elizium
I looked it up and the only time I could see if happening (didn’t check pre1980) was in 1992 with the Niners, Washington, Eagles, Cowboys. There’s a few years with the Niners, 2 East teams and a rando There are a lot of mentions of the "teams in the same division can't meet in the wild card round" rule of 1970-1989 in my copy of the 2002 NFL Record and Fact Book. If that rule still existed, then the AFC playoffs would have started with Bengals/Chargers and Jags/Ravens and last year.

Joe Davis replaced Vin Scully with the Dodgers and has actually fared pretty well with that assignment. Joe Davis also picked up a lot of Joe Buck's baseball work when Joe left Fox. I forgot that the NFL had 4 playoff teams per league for awhile, so the rule was very similar to how the MLB wild card wouldn't play the actual 1 seed if they were in the same division (meaning the Yankees and Red Sox couldn't play each other in the ALDS) 1

I still don't think Chad Henne wins this game, even if the Jags stepped on rakes in the 4th quarter Not sure I follow this train of thought. Henne had a 98 yard TD drive in the 2nd quarter in his only full drive. The Chiefs only scored ten points in the second half and were saved by two Jag turnovers. I understand teams will want to play their superstar, I can't fault it too much, but he was clearly hobbled in the second half and Henne is a pretty competent backup. Henne had 61 NFL passes and 1 start in the last 8 years because he's a contract negotiation Hall of Famer. They got a really good drive from Henne and were able to cash their chips on a highnote. Leave the casino before you blow your winnings. The Chiefs were helped a little by their lead causing the Jags to shift their focus from running to passing, so maybe Andy Reid had an idea about how to beat one of his former assistants in that spot. Etienne had 10 carries for the entire game. Lawrence had 39 passes. Meanwhile the 2nd half Chiefs sorta did a remix of how they needed OT to beat the Texans or how they had two single digit wins over the Broncos. Sorta like it was a heat in track and field and they just needed to qualify instead of winning the heat.

NoFistsJustFlips
Oh go fuck yourself. I would have walked right up and flipped that ref off. It appeared to be a backwards pass, the defender was diving to get what seemed to still be a live ball. That wasn't a late hit. That wasn't unnecessary roughness. That was a player playing.
