Contentious C Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 Well, at least the QF game is on Saturday, so my boss (English) and our staff scientist (Swedish) won't have a fistfight in the middle of the lab this week. 1
BobbyWhioux Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 England winning on PK well there’s something you don’t see every day 1
Dolfan in NYC Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 Congrats to you @The Natural . I'll just say this, Andres Escobar jokes, which I've already seen some places, will earn the jokester a few days off. I'm pissed off enough as it is. 1

Sucks to hear Andres Escobar jokes doing the rounds. A life is bigger than just a game.
Niners Fan in CT Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 Congrats on ending the penalties curse English dudes! 1
piranesi Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 I'm really hating how much this tournament seems to be sculpted to allow Russia a path to the finals. Going Vertical, anyone?
SirFozzie Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Penalties is a horrible way to decide the winner of a World Cup Knockout Game. The problem is, it's much less horrible than asking teams to play till a winner, or replays, or pulling names out of a hat/coin toss (Spain missed out on the 1954 World Cup due to drawing lots, and a 1968 European tournament SEMI-FINAL (Soviets vs Italy) was decided in a coin toss. 2

Celtic advanced in one of the rounds of the 1967 European Cup they eventually won via coinflip as well.
SirFozzie Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 I dunno, that's a soft PK to me. I mean the call, not the kick. The kick was DEFINITELY not a soft PK.
Guest Edwin Posted July 6, 2018 Posted July 6, 2018 What a great performance from Griezmann today. Loved his respect for Uruguay and his Atleti teammates by not celebrating his goal and also him breaking up the little scuffle when Pogba went after Nández.
Death From Above Posted July 6, 2018 Author Posted July 6, 2018 Brazil tried to stay on their feet that half. That is my list of positives for them.
