Mister TV Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 Nice to see The Diplomat get some noms, I feel like I'm the only person who watched it.
Curt McGirt Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 Pretty easy list, not much dart-throwing necessary. Only other comment is that Woody needs to win for White House Plumbers. Actually it should be a dual win for the dude that played Liddy, but hey.
odessasteps Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 Godzilla should be in one of the best picture categories, even if it’s “only” foreign film.
RIPPA Posted December 11, 2023 Author Posted December 11, 2023 I feel like May December being in "Comedy/Musical" is a... choice 1
(BP) Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 I haven’t seen May December, but the trailer gave me the vibe of a movie that treaded into self-parody and camp like Whatever Happened to Baby Jane and Hush…Hush, Sweet Charlotte. I think Nolan is a lock for best director and Gerwig for best screenplay, even though personally I thought Oppy is Nolan’s best screenplay and that Greta directed the hell out of Barbie.
Curt McGirt Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 The Wire never won a Golden Globe or was even nom'd for an Emmy. I wouldn't sweat it.

Umm... yes it was It was nominated twice for Outstanding Writing The "fact" is that people like to say is it was never nominated for a "major award" - which, especially, after the events of this year might get a knife pulled on you 1

I really don't care about these awards or any of them really. It would just be cool to see the people who worked on that show recognized.

Anyway, I don't get that last statement -- what events and why the knife?

The Writer's Strike People saying a writing nom isn't "major" And it was a joke that folks might get stabbed for not considering their work valid 1
Curt McGirt Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 OOOOkay, I get it. Mr. Thick over here.
RIPPA Posted December 13, 2023 Author Posted December 13, 2023 Anthony Anderson has been named as host of the 2024 Emmy Awards (which are technically the 2023 Emmy Awards) Better to just think of it as the 75th Emmy Awards
Control Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 (edited) Da fuck is Cinematic and Box Office Achievement? Edited December 14, 2023 by RIPPA Fixed formatting
John from Cincinnati Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 4 hours ago, Control said: Da fuck is Cinematic and Box Office Achievement? A craven attempt to bring the most popular movies of the year into the conversation, introduced in the wrong year since two of the year’s big hitters are a big part of the actual conversation. Insert shitty joke about Sound of Freedom. 3
Control Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 You’d think they could find a slightly more subtle way of doing that. Like, an award that doesn’t say “box office” in the title, for starters. 1
RIPPA Posted December 21, 2023 Author Posted December 21, 2023 Jo Koy has been announced as host of the Golden Globes
RIPPA Posted January 7 Author Posted January 7 The Academy Awards have classified Barbie for the "Adapted Screenplay" category despite campaigning to be placed in original screenplay (The Writers Guild of America - for what it is worth - considers Barbie as "original work")
RIPPA Posted January 7 Author Posted January 7 Judith Light won her first Primetime Emmy for her guest performance on Poker Face which also is the first Emmy win for a Peacock show (Light won two Daytime Emmys when she was on One Life to Live) Also - Ed Sheeran won an Emmy so file that away for future EGOT discussions
elizium Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Most importantly, Tim Robinson and Sam Richardson are both Emmy winners. Tim for I Think You Should Leave and Sam for Ted Lasso. 2
