BloodyChamp Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 They remind me of the Rodgers Packers more in that regard. The best teams would always beat them by 35 but anybody else, even decent teams, especially division teams, would seemingly forget how to play football against them. I do remember the Steelers getting those kind of breaks too though. I don’t know if the Chiefs are going 1 and done though. They have so much voodoo on their side. I don’t know how but it always comes down to that stuff in football. They’ll also have the refs when the time comes lol!
Cobra Commander Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 anyways, the sequence at the end of the game, as explained by the Raiders HC, was that they spiked the ball to stop the clock so they could run a play to waste time before kicking a field goal yeah really

RIPPA Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 And as a reminder - the very next pick after Forbes was Christian Gonzalez
hammerva Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Something tells me that the Bills vs Niners is going to be a Monday or Tuesday game. unless they have hundreds of fans shoveling right now

BloodyChamp Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 I am very afraid for the Bills and Lions. They have their big game coming up and somebody always gets hurt in the late season clash between the 2 best teams. It’s wild enough that the game always falls so late in the season without even getting into the injuries. Meanwhile they both have the 49ers still. The 49ers might be checked out but if not that could also be tough on the Bill’s and Lions’s health win or lose.
Tabe Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 This week's fun fact: the 11-1 Chiefs, at +54, have the worst point differential among 11-1 teams since the merger. The Lions, at +180, are #2. 1991 Washington, at +219, are #1. Still say they are the best team I've ever seen. Even after Mark Rypien laughed at me for telling him he broke my heart by beating the Lions that year. 2 of the top 8 won the Super Bowl, Seattle in 2013 being the other. Detroit obviously still up in the air.
RIPPA Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 It is an Athletic story so you will need the usual work arounds https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5957910/2024/11/30/matt-eberflus-fired-bears-players-locker-room/?source=user_shared_article But basically - to the surprise of no one, Eberflus had lost the locker room. It culminated with the Thanksgiving Day loss but it actually started after the Hail Mary Quote Another crushing, confounding loss for the Chicago Bears meant another postgame speech about “sticking together” from head coach Matt Eberflus in front of a frustrated, crowded locker room at Ford Field in Detroit. This time, though, team captain Jaylon Johnson wasn’t having it. Not after another winnable game slipped away — a 23-20 loss to the Lions on Thanksgiving. Not after another day of highly questionable coaching decisions. This postgame message required a different tone, a different vibe, and probably a different voice. Like a lot of Bears players, Johnson had had enough. Sick of finding new ways to give games away, they wanted accountability and answers. “Jaylon went crazy,” one Bears player said. “He was very emotional and pissed but rightfully so. He’s been here longer than most.” Said another player: “He was going off more so at (Eberflus).” According to multiple players and staffers in the locker room, some players were asking why Eberflus didn’t call a timeout. Other players got going, too. “Guys were furious,” a staff member said. “It was an accumulation of this season.” “The locker room was ugly,” another staffer said. “There was a lot of yelling.” Said the first player: “We felt as players it’s been too many instances where we fought our way back into games to lose because of bad time management and decision-making.” The Hail Mary stuff Quote The unraveling began weeks earlier during the team’s disastrous loss to the Washington Commanders. In that game, the defense gave up a Hail Mary touchdown in the closing seconds. Cornerback Tyrique Stevenson missed his assignment completely, tipping the ball into the hands of Noah Brown for the game-winning touchdown. To make matters worse, Stevenson was caught interacting with fans moments before the play. Eberflus told Stevenson days later that he wouldn’t start against the Arizona Cardinals. Upset with the news, Stevenson briefly left practice to calm himself before returning. Players accepted that, but what didn’t sit well with some team leaders was Eberflus avoiding accountability for his own coaching errors. Players pointed to the play before the Hail Mary. Eberflus allowed Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels to complete a 13-yard pass on the penultimate play and then didn’t call a timeout before the Hail Mary to discuss his defense and calm emotions. When he was asked about it by reporters, Eberflus downplayed the importance of Daniels’ 13-yard completion to receiver Terry McLaurin and even doubled down on his decision, which many believe was among the mistakes. “That didn’t sit well in the locker room,” a player said. “It didn’t go over right,” the second player said. “That week is when he lost the defensive guys.” 2

RIPPA Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 The Lions have signed Jamal Adams to their practice squad and will elevate him to the active roster for next week's game
SirFozzie Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 (edited) Aaron Rogers just had something like 12 seconds to throw after scrambling across the field, and then the pass is pretty much dropped, sums up the Jets season They did score on the next play though (but the XP was blocked, to continue the Jets-ing) Edited December 1, 2024 by SirFozzie 1

We're lucky we didn't get a full fledged footbrawl. 1
Cobra Commander Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 technically it was offsetting penalties so you can hit QBs and not lose yardage as long as their teammates go after you ejections, OTOH, did happen 1 1
