Brian Fowler Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 Stafford is one of five qbs to have a 5000 yard season. Granted, by the far the worst of said five, but a far sight better than RGIII.
Kevin Wilson Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 The problem is that RGIII is broken. Anyone that watches Redskins games (sadly I sometimes do since I am in their 'region') can see the lack of confidence and more importantly lack of speed. Cutler and Stafford have both proven themselves over many good seasons even if they are inconsistent, RGIII not so much, find a single fan of the Lions or Bears that say they'd rather have RGIII on their team. If he can't get his speed back which was his best weapon in the first place, he is done as a full time starter in the NFL. I can see him hanging around as a backup and he may have some good games left in him, but I wouldn't trust him to start on my team. LeBatard is paid to stir up shit, I can respect that, but I think he is off base here. Cutler is having the best season of his career with a 93 rating and 22-12 TD/Int split, he isn't an elite QB but he is better than most of the ones currently starting in the NFL.
Death From Above Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 LeBatard is a living argument against evolution.
Burgundy LaRue Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 Stafford clearly is better than RG3--especially right now. The overall point is patience was/is shown for Stafford. RG3 stinks at this point, but does that merit him being labeled as hopeless? Because that's what's happening on some level. LeBatard is stirring the pot a bit, but I don't think he's entirely wrong.
Tabe Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 Stafford showed potential his first two years while missing almost his entire second season. In his third year, the same one Griffin is struggling through right now, he threw 40+ TDs and over 5000 yards. He's averaged nearly 4800 yards each of the last three years. How is that even remotely comparable to RG3?
Burgundy LaRue Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 RG3 did nothing in his first season before getting hurt. OK. And Stafford has been in the league twice as long. I certainly hope he's thrown for more yards than RG3 in Years 4-6. Credit to Kevin for actually providing a sound rationale.
Kuetsar Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 Part of it is that Daniel Snyder has created an atmosphere that is disfunctional, if not completely insane. The Lions organization is more doting and patient. I think its more the style of QB than a race thing. If RGIII was flinging down the field like those two, and getting 250 yds a pop with 2 tds and 4 picks a game say, there would be patience. When you struggle to score points, especially with a owner that has the patience of a 3 year old, the hot seat is coming sooner. Not to say its fair, but that's the difference I see. . .
Burgundy LaRue Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 By all accounts, Synder loves him some RG3. Which means Gruden must have really pushed to bench him. Which again, is completely fair right now. One thing is for certain: Bills fans >>>>>> the rest of you.
Kevin Wilson Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 We are good at rationalizing things somehow, that is how we are still Bills fans. Next year will be the year! 3
Cole Miner Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 The thing I wonder most about RG3's rookie year is did they take the right approach with him. The offense Shanahan used was effective at working around his limitations. It had success but it might have been detrimental long term. Might have been better to develop his skills in a pro style offense and take some bumps early. I just don't get why they are wasting playing time on McCoy. They aren't going to make a run at the playoffs. Both Cousins and RG3 are under contract next year as well. At least try and develop one of them. Typical Redskins will be wait until next season to try and salvage of them and throw 120 million at Suh.
Josh Mann Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 Suh would be the most Redskins signing in Redskins history.

Where i was going with that is that Stafford was a borderline superstar in his third year. Griffin in his third year has been wretched and is now benched.

Both Cousins and RG3 are under contract next year as well. At least try and develop one of them. From what the media's saying, it seems like they've just decided to go with the nuclear option for RG3 and to get rid of him ASAP after this year. And Cousins has had enough starts to show he isn't the option either. So it'll either be drafting a new QB or keeping Colt and bringing in another veteran next year probably. 1
dogwelder Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 Suh would be the most Redskins signing in Redskins history. More than Fat Albert?
Gonzo Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 You can now get 3:2 odds on the Philadelphia Eagles winning more regular season games than the Philadelphia 76ers.
Craig H Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 I want Chicago to pick up RG3 so Jay Cutler can smack him around. It's that or Baltimore so Steve Smith Sr. can smack him around and give him the Jimmy Clausen treatment.
Brian Fowler Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 So, I guess the issue today is figuring out if the last two weeks have been more about the Lions being on the road against the two teams with the best records in the NFL, or about them being the Lions and having started the second half of the season.
GojiColin Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 Before all of us in the US gorge ourselves on Turkey, let us gorge ourselves on terrible football, Yes it's time for... Top of the Bottom: The Quest for the Goodell Trophy What better way to celebrate Turkey Day then to admire a gaggle of Turkeys! To the rankings! 1) 1-10 Jacksonville 2) 1-10 Oakland 3) 2-9 Tennessee 4) 2-9 Tampa Bay 5) 2-9 New York (Terrible) Football Jets 6) 3-8 New York Football Giants 7) 3-8 Washington 8) 3-7-1 Carolina 9) 4-7 New Orleans 10) 4-7 Minnesota Teams Eliminated : Baltimore, Cleveland, Indianapolis, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle Ladies and Gentlemen, the seemingly impossible has happened. This week the '08 Detroit Lions get to pop the sparkling grape juice and celebrate the fact that they stand alone as the only perfect 0-16 team. OAKLAND WINS! OAKLAND WINS! In all seriousness though grats to EdA and any other Raiders fans on not having to suffer a win less season. But enough niceties, I have come here to mock bad football and mock bad football I shall! Welcome to the 'Fistful of Turkeys' edition of Top of The Bottom! Thanks to Oakland's win, the Jags have leapt back into the lead spot by mere percentage points! Will either team win again this season? Hard to say, but I know Rippa is hoping the answer is "Not this week". It should be noted that my beloved Bucs did Chicago fans a solid by helping them stay off the list and keeping themselves in the hunt for the Goodell. The battle for being the least terrible team at Met-Life Stadium rages on and Giants fans should probably being giving thanks that the Jets will be starting Geno this week. However Eli is known for being a little too giving with all the Turkeys he tosses so things could get uglier then the fight over the last dinner roll here! As more and more teams are eliminated the heat is on for the teams at the bottom of the list. If Jacksonville and Oakland keep up their current pace teams like Minnesota and St. Louis will have little to show for all their futility. And with the NFC south playing like they should be demoted to the Arena League, one has to wonder if a team will make the playoffs and still have a top 10 pick. This is history in the making people! Who will relish a defeat this week? Who will win and merely be left-overs? Will I stop making bad Turkey Day puns? Who knows! But have an awesome Turkey Day (or regular Thursday for you non-Muricans) AND TUNE IN NEXT WEEK TO FIND OUT! 3

Instead they rushed his comeback (how much of that was on him and his people and how much was on management, we'll never know) and completely took away everything that made him successful. IMO, you have to win games so you keep what makes him work but you keep tweaking him and tutoring him to stay in the pocket. It's not like he was a terrible decision maker in his first year. He had a 4-1 td to int ratio. Say what you will about him not being the best pocket passer but he knew where he was going with the football and was comfortable. He squeezed the ball into tight windows in his first year as we had no WR's who could separate at all. He didn't just forget that stuff.
Justin877 Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 Good to know Jim Bob Cooter is still in the NFL. Had no clue he was a QB coach for Detroit
Kuetsar Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 I guess good Jay Cutler decided to show up?
johnnyboy Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 MEGA-FUCKING-TRON The guy's just ridiculous. He doesn't play by the rules of puny earth men.
