From what our favorite CubsFan was posting the other night, 12/13 is going to be a fun night in Arena Mexico:

Hechicero vs. Claudio

Volador Jr. vs. Pac

La Catalina/Tessa vs. Toni Storm/Red Velvet

In other recent news, the Villano III Jr. vs. Flip Gordon match from last Friday night was kind of amazing.  The new Villanos have been pretty great for quite a while, but Villano III Jr in particular is really starting to stand out as someone who really connects with the fans.  Worth a watch if you can track it down.

There's quite a promising group bubbling up from the undercard these days:  Neon, Futuro, Los Villanos, Zandokan Jr, Difunto, and Xelhua, plus a few more.

Hechicero vs. Claudio was booked for me.  So thank you, whoever booked that.  Volador Jr and Pac will certainly mesh well, and I don't think Pac can have a bad match.  It's been great to see CMLL get behind Red Velvet, she's someone that might not be available to them at all times, but would work well on a semi-consistent basis.

From the AEW tapings last night, for the next two weeks of Rampage:

The Beast Mortos~! vs. Serpentico

Katsuyori Shibata/Mascara Dorada/Atlantis Jr. vs. Top Flight/ Action Andretti

Hechicero vs. Komander

Oh my, that could be amazing.  Also, quite intriguing and makes me wonder: is Komander now AEW-exclusive and not working for AAA at all anymore?  The whole vague "no touching" rule between CMLL and AAA in regards to AEW was ludicrous to begin with, honestly speaking, and maybe we're now officially beyond that.

On a side note, Bandido is also apparently ready to go as well.  Crazy times ahead in terms of potential match-ups.

Looking at his cagematch, Komander hasn't worked AAA since he dropped the Cruiserweight title in August. Aside from a couple of Mexican indy shots afterwards, he's only been working AEW and ROH shows.

CubsFan on Luchablog has been posting about Mistico possibly challenging for the World Light Heavyweight title, he made the belt around the waist motion to Averno after a tag match. I wonder if Averno will get involved somehow to screw Mistico and help out his former Infernales buddy?

Holy smokes, Mistico vs. Hechicero was absolutely tremendous.  Best Mistico match I've seen in a very long time, and you can probably guess why, but I must give equal credit to Mistico, he stepped up his game tonight.  Highly recommended.

Before this upcoming crazy weekend, not only in Arena Mexico but in Long Beach, takes away my attention, I'd like to also strongly recommend the Chavez Brothers vs. Difunto/Zandokan Jr from 12/7 at Arena Coliseo.  Angel de Oro and Niebla Roja are still at the top of my list as best tag team in the world right now.  Hardly anything about this match is particularly fancy, so the impressive spots are that much more impressive, and everything just flows so smoothly.  For what seems to be a makeshift team of sorts, Difunto and Zandokan Jr figured out their roles quickly, to be more rudo than the other rudo team.  It makes sense:  The Chavez Brothers have been so good for so long, somewhat underrated as well, and the serious fans at Arena Coliseo clearly show them love here.  Angel de Oro in particular connects amazingly well with the audience in this more intimate atmosphere.  Difunto and Zandokan Jr are two stars on the rise, and they also have a throwback type of feel to them, which is strangely comforting.

Simply put, a classic tag team match; not even in the lucha sense, just great tag team wrestling, period.  It's all there.  Brilliant. The fans throw coins at the end.  Well-deserved.

Considering the result, the Claudio-Hechicero match felt a little bit like "unfinished business".  Honestly, the final two matches were booked exactly the opposite of how I would've gone, so I would hope that means there's some sort of a payoff down the line.  I'm doubtful, however.

I'm tired of Volador Jr in these top spots.  There are many reasons why, but I'm not really in the mood to go on a rant.  If CMLL gave that spot to someone like Soberano Jr, just as an example, he would've torn the roof off with Pac.

Flip Gordon and Rocky Romero stole the show on this evening.  Claudio and Hechicero was by no means bad, I would even say very good, but it left me wanting more.  Honestly, the best Hechicero match of the weekend was against Lio Rush in Long Beach.  Those two crushed it.

The Volador/Pac thing seemed like it was red hot back in the summer, when Death Triangle did that shot in Arena Mexico. Then CMLL/AEW just left it alone for five months, and recently had Volador turn. So the whole thing pretty much cooled down and nobody seemed to care. And I'm totally with you with Soberano in that spot, but honestly, it's pretty hard to not tear down the house with The Bastard.

Apparently, Volador's knees are shot as well.  Also, this recent rudo turn was years too late.  It appears this time is more distinctly rudo, so maybe it will stick, but from my experience watching him, he never fully commits to anything.

In other words, I guess just don't get me started on Volador, Jr.!  😆

Hey, there's a lucha match that used to be on Youtube I'm trying to find again. It was in black and white, and I believe the participants were Perro Aguayo and possibly Sangre Chicana. It was filmed at apron level so it kind of looked like Raging Bull or something, very cinematic, and was an excellent match. I can't find it at all now of course.
