I get they didn't want to use the timeout because they wanted it to set up a potential field goal attempt.

But how the coach doesn't realize "they aren't getting set I have to use it" is just... Nail in the coffin for a head coach already on the hot seat.

Yeah, you can forgive a rookie quarterback getting lost and confused there. A head coach? Nah. He's gotta bail out his rookie there. I'd fire him for it.

The Giants racked up 8 missed tackles in the 1st Quarter alone

I don't know how that is possible

There is some stinky stinky football being played right now

It's so nice to have the Lions not be the "why are they on Thanksgiving" team.

I have no idea what Brady is talking about concerning Daniel Jones saying that he shouldn't have requested a release and "work it out".    short of hoping both Devitto and Lock gets hurt he is out of options

I just watched the Lions and Bears game a little late and I saw that last sequence and everything but what’s going to be lost in the wash here between that and William’s recent struggles is how great he played today. I don’t just mean the comeback. In that first half he was extending plays, not just by running around on busted plays but by stepping up and sometimes stepping back next after nobody was open because he knew where the LoS was. He couldn’t do that before recently. The Lions were just so airtight downfield that he couldn’t throw it, and on that note it was also a good job not throwing it on some of those plays because there was plenty of time to come back which they did until the end disaster.

I think it was a pot shot at DJ and implying that DJ was a wuss asking for his release.

He showed a lot in the second half. Getting up after that brutal - and completely clean and legal - sideline hit, taking advantage of all the defensive injuries, extending plays, etc. I think he'll be a star if the Bears can somehow figure out to be competent offensively.

Brady is full of crap. He sort of referenced it in his comments but he ran into a similar situation at Michigan. He called home and had to be talked out of transferring by his dad. So, yeah, he stuck it out but it wasn't his first choice.

The Bears/Lions game has been over for five hours now and there's no reason that Matt Eberflus should still be Chicago's head coach.

Eberflus was then asked what would he have done different in retrospect. That's when he told reporters, "I think we handled it the right way."

Quote

"I like what we did there," Eberflus continued. "Again, once it’s under seven ... actually under 12 — really you don’t have an option. Because it’s third into fourth, and you’ve got to throw it into the end zone then.

"I think we handled it the right way. I do believe that you just re-rack the play, get it in bounds and call timeout. That’s why we held it. It didn’t work out the way we wanted it to."

LOL. He earlier sort of blamed Williams for the mess and took no blame onto himself:

Eberflus was then asked why he didn't call a timeout once the game clock ran under 10 seconds.

Quote

"We like the play that we had," Eberflus said." We were hoping that [Williams] was going to call it — get the ball snapped. And then we would have called time out right there.

"Once it’s under seven there, then you call timeout there, you’re basically throwing the ball to the end zone. Because once it’s under 12, you can’t throw it inside with no timeout."

I was with family so I couldn't post on the board but I'm glad it was properly discussed what a dumb fuck Eberflus is. I'm not giving a pass to Caleb Williams as I dunno what the fuck he was doing either and this game situation hasn't changed since he played high school football, but ultimately its still the coaches responsibility to call timeout once it clearly was going off the rails.

Not that Tirico is a prize... but Jason Garrett is the annoying friend of a friend you watch with who thinks he knows every thing a team should do because he assistant coached JV once.

More fun quotes out of Chicago.  This one from Keenan Allen.

After the game, Allen told reporters:

Quote

"I feel like we did enough as players to win the game"

Yeaaaah, Eberflus is getting fired.  It's just a matter of when.  Ya think they might like having Ben Johnson calling plays in Chi-Town instead of the current regime?

The home team went 3-0 on Thanksgiving for only the 2nd time since 2006 (when the switch to 3 Thanksgiving games was made) that that has happened
