Brian Fowler
No, the best part is that the "Layering Season" is the weekly NFL preview column written by Drew, their most popular talent (at least, he was until resigning.) Is that all 10 staff writers now?
Zimbra
David Roth has resigned, so I think that's all the major players gone. Congratulations to Bix for being the last man standing at Deadspin.

Honestly, Deadspin turning into a pro graps site just because some venture capitalist didn't know what the fuck they had bought is an amazing outcome. So Bix will be running Deadspin soon. elizium
I'm legit bummed about the whole thing. I probably spend most of my online time at one of the sites in that group. AV Club, Kotaku and The Root are still going, but it sure seems like the clock is ticking. I'm not sure what the fuck site is going to replace Deadspin for me. I picked up a year sub to The Athletic when they had a sale, but other than Sean McIndoe (who's shtick does get repetitive), there's been nothing to really grab me and I've only read sporadically for the few odd months I've had it. The Ringer? Fuck that, I don't need a site of 20 Bill Simmons clones. How could Grantland have been so good and The Ringer such trash. Without Splinter...I feel so out of the loop of what's going on in the States since it was shut down. Is Donald Trump still doing his thing down there? And the DNC Primary...that's still going on right? And Brexit, I was used to getting consistent and hilarious coverage of it....
Dolfan in NYC
lol, so Jim whatshisface hired a freelancer to write an article for Deadspin. The writer, Alan Goldsher, was promptly ratioed into powder, and now he has also quit. The cynic in me though says, I'm sure being labeled a 'scab' isn't a good look when you want to get a full time gig writing in a very pro-union environment.

Some of whom wrote for the site (Ashley Feinberg and co) or are just friends of the writers. And all of whom are mentally noting what may become of them one day. I don't know if it's good or bad but I'm now using twitter more since it's the best way to follow what's going on. Considering that I really started using twitter after the 2011 Tohoku earthquake... RIPPA
And Barstool is up for sale. Now I would say "life comes at you fast" but since they are supposedly being sold to a Gambling firm, the staff is reportedly thrilled that basically they are just going to talk about sports gambling

Fwiw, Magary and a couple of others have shown up on Vice now: https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/vb58dx/what-is-the-most-thrown-away-food And while Vice got rid of their Sports team a few months ago, poaching all of Deadspin's staff wouldn't be the dumbest idea. supremebve
We live in a world where an extemely rich guy bought Deadspin and immediately did something to alienate the entire staff enough to quit. As far as I can tell, there isn't another extremely rich person who said, "Shit, let me call all of these people to start my own site." Basically what I'm saying is, either there is absolutely no more money in journalism, or there is not a single rich person who believes in the value of journalism. I don't know which one is worse. lostinube
Burneko has already done a story for Vice about the Warriors. Blogging is hard. Anyway, I believe David Roth's gig before joining Deadspin was...working at Vice Sports.

Raziel
Well, I mean, since 90% of ESPN now is ass clowns throwing out the worst hot takes to scream at each other for an hour, there's a point. But I do keep up with Basketball by watching The Jump, so there are still people at ESPN I'm a fan of. But yeah, I watched ESPN back in the day for Patrick, Olberman, Scott, and Ley. I get more convinced people that run shit have no idea how to actually run the shit they run.
Brian Fowler
I absolutely was a fan of SI as a kid, and of ESPN during the Dan and Keith or Stu and Rich days.
