How was Hechicero vs ZSJ?

It was fucking great.  I'm actually watching it for the second time now, which is something I almost never do.  I hope people can find a way to see it eventually.  A few notes below:

Spoiler

The best way I could describe this match would be "it's an experience."  Here's the thing, if you're interested in this match, you are already fully aware of the grappling wizardry these two men possess.  The match does not in any way disappoint in that regard.  Things devolved into nasty and brutal territory in just the right amounts by the end.

What I found even more striking was the crowd for this match.  When this match was first announced, I was a bit taken aback that it was being held in Arena Coliseo and not Arena Mexico.  Perhaps that could be seen as a bit of an insult, but in retrospect, the more intimate, in-the-round atmosphere of the venue completely made sense.  The crowd was red hot, and even CMLL's typically lackluster audio issues couldn't hide that fact.  Also, this place was clearly, literally hot, judging by the sweat of the competitors and the fact that during the match, the ceiling is leaking on a corner of the ring.  Yes, you read that right.  It just adds to the sublimeness of it all.

ZSJ's flexibility usually works to his advantage, but here Hechicero turns that notion on its head.  Just to watch Zack being finally trapped in his own moves is something to behold.

It may not end up being my match of the year (although it's up there), but it's certainly a match that I will enjoy revisiting in the future.  In some ways, that's even better.

This is from Cubs’ post today. The most CMLL thing since the last one.

Quote

Fuego en el Ring posted what I believe is  a CMLL press release about the Felino 40th Anniversary matches. Whoever wrote it heroically (?) managed  to write about Felino’s career without mentioning Negro Casas or really any other Casas family member. Pesta Negra is mentioned as a group with Felino, Mr. Niebla, Barbaro Cavernario and Zacarias el Perico with no one else. This is really dumb stuff, and why no one should ever be comfortable with CMLL being the force that tells the accurate history of professional wrestling. They’re not at all interested in being accurate. Felino also did the CMLL podcast; I didn’t listen to see if they pretended his was a wrestling orphan there as well.

Death Triangle in CMLL was as awesome as advertised. After getting disqualified for fouls and unmasking, The Bastard Pac swears a bunch and tells Volador Jr. he'll meet him any time and any place.  This almost makes me forget about how bad he's been used in AEW lately. Almost.

I finally got to watch MJF vs. Templario, and holy hell was it great.

Actively fooled me into thinking MJF was going to be awesome in the All In Ospreay match.

Has anything else been announced for the 91st Anniversary show, outside of the four way mask match and Jericho vs Mistico? With Pac and Ospreay set for All Out, I'm hoping to see this Pac/Volador deal continue, maybe in the form of an AEW Trios Titles match against Volador and a couple of other tecnicos.

Big night for friends of the magazine, as Hechicero won the mask match and Zeuxis won the women’s title.

 Mistico also beat Jericho.

Really not sure whose call it was to bump the apuesta from the main event, because Jericho and Mistico had no chance of following it.
