odessasteps Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 AFC No. 6 San Diego Chargers at No. 3 Cincinnati Bengals at 1:05 p.m. ET on CBS http://youtu.be/sWUMv9m76eY As a big Air Coryell fan as a kid, this was one of the most upsetting losses I ever suffered. Still think they got hosed by playing in the Miami sauna the week before and then frigid Cincy. 2
Jerry Hattrick Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Prediction: Seattle vs New England Wish: Carolina vs Cincinnati How about your Predictions and Wishes?
ebbie Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 I am sure the network reps are happy that they got a bunch of "who cares?" games. MAYBE Packers and 49ers will do good numbers, but the rest?
odessasteps Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 NO/Phil gives you a well-know superstar (Brees) and a top 10 TV market.
Stennick Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Yeah I'd say The NFC games are draws and the AFC games are in the who cares category.
Reggie20x6 Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 So pretty much like every year where Brady and Peyton aren't playing each other?
elizium Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 So pretty much like every year where Brady and Peyton aren't playing each other? I was actually just typing that when you replied. I'd probably throw in the Steelers as well, because of their following, but otherwise the NFC matchups always feel bigger.
CSC Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 I am sure the network reps are happy that they got a bunch of "who cares?" games. MAYBE Packers and 49ers will do good numbers, but the rest? Maybe it's because 95-99 was pretty much the height of my teenage years football obsession, but Packers/Niners always seems like a huge fucking deal to me.
JustJay Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 So Chad OchoCinco Johnson is going to buy up all the extra seats for the Bengals playoff game so it is a sell-out. http://msn.foxsports.com/ohio/story/chad-johnson-on-unsold-bengals-tickets-i-ll-get-the-rest-010114
Kuetsar Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 If you can't sell out your stadium, your don't deserve a playoff home game, I don't care what your record is. Green Bay I'm looking at YOU! 1
Fat Spanish Waiter Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Don't worry they'll all buy junk bonds and penny shares to cover the difference 1
JustJay Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 And.....Chad said no to buying the tix when he found out how much it would cost LOL http://www.wcpo.com/sports/could-chad-johnson-rescue-fans-from-blackout 2
SirFozzie Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 If you can't sell out your stadium, your don't deserve a playoff home game, I don't care what your record is. Green Bay I'm looking at YOU! Yeah, I'm sorry, I'm throwing the BULLSHIT flag here. Have you seen the weather forecast? It's the Ice Bowl II. The HIGH temperature for Sunday is projected to be -5 (That's NEGATIVE FIVE). The low? NEGATIVE 20.. The Wind Chill? NEGATIVE 51 DEGREES. (For our euro fans, that's a -46 celsius). Anyone buying tickets better wear seven or eight layers of clothing and sign waivers. 1
Ryan Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 If you can't sell out your stadium, your don't deserve a playoff home game, I don't care what your record is. Green Bay I'm looking at YOU! Would you want to sit in that fucking weather? I've been to a game that was cold and that was just normal temperatures and it was still way too damn cold. This is like the lowest level of Dante's version of hell.
Jerry Hattrick Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 I guess this is what dome stadiums were built for. I'm sorry, but I don't care how spectacular ice bowls are. If the winner of this game has to forfeit next weeks game due to 40 of the 53 players comeing down with the flu/pneumonia, how would that look?
Burgundy LaRue Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 If you can't sell out your stadium, your don't deserve a playoff home game, I don't care what your record is. Green Bay I'm looking at YOU! Anyone with a lick of sense will be at home, tucked under a blanket and watching the game on their nice TVs. Who willingly sits in negative weather? The players wouldn't be there, but they're contractually obligated.
Brian Fowler Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 In high school, I played in a game in single digits. It's almost impossible to describe what that felt like, the way everything stung, the way you nearly died on the sideline as the sweat froze to your face... I can't even begin to fathom playing a game in significantly colder weather.
Ryan Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Ask the old-timers that played in some of those types of games, they fucking sucked.
odessasteps Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Its a tribute for san diego playing cincinnati. (See Fridge Bowl post earlier in the thread)
Reggie20x6 Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 I can't even imagine what working that game would be like - from the ticket ushers to the guys on the field. Just shuffling around - wishing that you were dead. Catching/kicking punts and kicks will also be a blast! The football will feel like a bowling ball. Eff that noise! 13-6 final score.
Death From Above Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 All domed football stadiums should be burnt to the fucking ground and their ashes should be shot into the sun to remove their taint from earth entirely. 6
Raziel Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 I dig weather porn as much as the next football fan, but if your stadium is in an area that sees regular temps south of 20 degrees in Dec-Jan, then stick a roof on the fucker. Watching the Vikings play at University of Minnesota next season is gonna be a blast. Thank god the Eagles only have to go to Green Bay next year.
Brian Fowler Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 This isn't even weather porn. It's just cold.
