Zimbra
Colangelo has said in the past that he wants a pro coach to succeed Coach K. I figure Kerr, Budenholzer, and maybe Hoiberg or Gentry will all get a look. I think Pop would be the dream, but I don't see that happening. muhammedboehm
Wouldn't there be a ton of issues that could pop up with a pro coach? ie coaching free agents or future free agents?
Zimbra
Not really. They've had pro coaches in the past; D'Antoni preceded Coach K. The usual NBA anti-tampering rules would still apply so he couldn't be trying to recruit free agents or anything.
Zimbra
I think Pop would be the dream, but I don't see that happening. Aaaand Popovich will be Team USA coach through 2020, so what do I know?
muhammedboehm
So this means he will name the starting 5 then not even travel with them to the Olympics cause hes watching there minutes right?
Dolfan in NYC
Anthony Davis got shut down for the season by the Pelicans. His coach says this will "probably" keep him out of the Olympics.
Zimbra
Steph Curry won't be playing for the Olympic team. Between the lingering injuries and the total shitshow in Brazil, probably a smart move.

JRGoldman
I'm sort of morbidly curious what the worst team the US can put together and still win gold is. I'm also interested in a ranking of which NBA players would be most likely to contract the zika virus. 1) JR Smith
Burgundy LaRue
At this point, they're going to start drafting guys to 'volunteer' for this team. Already got two or more kids? Your name goes into the pot.
GuerrillaMonsoon
I think at this point, taking out the Zika virus/assuming everyone's playing, you're probably left with Green, George and Carmelo fighting for the last 2 spots on the team, or you take one less centre and play all 3. Within 3 months of being back Zika would wipe out the entire next generation of the United States.

Jiji
So, it'll either be the Philippines or New Zealand in the semi-final and almost assuredly France in the final. France it is, then.

France and New Zealand still have play tomorrow to determine which semi each is in (basically the loser gets Canada)
