They go from calling a game to calling a fight like it’s nothing. When Jose Ramirez KO'd Tim Anderson a few years back, Cleveland radio announcer Tom Hamilton went right into Howard Cosell mode: "Down goes Anderson! Down goes Anderson!" 3
hammerva Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 (edited) I usually don't agree with Rex Ryan but he may have made a good point concerning the Trevor Lawrence hit. Is it really safer for a QB to go slide feet first with your head and shoulder is completely exposed or is sliding head first the better idea. I mean both are terrible for your head and neck. Wonder if there has been any studies on the head impact between different types of slides. I know Tua has gotten serious concussions going headfirst but I thought he had one doing the foot slide as well Edited December 2, 2024 by hammerva 1

Course the receiving TD has a hell of an asterisk and I didn't even know that's how they scored laterals but its a fun stat anyway. He also got credited with two touchdowns on the one play in fantasy football so it was a good week to have Josh Allen. Allen is the 4th player in NFL to have a passing and receiving TD on the same play

RIPPA Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 Mike Tomlin said that George Pickens needs to "grow up" after Pickens got flagged for two more unsportsmanlike conduct penalties Pickens responded that he doesn't need to change anything and basically implied that the refs are out to get him Quote After the game, Pickens said there wasn't anything he needed to do differently in those situations. "No, honestly, like I said, I can just keep running my routes, keep playing," he said. "We got refs out there to make certain calls for certain penalties, certain flags. If they don't make it, then I'm pretty sure they'll take it up [inaudible]." He added: "To be honest, it was kind of a ticky-tack game, and I'm just glad we came out with the dub." "They said they got the gesture wrong," Pickens said. "You know what I mean? Thought it was something else. You can't hurt the team. I never intended to hurt the team, but he just thought the gesture was different. ... I was doing the first down; he stated he thought [it was] something else." Though that was Pickens' second unsportsmanlike flag of the afternoon, he wasn't disqualified because the action wasn't directed at the Bengals, referee Shawn Hochuli said in a pool report.

Lawrence did neither but they happen all the time. If you don't want QBs getting lit up, you have to help out the defense a little bit. We've seen it a million times with Mahomes where defenses are terrified to touch him as he dances down the sideline. I've watched the video again and it looks like the hit was started a little later than I previously thought, making it worse. These are still tough plays for defenders so some rule adjustments are needed. But definitely a suspension here. 1

Next AB he got 99 in the lower back and absolutely no one - on either team - had a problem with it. 1
Brian Fowler Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 This has been maybe the most surprising wildly entertaining game in recent memory.
Tabe Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 Man, this game was Jameis In A Nutshell. 4 TDs, a billion yards - and two (nearly three) pick-6s. 1
SirFozzie Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 3 games for the late hit (and taunting) The suspension letter doesn't hold back either: From NFL VP of Football Operations Jon Runyan’s letter to Azeez Al-Shaair: “Your lack of sportsmanship and respect for the game of football and all those who play, coach, and enjoy watching it, is troubling and does not reflect the core values of the NFL.” 2
RIPPA Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 Just a reminder - Al-Shaair was fined earlier this season for punching a dude on the sideline too so there is some multiple offense too 1
