Meltzer just posted the following update which is very similiar to what PWI reported

Bully Ray's contract with TNA is expiring before the next company shows in a few weeks so he said his locker room goodbyes last night.

Because he was so heavily figured into everything, both as a performer and behind-the-scenes, the news surprised almost everyone.

While it was not considered a dead issue, given the lack of alternatives in the business right now and how much he figured into current storylines and the Hall of Fame, those in TNA are at this point going with the impression he is done with the company as of this point.

Lol, TNA must not be able to afford to carry D-Von on the books.

(Per Meltzer, most of Bully's previous contract problems with TNA resulted from Bully and D-Von trying to negotiate as a package.  After they split up the team and the Bully Ray character was created, Bully became more valuable to TNA than D-Von).

If they CAN renegotiate and are choosing NOT TO I think it's pretty obvious what's going on here.

Because that strategy did so well with them attempting to play hardball with Styles.

I can totally buy a Bully NJPW run.

Letting Bully Ray go doesn't even rank on the list of stupid things TNA has done.  The past couple of years of him role-playing as Hollywood Hogan and Stone Cold have been brutal.  Just eating up TV time, taking the majority of the match, not selling worth a damn for anybody.  Him giving a goodbye speech just after he gave an "everything is fine" rally speech at the last TV tapings is pretty hilarious though.

Writing him out is easy enough.  Just air a pre-tape with Dixie Carter saying her lawyers are working on having him terminated.  After his last match airs, follow it up with another pre-tape with Dixie saying he's been fired effective immediately and furthermore Team 3D's HOF nomination has been overturned and nullified.  Might as well fire Kurt Angle at the same time while you're at it.  You can bring back Devon for a one-shot to put EC3 over with the stip that if he wins, Team 3D goes into the HOF but if he loses Team 3D is barred forever.

James Storm still has a tag title match briefcase.  Have Storm/Sanada cash in on Edwards.  Then you can do Storm/Sanada vs. Hardys in the US and Storm/Sanada vs. Muta/Tajiri in Japan.  Move Edwards into singles against Manik until Richards is healthy and then do Wolves vs. Storm/Sanada.

Great plan, but can TNA do that all before their TV runs out in a few weeks.  Oh...duh....we are talking TNA...they can do all that in the first hour of an iMpact!.

Someone needs to troll Meltzer on Twitter about him being wrong about the cancellation. I think we all know who that someone is.

But that person doesn't have a Twitter account, and NEVER HAS.

Morons.
