Craig H
20 used syringes and 50 bags of heroin.
Curt McGirt
Okay, thanx for the correction. I read the NY Daily News (I think) report last night and wasn't digging it up again. Obviously he was a bit of a connoisseur, both that and he was a hoarder just in case.
Craig H
Normally I wouldn't correct something like that, but it is so astounding (and confounding) to me that the dude had 20. USED. SYRINGES and 50. BAGS. OF. HEROIN. on him...At a certain point, I start to wonder if he wasn't trying to actually kill himself.
Curt McGirt
Who knows. He was rich and could afford it. Some of the packages haven't been seen street-level since 2012, which makes me think he was hoarding.
ultimoDANK
Seemingly lost in this is that the dude had 3 young kids. I understand addiction but I still can't help but feel what a selfish asshole. Not to mention our collective loss of never seeing the Jingus screenplay come to life. I can only imagine Jingus, PSH, and Paul Thomas Anderson winning the top prize at Cannes. Jet setting to Sundance, sweeping all the awards. What could have been.

EVA
Gawker has a story claiming it was SEVENTY bags. By the time this story is over, they'll have found him in a sandbox of heroin, with castles and everything.
Curt McGirt
Just saw him on TV in The Big Lebowski during the limo scene. So funny looking at his face as he pretty much looks like he's trying not to lose it laughing. RIP
ultimoDANK
I like how Apple is trying to squeeze a few dollars out of this with a Remembering Phillip Seymour Hoffman banner on the front page of the store.
Brian Fowler
3 people have been arrested in connection to his death, and the heroin bag count is up over 300.
Curt McGirt
To keep it clear, the 300 bags were found in these people's apartments, not Hoffman's.

Randy
Keep in mind, these are followers of People Magazine. Â I do find it interesting that so many different outlets list so many different movies as his most notable one.

Ryan
A friend of a friend apparently accidentally came across the funeral procession in Central Park yesterday on a run. It was of course privately blocked off.

Jet setting to Sundance, sweeping all the awards. What could have been. Chris TItus' Podcast was on that theme this week, though he was a little harder on addicts, saying its not a disease. That's bullshit, but addicts are very selfish by nature. . .
Antacular
I'm all for progressive mental health movements, but as someone who has done some significant dabbling in his past, the "addiction is a disease" POV couldn't be further from the truth. Lack of self control isn't a medical condition.

I understand addiction but I still can't help but feel what a selfish asshole. Â I love my son and don't want to sound all Bill Hicksish. But the cult of the child thing in America is ridiculous. There is no pure light that comes from a child that will save an addict.

I look at that revelation and take the opposite interpretation.  Nobody who is actively trying to kill himself needs 50 bags of heroin to do it. Burgundy LaRue
Supposedly, most heroin addicts use 5-7 glasine envelopes of the drug per day. So 50 envelopes would have been a 7-10 day supply, max,
