Dolfan in NYC
All Marlins players will wear #16 tonight in their game against the Braves. I'm guessing this will be the last time anyone wears #16 for Miami.
The Man Known as Dan
I'd be stunned otherwise. I wouldn't be surprised if they rename their stadium after him, honestly.

Well as long as Loria owns the team as he flat out said no one will wear #

That would be a nice touch.
Nice Guy Eddie
I would just leave 16 retired, like the Yankees retiring 15 for Thurman Munson. I'm sure the Marlins will be wearing #16 patches on their jerseys for the rest of this season and next year.
The Man Known as Dan
Dee Gordon, in the first PA for the Marlins today, took the first pitch right handed, wearing Jose's helmet. 2 pitches later, he hit his first homer of the year. And was crying all the way around the bases. Sometimes, some things happen exactly the way they should have. That's how the first Marlins PA today needed to go.
sabremike
Even seeing the Mets going down the toilet I can't be the least bit upset about tonight. This game is going exactly as it should.
piranesi
Cincinnati 14 St. Louis 2 YOU CAN"T OUT-LOSE US METS!!! This is like that South Park episode.
sabremike
It's like the Baseball Gods said there's no way the Mets are winning this game, but realized we were in a no win situation and thus wouldn't let the Cards gain ground.
piranesi
I think you're selling us short. There's a good chance both teams can go 0-7. Pittsburgh has about a 65% chance of getting that last wild card.
Nice Guy Eddie
I wish the Marlins were a little closer than 4 games back for second wild card. If there's any team I'd want to see win the World Series, it's this Marlins team.
hammerva
Nationals losing Wilson Ramos with what looks to be a serious injury is just a another long list of things that make people worried

I still think you guys will leapfrog the Giants because they have 3 vs LA and I think the Dodgers would relish eliminating their bitter rival. PetrolCB
The post-game tribute was excellent as well. Ryan
Too bad they couldn't sell out the game, but it was way above their usual attendance for such sad reasons.
Craig H
Things are really falling apart for Cleveland and Washington at the worst possible time. Sorry, too bummed to add to the Marlins discussion.

sabremike
Just got my ticket for Mets in Philly this Saturday since they just announced 1:10 start time, paid $17 with fees on StubHub. I hope to see a party and then get the train back to Newark in time for the rags-Devils game at 7:10. #LGM
