2014 will probably be peaking when Richardson is already declining. I wish they would have gotten a little more, but hey. At least I feel like this move means they want to use the draft to rebuild and not over pay for a proven mediocrity like Freeman or even Bradford. Yes, I am fully aware that this is Cleveland, do we will probably trade both picks and a third rounder for Kirk Cousins and Roy Helu. Fuck.

I LOVE the throwback logo and would be happy if it was made the main logo again (like the Sabres switching back to their original logo).
jaedmc Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Boy I can think of a lot of other things more chickenshit than mucking up a car. Especially a car owned by a millionaire who slams a stripper's head on the stage because he didn't give her permission to pick up the money he threw at her. This don't mess with a man's car line that people have adapted to assert their masculinity is corny as hell.Unless you're the stripper, shut up. Otherwise, you're just Internet Shadenfreude Tough Guy.I'm the stripper.
odessasteps Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Detroit has Barry Sanders, some championship wiinning Pistons teams, and a few decent Tigers rosters to keep them warm. Cleveland has 55-year-old Jim Brown microfiche and a WISH YOU WERE HERE Miami postcard from LeBron James.Hockeytown, dont forget.
Jrag Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 This is clearly a case of Cleveland going into tank mode for 2013 and ensuring that they have two 1st round draft picks in 2014. Their own pick will be Top 3, and the Colts' pick will be the 18-25 range. What makes you think the Colts pick will be that low? That team has some pretty big issues, most notably the offensive line and the defense. I forsee the pick being in the 10-15 range. I think they will be pretty good in the next few years, but giving away a 1st round pick on a team that snuck into the playoffs last year with smoke and mirrors could backfire significantly. I wish T-Rich the best in Indy, but I have a feeling that he isn't as good as advertised. I'm not really sure it matters where Cleveland picks because they will most definitely pick the wrong guy. I get the thought process, but it's hard to imagine the Browns correctly picking from a group of QB's. It just doesn't happen. I also understand this idea that T-Rich is overrated because of his low YPC and whatnot, but I would say it is a small sample size in a bad situation. It just seems way too early to give up on your 3rd overall pick. LT and Emmitt both had low YPC numbers in their rookie years. They can't stack the box on him in Indy. Let's see how that affects his YPC this year. 1
supremebve Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 As far as NFL players whose cars I most wouldn't eff with, this is the list off the top of my head: Suh, Charles Haley, Richie Incognito, Bryan Cox, John Randle, Orlando Brown, Carolina Steve Smith and Rolando McClain. Also, even though John Riggins is 60, he still gets an honorable mention. I think we are all forgetting about a guy who wore #88 who apparently killed a guy in front of his business, and the police decided against asking him about it. I can't recollect his name. Bernard Hopkins, who did significant time in prison said of this person, "I know (name redacted), I like (name redacted), but I don't fuck with (name redacted)." You guys are not going to make me hate this Richardson trade...everything is going to work out. The Browns will rise again. 1

Josh Mann Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 We did all forget a recently retired #52.
